don't wear that Blain

don't take that on...every thread the op posts is about making someone feel bad

I also get into a silly and playful mood...something wrong with that?

my husband and I were laughing and joking at lunch to day...he says to me 'you're full of it' while laughing...but that is part of what he loves about me

you know, some people just love to keep others down because they sublet the basement themselves

please Blain...don't take that on...it isn't true...If I took to heart some of what some people have said about me here? I would have to wear sackcloth and ashes...and for a fact, some people would be glad to see that
Ty for your encouragement ember it means a lot to me however in this case it wasn't the op who spoke to me and it was done in love, but I do get your saying and will take it to heart.

First of all I don't need to badger the title of this thread because I believe you were trying to just be different in it to create interest and spur us on in thought over what God's Word talks about; that being Lukewarm Christians, likened to hypocrites, whom we all know Jesus was a bit not pleased with to understate it. If you believe in Scripture and you believe, therefore, we are to be crucified in Christ where we no longer live, yet live we do, based on Christ living in and thru us literally in the New Creation, you should, then, also stop leaning on human reasoning; rationalizing whom Christ is to you and understand God does not call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him over ourselves and all such reasoning. I didn't say stop thinking, but we need to usher out ourselves and usher in God's new truths and insights and transformative mindsets. We must forever (by the way) as a lifestyle so completely adopt God as He us, that we are no longer afraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn't come thru, and remain faithful throughout it.

The irony is that while God doesn't need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don't really want Him most of the time, unless you are not Lukewarm.

God's definition of what matters is pretty straightforward. He measures our lives by how we love. Not loving Satan anymore is not enough, we must love God; all of God and not just the one or two aspects of His blessings we delight in; Using other man made appeals to beleaguer Scripture into a nice tight fit for man to swallow. Spew is as spew was meant to mean: expel rapidly and forcibly. If my yes with God's free gift means yes, then this is not my plight at all. This is not about God's love being lessened it is about our integrity being in check by God.

Those who are lukewarm are more of a hindrance to the Lord because they do not show any fire nor do they motivate others. They are content to switch on and off and so they give bad example. They cause others to stumble. Thy lead by bad example.
Jesus is the Potter and we are the clay. If we are cold He can still work with us and shape us into His followers. If we are already hot and stay that way,He can trust us to do His work. There are so few in the fields...................

[SUP]Revelation 3:17
17 [/SUP]Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:"
[SUP]18 [/SUP]I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
[SUP]
20 [/SUP]Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.[SUP]
21 [/SUP]To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
***********************************************************

The church "of the Laodiceans" is not about Christians. It is about apostates! Does the scripture above sound like it was written to people who are saved? They are described as "wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked". Jesus stands at the door and knocks!

This was written to the church "of the Laodiceans". Look at the intro to all the other churches. This is the only one written this way! This is about an apostate church. Apostate = unbelievers. They have not believed the gospel. This is obvious by the scripture to me. Just read it!

The apostate church are those who were once in the church. They renounced their faith by turning and walking away altogether or by teaching another gospel.

The laodecian church are those who claim to be christians and are neither hot or cold. That is why Christ said it is better to be hot or cold rather than lukewarm. Lukewarm cannot be of use in his kingdom except to serve as an example of what not to be.

This is your understanding, doesn't mean it is correct.

Here is a series of grace-based articles on the people in the church of the Laodiceans..

Jesus does not spit out body parts folks so this lukewarm business must have to do with something other then a believer being spewed out of His mouth as is religiously taught.

The articles below will bless you as you discover the love and grace of our Lord to all of us.

https://escapetoreality.org/category/laodicean-church/

( I like to use this site as it tackles some of the obscure scriptures and people ask questions at the bottom of the articles. Sometimes I learn as much from there as I do in the article. )

That is how I understand it. Lukewarm water is a mixture of hot water and cold water.

Since I know scripture teaches that salvation cannot be lost (man doesn't "undo" a work of God), I know that apostate cannot EVER mean a loss of salvation. You are free to dig up any dictionary meaning that man wrote that you wish, but it will never change the Word of God. All you have to do is read the scripture. Do these people sound like they have ever been saved? Do any of these descriptions apply to believers in other parts of the bible."blind, naked, wretched, miserable, poor"?

These are ALL used to describe unbelievers in other parts of the bible, never believers. Does Jesus stand outside the door and knock at a believers door? NO, believers are "one spirit with Him" 1 Cor. 6:17. There is no such thing as a believer who has been made "one with Christ" ever losing salvation, because we are "kept" by Him (1 Peter 3:5)

Why is this so hard to grasp? The Spirit should be leading us both in the same direction of Gods Word.

Actually, it is not hard to grasp at all. Id appreciate you not assertaining what you deem I grasp or do not grasp. There are some who do depart from the faith which btw is what you have brought to this thread. My OP is about the lukewarm. Those who are neither hot or cold. But to entertain your sentiment:
1Timothy 4:1
1Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2influenced by the hypocrisy of liars, whose consciences are seared with a hot iron.…

Now. if you would like to make your own OP about apostasy, by all means do so. This OP is about the lukewarm christians. I appreciate your cooperation:)

"Some" is not talking about people who are saved.

Unto the EKKLESIA write ......yes they are saved. The ekklesia refers to His people.

He's not talking to catholics, mormons, JW's, scientogists, muslims, bhuddists, hindoos, etc. etc. They are not His. They are not part of the ekklesia. Why would he spew out those He's never taken in?

"Some" is not talking about people who are saved.
There are some who were truly saved and chose to depart.

Commentary
Matthew Henry Commentary
4:1-5 The Holy Spirit, both in the Old and the New Testament, spoke of a general turning from the faith of Christ, and the pure worship of God. This should come during the Christian dispensation, for those are called the latter days. False teachers forbid as evil what God has allowed, and command as a duty what he has left indifferent. We find exercise for watchfulness and self-denial, in attending to the requirements of God's law, without being tasked to imaginary duties, which reject what he has allowed. But nothing justifies an intemperate or improper use of things; and nothing will be good to us, unless we seek by prayer for the Lord's blessing upon it.

Why did you not include verse 3?

1 Timothy 4:3
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

In every "church" there are going to be tares in with the wheat. Jesus told us about them in Matt 13. Jesus loves them too as well as the true believers and He ahs words to speak to them. This letter of John's was to go around to these 7 churches in Asia. In some places He is talking to believers and in some cases unbelievers.

Remember do not take someone else's medicine!

Never allow obscure scriptures rob you of the clear abundance of scriptures that reveal Jesus to us and of His finished work for us.

Check out this grace-based teachings. It'll bless you and you will fall deeper in love with the Lord.
