If what you say is true, then how do account for Acts 19.1-6 and the 12 disciples.

Paul was speaking, listening and conversing with with those men in the same human language yet when he laid hands on them they prophesied and spoke in tongues.

If your doctrine is true, then that verse would prove to be a lie.

Why? Because Paul and the men were already talking in a human language Paul and the other men knew and understood, and nobody but Paul, Luke and the 12 men were around, so there was no need for the 12 to be speaking a different human language to anyone else. Yet when the Holy Spirit came upon the 12 they prophesied and spoke in tongues.

I am sure, as a cessastionist , you have a carnal answer this, but the fact remains, something else was going on here and Acts 19.1-6 refutes your human language theory.

Your zeal is clouding your ability to see what the scriptures are teaching. Acts 19 is simply men who heard Johns gospel of repentance preached in preparation for the coming of Messiah. Paul simply gave them the rest of the story whereupon they were saved by the gospel of Jesus Christ and born again. The baptism of the Holy Spirit accompanies the new birth and they evidenced this by speaking in tongues. This was evident that the Jews would know they were now of the same belief as the apostles and the disciples from Jerusalem.

Pentecost was a filling of the Holy Spirit and the tongues were spoken being heard in the ears of those present in their own native languages. I have met no one in the Pentecostal nor charismatic churches that claim to evidence the same tongues as seen at Pentecost.

The witness of tongues in the modern church is nothing like Pentecost and there is no good evidence of the tongues spoken elsewhere in the NT. What was said is omitted. What it sounded like is omitted.

no its not everyone r born of HIS SPIRIT are baptized by ONE BAPTISM and ONE SPIRIT and yes into ONE LORD who gives to those who are of and in ONE BODY as HE purposes

Not all in the ONE BODY have the same gifts

I went to one of those churches back in the day and they never taught that one was not a Christian is they did not speak in tongues... they just said it was important and it is.

If you don't mind not having the Holy Spirit pray the perfect will of God thru you, and you don't mind the devil being able to understand everything you pray... then go without.

And, it most likely isn't satan himself standing there listening to us... it's one of his minions who seek to act against us in any way they can so if they can hear what we say, that gives them a heads up on what we are doing.
