Job 31

24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.

29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Job 31

“If I have put my trust in gold
or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’
25 if I have rejoiced over my great wealth,
the fortune my hands had gained,
26 if I have regarded the sun in its radiance
or the moon moving in splendor,
27 so that my heart was secretly enticed
and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,
28 then these also would be sins to be judged,
for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.

18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come inand eat with that person, and they with me.

Now what do you think that this means? I personally think that this means that even if we do donate to charities it does no good when we ourself think we areany better than our brothers and sisters around the world in our hearts in even the poorest of countries, yes we do care about our brothers and sisters but do we set ourselves higher?
And if not then why do we live as if we did?

20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

I think the quote from machine gun preacher says it all "The Lords prophets were not men in shiny suits!"

The lies of the world would have us believe that we are better than any of our brothers and sisters which is the curse of pride and I know that we have good hearts but all that matters is what God thinks, blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs in the kingdom of heaven! This life lasts what 50 years? Gods gift is eternal life

Matthew 23:27“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.

Ephesians 5:27
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Colossians 1:22
But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—

Hebrews 9:14
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Job was referring that putting trust in money, which this is a sin and showing unfaithfulness to God, because you gave your heart to wealth over the love of God.

Revelation 2:4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

When the psalmist sang, "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want," he was not speaking of having everything handed to him on a silver platter.

He was saying He followed God and God met his needs. The Apostle voiced that same God would meet the needs of His children when he penned the epistle to the Philippian saints. There, we read:

But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.

Our attitude toward wealth shold not be "Give me more," but rather, ""Give me only what I need."

Whatever is most important to a man is his God (Martin Luther)
And that is the "God" that man will serve.

We should all repent for putting any other God before our creator
