Focusing on demons is just WRONG.

Instead, focus on the fact that God is in control, and that Christ has conquered everything.

"He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." Col. 2:15

Rulers and authorities are the demonic powers.

Please note: They are disarmed. Demons do not control Christians.
Angela, if this is true, then why did the demons in me not leave when I accepted Christ?

Why did I have to battle them for years after I became a Christian?

Had I come to you for help with my demonic problems, what would you of said or done?

God has given his followers power to cast out demons but we should still be vigilant and aware of demonic activity and influence.
There is demonic activity and influence in a lot of areas nowadays because the devil knows that his time is short.
A lot of demonic activity is seemingly innocent at first and is so easy to overlook.
It is easy for the young children of our generation to become demon possessed or oppressed without even knowing it.
Music, movies, cartoons, magazines, bordgames, video games etc can all have demonic influence on us and our kids if we are not vigilant and remain in constant prayer.
God gives us the ability to discern too which is a really good weapon in staying free from demonic possession and influence.
That's why Jesus said to separate ourselves form the world and things of the world.

That is a question that requires a scary answer. When the Holy Spirit comes to abide in the heart all else is cast out.

We are saved from the power of sin but not the presence of sin.

My question still remains though. "If a demon possessed person becomes a Christian will the demons flee?"

I was demon possessed and I was being tormented by them even after I became a Christian. Also the bible never mentions "If a demon possessed person becomes a Christian the demons will flee." Angela posted a scripture that has nothing to do with demon possessen to prove Christians can't be demon possessed.

Quite frankly, I believe the statement "A Christian can't have a demon" to be a doctrine from demons so demon possessed Christians will not get the help they need. That statement is half right and half wrong. If a Christian is limiting sin in her life and trusting under God's wing, she will be protected by God and never be demon possessed. On the other hand, if she blatantly sins and does not repent for it, she might end up with a demon.

Demon possession is not a christian/unbeliever issue. It is a sin related issue. It really is just that simple.

Demon possession (here we go again!) refers to OWNERSHIP BY THE DEMON OF THE HUMAN. True demonic possession in the US is VERY RARE. However, OPpression is the INFLUENCE of demonic entities that interfere with, challenge you, and oppresse you as you pursue Life. When you possess a house, you OWN the house. When you possess a car, you OWN the car. Demons must be given permission by a human and willingly turn control of their life over to the demon in order to be OWNED by a demon. So, Danschance, it is highly unlikely that you were truly Possessed of demons, but rather severely Oppressed. And you are correct in saying that becoming a Christian...becoming Born again, does not rid ourselves of demons. It gives us a clean slate and all of our PAST sins are erased. But until we are willingly delivered and set free through confession of sin, of generational iniquity and curses, we will still have the PROPENSITY TOWARDS all those past sins. We are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling....and it is through deliverance that that is done.

Not really, have you ever heard of rituals were parents surrenders their children to evil spirits before the child is born? Their are ways were people get possessed through video games, books, ect. were the demon takes over their mind and they loose self control and are broke in the spirit when they realize they are. Each person needs to be cautious what kind of seed is falling on his field because when the harvest come they might find lots of thristles and thorns.

I don't know much about possessions and how does exactly it happening, but i know for sure how demons attacks. Those r very dangerous creatures which do not sleep nor eat,but watching on man soul carefully and every day speaking sweet words on ear.
Life of man is full of battles, every day of batteries with legions of demons.Let we read one on thousands quotes of Holy Fathers.
'The demons either tempt us themselves or arm against us those who have no fear of the Lord. They tempt us themselves when we withdraw from human society, as they, tempted our Lord in the desert. They tempt us through other people when we spend our time in the company of others, as they tempted our Lord through the Pharisees. But whichever line of attack they choose, let us repel them by keeping our gaze fixed on the Lord's example.' St. Maximos the Confessor

Perhaps you need to read the Bible in this matter, instead of consulting with Catholic priests. As for demonic possession by Christians, show me one example in the Bible.

In fact, you have completely ignored the verse I posted. Did Christ defeat and disarm the demons or not? That is what all the versions I searched said.

Sorry, you people are talking folk theology here. None of it is scriptural.

I am the only one who actually posted Bible verses about this topic. Search the Bible and come back with some verses, besides the two in Mark I quoted.

