Anyone can use scripture to prove their point even Atheists do this when arguing with Christians but there is a difference with using scripture and using it in the right way. I don't use scripture near as much as others here in forums to prove my point but when I do use it Very few have ever told me I used it in the wrong context although I am sure I have done so as I myself am not all knowing in what the scriptures say. But like how many words lead to a rant yet few words shows wisdom I believe that using the scriptures a lot in you attempt to prove your point can lead to a misunderstanding and misuse of the scriptures while perhaps using it carefully can lead to more context and meaning.

The bible is like an onion or the earths crust it has many many layers, anyone can look up scriptures to fit their words perfectly and prove their point but the issue is five people can look at the same verse and get at least four different interpretations from it. I think God grants understanding to his word more to those whose motives are his motives, not to prove ourselves right or to attack others but to help and build others up and to help guide them. I mean you can post seven different scriptures top prove your point but what moves people isn't the verse you posted it's the heart behind the posts.
You are on fire brother. You have been taught welll...keep you attitude and never lose it (as humanly possible)

Bless you

I cannot take any credit the only teacher I have ever had was God himself, I wish I had a teacher to learn under where I live but I am kind of secluded in that sense but hey who better to learn from than the main teacher himself right?

Every church is "built on the bible" in the "What we believe" section of their website, maybe we should try to build one on the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit and the Bible work together (Hebrews 4:12,13) so if a person is interpreting the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the interpretation should be consistent with Gospel truth and Bible truth. Which means that all Christians should be in full agreement because "the Bible says so".

The problem arises because the world and Christendom fall into the categories shown in the Parable of the Sower. So what do we have? There are at least six categories of people coming to the Bible, therefore we should not expect the same understanding.

1. The wayside -- no Scripture just humanistic ideas

2. Stony places, no earth -- shallow understanding of the Gospel and Bible truth

3. Thorns -- worldly affairs have first priority, Scripture has low priority

4. Good ground -- true Christians at different levels of maturity and fruitfulness

1. Thirtyfold -- beginners

2. Sixtyfold -- growing

3. Hundredfold -- mature

Blain: Long story.... although I ended up doing the same and relying more and more on the spirit of truth as my guide...and you know it really works as the key to understanding. I have made so many spiritual break thrus in scripture understanding...I had been searching for meanings on things for years (not every day) and suddenly it come as the right time. Praise God our Father 'Abba' and our Lord Jesus Christ as in the old fashion salutation and greeting.

Well said Nehemiah6: The summation is something to read and re read for understanding and x-ref with scripture. At a glance I see some scripture verses aligned with each line entry.

I admit he has been more than amazing in teaching and guiding me but I don't think just anyone can learn this way, see I learned his voice very early on mainly because I honestly had no one else he teaches and speaks to me in ways that are simply strange he even will do so with something that seemingly has nothing to do with him. Everything just seems flow with him and it's that flow that allows him to teach me like he does but not everyone knows this flow or his voice and need actual teachers. Personally as much as I love his guiding and teaching me I do still wish I had someone of the same kind of spirit to teach and help guide. I mean I am only five years into this and if there was someone who love and knows God in the same manner I do but with much more years and experience on their belts I think it would help me to grow at an even faster pace.

I have been told by many that i am much stronger and much more mature in love and in faith than I should be with only this amount of years of being saved and if that is true again I cannot take credit however I cannot help but feel that if this is true it's because he needs me to be very strong in love and in him for something that is coming and that he is rushing me and making me stronger at such a pace because of how little time there is of whatever is coming he needs me to be strong for.

I would like to use this Mark 4 parable in relation to the value of scripture in 'all; types of people. I may find other gems of truth with it or in it.

Why do Christians fight over bible passages?

I've done it, but my conscience tells me this is not how to have a healthy relationship with someone.

Let's see if we can converse in this thread without using bible verses to validate our beliefs. Do you remember that, when you reasoned and objectified without having to smash someone over the head with bible verses.

Sometimes I don't like being a Christian.
Look savedtoast, that's the nature of the beast in debate. Tables are pounded, emotions flare up, and you sometimes say things in the heat of the moment you wish you could take back. But there is good news in all of this and many people are not aware of what 1 Corinthians 11:19 says?

"For there must also be factions among you, (why) in order that those who are approved may have become evident among you." First of all there were factions in the Corinthian church. The Apostle Paul was not advocating factions, but in this sinful world they do happen. Men at times get things our of balance and these factions do serve a purpose. They sift out the loyal from the disloyal, the good from the bad. These factions leave the genuine believers standing out/approved by their loyalty, strength, and constancy. Those approved by God become manifest to other men. And btw, factions can mean "heresies or sects" among you.

Lastly, you said in another post that you have been searching for a church for 3 years? No wonder you have not been water baptized. You better get your act together savedtoast and please tell me who is Jesus Christ?

IN GOD THE SON,

You know I bet we wouldn't speak to each other like we do here on bdf if we were face to face, the thing about being online is that we are safe behind a computer screen it's a security mentality and so this is why we show who we really are online or speak to each other in a way we wouldn't face to face which is why I made these

I think sometimes people lose their temper if you don't agree with them.
thats one problem. The other is insults. Neither should be but insults do have a way of stirring anger up.

Also untruths, whether intentional, or unintentional; people get angry.

So forgive.
