Open question for all:

Am I alone in saying that the relationship between God and His child is active as reality? Or, does He speak to us through Scripture only?
It Has to be active.
That's why the Word is living.
Have you ever noticed how you can read a passage from the Bible- (get something out of it); then read it at a latter time and get something else (completely new) out of it?
That IS active, and the Word IS living - (As is the Holy Spirit)

in Biblical context its not creepy.

the way that message is written first person,

its creepy. makes you think you are marrying your father.

putting your hand in His wounded side and tasting it..

that's .......creepy.

where do you find this in scripture chris "causing each of their members to tingle.." ?

tingle is not used in a positive light in the Bible.

but hey if its your cup of tea.. me, i'm going back to reading the bible.

I would take 'tingle' to mean 'lively' as it bolts through one in a realization of Truth. It is not my cup of tea either, but I do see it as a poem. Yes, Ariel, I too will stick to Scripture.

Love you sister, as you know, we are married to the Son :)

Okay for all you naysayers god does not speak just through his word. He talks to me all the time, I hear his voice plenty of times. Besides he talks to all of we just have to know how to listen and hear his voice. Its actually most of the time quite warm and encouraging:] One time he blessed

He speaks to me all the time anld most of the time it's a warm and encouraging voice however one time he blessed me with a commanding voice that made me instantly obey

And Blain,

Don't ever let anyone take that relationship away from you. What a blessing is missed when that relationship is nothing more than words.

according to you His Word is ongoing.
He is speaking creepy new things, First Person through people.
right?

and anyone who points that out is claiming a dead God or dead faith?
i hear this rubbish all the time from people who just are not satisfied with what God has given us.
always looking for something new - and always eating it up.

did you change your mind on this matter chris?
since yesterday?
i don't know...i guess i'll keep reading and see if you are still promoting a demonic spirit claiming to be The Living God.

oh....what happened to yesterday's assault on the sufficiency of Scripture and the already revealed truth of the God-breathed scriptures? huh?

no retraction of that?

you're just as dangerous as the guy who posted that stuff as if it came from the lips of God.

I assaulted the sufficiency of Scripture?
I assulted the already revealed truth of the God-breathed scriptures?

Are you ok there Zone?

Yes Scripture is all we need!!! Have you easily forgotten your earnest desire for outside sources?

I think before you can correct another, you have to practice what you preach there.

Nice try though.

Blain, you've been saved six months.
and you've been patiently and kindly warned about relying on dreams, voices and visions over the Bible - which is God's Word.
it's trustworthy, and set.
your imagination or dreams are not trustworthy.

the sooner you recognize that God has spoken to us by His Son, and the Bible is The Living God's Revealed Word, and the Spirit of Truth will never testify or reveal anything not in alignment with what is written, the safer you will be.

if the Spirit is in you, He will not lead you to rely on subjectivity.

beware of mysticism.

God Bless in Christ Our Lord.

chris, outside sources concerning anything are legitimate.
people speaking as God are not.

if you don't know this, what is there to say?

there are only 30+ posts in this thread. anyone can see your position.
perhaps you ought to be more careful.
get discernment.

I find it interesting when I see people talk about God and His word and that we cannot add or take away from it and that its ONLY the bible that is God breathed and complete in its entirety. Jesus was God right? Do we see EVERY SINGLE WORD He spoke from the day he started to talk? The conversations He had with his mum as he grew up? The conversations that he had with the disciples. we don't get 3 years worth of conversation in the Bible. When Jesus spoke his first word....was that not God speaking also? Even in the book of Jude v 14 we see a quote referring to the book of Enoch....a book that was removed, taken away (I wouldnt like to be in the guys shoes who did that one!) Also it says in Revelation "that if anyone adds or takes away from this book of prophecy"..what is the book it is referring to?....Revelation! that book is for EVERYONE about the world....doesnt stop God given personal revelation or prophecy depending on your situation in life. People should stop trying to put God in a box.

Jesus said that upon THIS Rock my church is built.......what is the rock...Revelation!!!! thats what Peter had just had when Jesus said those words. He had a revelation from the Father...He didnt say upon YOU...but upon THIS. Personal revelation from God IS how His church is built and the Gates of Hell will NOT prevail against it. When God speaks into your life you become immovable!

I am discerning.

When we post without directly quoting Scripure, and instead paraphrase what Jesus or God said, that is the same as speaking on their behalf.

What concerns me is telling someone to step away from their real relationship with God, instead of exhorting them to learn Scripture to make sure they know which spirit is speaking to them, as Scripture very much tells us to do.

What concerns me is the exclusion of the many examples in Scrirpture which tells us that God does talk to His children in visions, dreams, even in a still voice. But yet, they are told such is not trustworthy. And still yet, no exhorting them to go and verify it with Scripture.

What concerns me is the exhortation of staying away from a lively relationship with God.

personal revelation from God is what the church is founded on?
really?

yes, we have untold thousands who want us to believe that.

The church is founded on CHRIST, the Cornerstone, and His apostles.
that's the foundation and there is no other to be laid.
Peter's profession was the Divinely Revealed identification of Christ as the Son of The Living God.

christians are living stones built ONTO that foundation or they are something else altogether.

what does this mean - "when God speaks into your life"?

where's that in scripture? (it isn't)

these are the last words in my Bible, and they were spoken by Jesus, Whom God revealed to peter:

Revelation 22
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.f Amen.

~

people can play games with that all day long.
why anyone wants to is beyond me.

all fancy footwork.
and complete infancy at work.
an irresponsibility and recklessness with the things God has given us...and an unwillingness to admit that you have listened to the voice of another, not Christ.
this tells me everything i need to know.

warning people to stay away from lying spirits claiming God is speaking directly for you equates to "the exhortation of staying away from a lively relationship with God" - which i hear all the time as an excuse for extra-biblical mysticism and false prophecy and false prophets.

The Holy Spirit will NEVER approve of that stuff. ever.

fill ye up with them.

you own your stuff.
not me.

Very interesting to see Zone that you answered using scripture with YOUR understanding yet never mentioned a single word about all the conversations Jesus had that were never recorded :)

ANYONE who thinks what we have in the bible is the completed work of Jesus's words they are deluded
