I totally agree. That's a great illustration.
We were born in sin, but we have the free will to receive Christ and obey God or not, and suffer its consequences.
We are born with a sinful unregenerate nature.

According to the NT, that nature can do nothing that pleases God (Ro 8:7-8).

We must first be born again (Jn 3:3).

the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 1 Peter 5:10
Yes, God who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus (Php 1:6) when we will be like him (1Jn 3:2).

What translation are you quoting?! I cannot believe it says in plain English: "
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ"
Godforbid we leave the principles of the doctrine of Jesus Christ.
Well, with deep regret, that is the King James, as a matter of fact, specifically regret that, clearly, this is not something many seem to understand. I take it you're not even familiar with the verse!

Half of CC is arguing law and what Christ's blood does or does not, and
I'm seeing an age group, largely, post-puberty
. Do people wish to be serious? Get serious.
Get past Sunday School, if the childish bickering can cease long enough.
No need for regret.

"Principles" are the basic elementary teachings of Christian doctrine.

The writer of Hebrews is saying it's time to get past Sunday school.

How can we be perfect?...

2 Tim. 3:16,17 Every scripture inspired of God [is] also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.
17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.
"God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus" (Php 1:6) when "we shall be like him" (1Jn 3:2).

We must first be born again (Jn 3:3).
Then after we're born again we take on the new creation the second man and walk as jesus did. after we're born again we become pure in heart, jesus said that no one can see the kingdom of god unless he is born again. he said blessed are the pure in heart for we shall see the kingdom. being pure in heart means that there is no impurity. we take on the heavenly wisdom (james 3) that is first of all pure which always sows into righteousness. what comes out of the heart, this is what determined a man to be clean or unclean. if we are pure in heart we are totally clean in heart and everything that would come out of it would be spotless.

what this particular thread is about that i post: i'm here as an apologetic to defend the faith and the purity of the Scriptures. i'm here to declare the word of God. i knowningly posted this expecting to receive many different views and opinions. to be honest with you i know nothing in the sense that the more i know the less i know. but one thing i do know is the knowledge of Scripture that has been left here for us.
Revelator, as long as you set the Scriptures against themselves,
as you do in Mt 5:48 and 1Jn 2:8, 10,
here,
you do not, and cannot, understand them correctly,
for God does not contradict himself in his word written.

Your knowledge of the Scriptures will need some serious revamping
to harmonize what you see as contradictory.

And the apostle John says otherwise in 1Jn 2:8, 10.

You're gonna' have to decide who to believe, yourself or the apostle John.

Whether you're saved or not, there is no such thing as authentic perfection existing today on this earth. Not in the way that Jesus was perfect. Even a born-again saved person falls prey to lustful thoughts and urges, and pride and envy, etc, from time to time. We all have impure thoughts. We all do impure actions. We all sin. Not one of us can say "I am free of sin, of impurity, of hatred, etc etc etc."

Perfection to me is not in how something looks but it is in how something works. Imagine a door. The door is made out of the finest wood and it has carvings of images of the most beautiful craftsmanship inlaid in it. The door has a knob that is made of crystal glass. The only problem is this door doesn't close right and it makes a horrible loud sound when you open and close it. Now imagine a door that is beat up and looks like it belongs in a run down shack. But the door closes right and is the quietest door, no squeaking. Which door is perfect? The one that works. It is my opinion that simple obedience to God in all things is what makes a Christian perfect. The Bible says the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
It's my opinion that "perfect" means to be without sin.

Eph 1:4 says Christians are to "holy and without blame"
Eph 5:27 says the church is to without spot or wrinkle.
2 Pet 3:14 says Christians are to be without spot, blameless.

God is sinless, heaven is a place without sin, so the issue is how can Christians, who do sin (1 Jn 1:8-10), ever be perfect, spotless, blameless, holy, without wrinkle and enter a sinless place as heaven?

Col 1:28 "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:"

When one is water baptized all his past sins are remitted (Acts 2:38), he is baptized into Christ (Gal 3:27). By remaining obedient in continually walking in the light, then Christ's blood continually cleanses away ALL sins the Christian commits (1 Jn 1:7) thereby keeping the Christian perfect, spotless, blameless, without wrinkle. But again, being perfect/spotless/blameless can only take place as long as the Christian obediently remains in Christ Jesus

It takes obedience to get in Christ Jesus, it takes obedience to remain in Christ Jesus therefore being perfect/spotless/blameless requires a sustained obedience.

100 percent perfection in terms of sinlessness- is impossible for humans. Being a mature, biblically grounded christian in a good church is not impossible.. and this is what the bible is saying for us to be like.
Bro, being MATURE (Huios) biblically grounded Christ follower is not impossible.. You just described a perfect sinless Christian right there. As humbly and as loving as i can say it, you contradicted yourself in that statement.
Ah, I don't think you got what my post was saying.

I was saying being a mature biblically grounded Christ follower IS possible.. but not a perfectly sinless person.

Even a mature biblically grounded Christ follower in a good church still sins from time to time.

Perfectly sinless and mature are not the same thing.

It takes obedience to get in Christ Jesus,
Not according to Eph 2:8-9; Ro 1:17, 5:17.

Obedience comes as the result of being in Christ Jesus,
not the means of getting into Christ Jesus.