I had a friend send me this incredibly stupid video from some Florida preacher about casting demons out of Christians, and demons oppressing Christians and causing disease. It really caused the end of our friendship. But not before I showed her all the ways the Bible says how WRONG this folk theology is.

I'm out of here. Read the Bible, instead of watching internet preachers who are liars and deceivers, along with Catholic priests who told you that you were demon possessed!

By the way, this is a Bible forum. Perhaps you could talk about the Bible in posts, instead of lies and nonsense!

Scripture teaches us that when a person is born again they become a new creature in Christ. Old things are passed away and all things become new. 2 Cor 5:17 5:21 teaches that we are the righteousness of God in Christ. Where or how could a demon tolerate the righteousness of God? There is no conceivable way for a demon to possess a born again Christian. Perhaps you should examine how you were saved and make certain it checks with what scripture teaches. Darkness flees from the Light.

It is a believer vs non-believer issue. Does sin always indicate the presence of a demon?

Man itself isn't capable to do any sin,but as it isn't possible because sin is always with us(because of fallen nature called flesh)demons always attacks us.Were we baptized or not, confessed or not, they will be there with us.Only rarely rised so hight in faith that demons couldn't dare to attacks them.
Extreme Humility is the Path to Salvation.

Perhaps you need to read the Bible in this matter, instead of consulting with Catholic priests. As for demonic possession by Christians, show me one example in the Bible.
1) First off, I knew I needed help and felt I could only go to a Catholic priest. I felt people like you would either not believe me or think I was crazy. Look how you are reacting to this topic by pejoratively refer to it as "folk theology".

2) Judas was a believer in Christ and satan entered into him. If that is not clear enough for you plus my own testimony then nothing will be.
Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” John 13:27

In fact, you have completely ignored the verse I posted. Did Christ defeat and disarm the demons or not? That is what all the versions I searched said.
If satan is disarmed as you claim then why would paul say:
11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Eph. 6:11-13
and

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8
Clearly your exegesis of Col. 2:15 is off as these two verses above clearly discredit they very same thing you claim. Col. 2:15 is not talking about believers being safe from satan. It is only saying Christ defeated satan.

1) we are talking about the bible, discussing scriptures and how they apply to the believer today.

2) That video was "INCREDIBLY STUPID" only in your opinion. Your friend sent it to you because she felt it was important. I can't believe why a video would end a friendship unless that friendship was incredibly shallow.

3) "I'm out of here"... Well, that is your choice, but I have never seen a person blow up and go berserk over such a small thing like this. Look how you reacted to a friend who sent you a video on a deliverance. Seems like you have a problem to me, a problem of angel at others who do not think like you do.

4) I asked you what you would of done is a person came to you and asked for help because they are demon possessed. I am sure you would of called them incredibly stupid or worse.

Believers cannot be possessed because they are OWNED by the Holy Spirit.
A person may be severely oppressed but he/she still has the free will to call on the name of Jesus Christ.
Most severely oppressed persons ...and I do mean severely, are in mental institutions and even jail as criminally insane....and some, but certainly not all, are even Possessed....but they lack the saving knowledge of Christ and His Word. Hos 4:6 covers a multitude of conditions, situations and destinies....or the lack thereof.

I have to tell you something that happened to me as a child, I was at school playing with my friend on the play ground out of no where a tetherball rope wraped round my neck to strangle me to take my life. It was like time stood still and until I hit the ground my friend said what's happening did I see what I saw? the Principle called my mom to come take me home from school because of the rope burns on my neck they couldn't explain it, they were all in confusion.

You know nothing about me or what I went thru yet you ignorantly claim I wasn't possessed. Here is something I wrote 2 months after I reconnected with God. http://christianchat.com/blogs/dans...n-couple-months-after-becoming-christian.html

After that I had a number of demons cast out and here are a few other names: Baphomet, Baal, Ashteroth, Depression, Death and Jezebel. The only outward sings I had was one day I climbed out of bed and my calves had what looked like cat scratches on them. There is a person who recently joined this site who can confirm my claims if you want to insist on claiming I was not possessed.

As further proof here is a scripture that actually claims psychics are possessed:
16One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a demon-possessed slave girl. She was a fortune-teller who earned a lot of money for her masters. 17She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”
18This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her. Acts 16:16-18
You are wrong about many things in you above post, but I don't wish to address them all in one post.
