Hungry- thank you for this thread, I appreciate what you are sharing of your ongoing walk with Him and look forward to
following it further. It looks like we will continue to grow and learn even after this life.
I mentioned John Wimber's Personal Testimony and hope you have had the time to take it in, He really did answer the knock
on the door of his heart and lived his life seeking to do G-d's will.
Andrew Wommack is another teacher I am growing through at this time, I fine him each morning on the internet, I don't have TV anymore, I choose not to bring that into His home that He has provided me with.
Bless you

I agree with you the people that are claiming or the ones that have claimed that they got new revelation aside from scripture are obviously being deceived. I know in my own personal life the Holy Spirit has given me revelation about different scriptures, But I don't have the holy spirit telling me to re-write the bible or to give ppl some kind of special revelation or new revelation apart from HIS WORD...

God has spoken to me through other people and from reading His Word ... I have heard God on a few occasions a still small voice but it wasn't Him telling me some special revelation or anything like that...

Jesus Him self said that we will not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)

The bread is the natural life our bodies need natural food to survive... The word of God is the spiritual food that we need to survive... A lot of people are living in the natural life only and need to be living in the spirit of God... I'm no better than anyone else I get caught up in the flesh to at times so I'm not excluded or better than anyone... I'm speaking from my own experience..

Maybe the people that are having these special revelations are experiencing these things "in the natural"....We all need Jesus... HIS LEADING, HIS SPIRIT, HIS TEACHING, HIS WORD... its all bout HIM, not us....

There is a stern warning about adding or taking away from Gods word in Revelation 22:18 : For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

Be weary of "special revelations" apart from scripture.. Its dangerous....

The book of Acts is normal Christianity, we have missed it for about 1900 years.
Jesus told us in the last days "they will have an outward form but deny the power".
Not a new revelation, He wants His church back.
We don't arrive at faith and just rest we are to continue to grow in Him.

this is fed up of church speak

read the book of Acts again and the rest of the new testament. much error crept into the church from that time of its beginnings and nothing has changed

people do not know their Bibles and they accept strange things and believe it is the Holy Spirit because they think God would not allow them to be deceived even though Jesus warned His followers over and over that deception is what they had to be on guard for

God wants His church back? what does that even mean? God is the One who takes care of His own and He has things under control and no amount of saying otherwise will change one single thing

Andrew Wommack did not write this thread and one of my brothers is actually attending one of his schools so let'snot use Mr Wommack as any sort of evidence that he is an agreement with this thread because what I know of Mr Wommack would lead me to think otherwise

Hungry I couldn't help but smile while reading your post about how you mentally explained the physical and chemical reason why you find a certain woman attractive...I went through the same thing because I am also a thinking person. Yes, we are programmed so to speak to find certain things attractive, I know that in my head, however if a beautiful woman acted friendly toward me I would probably temporarily float off into lala hand...you can't beat nature. Years ago when I was single I got so tired of trying not to see attractiveness in women that I found attractive that I prayed to the Lord to take away my manly desire for women. The Lord actually spoke to me and said, I can't do that because I made you a man. So I just relaxed and if an attractive woman came into sight I just looked at her and thought, how lovely(not yummy) and just went on. My advise, don't worry too much about the woman thing, just try to think how lovely and just keep moving on.

I heard God speak to me once about 4 or 5 years ago. We were doing a sermon series at church called Does God listen and a lot was happening in my life like family having health problems with illnesses and stuff. I was at work going to the public washroom to clean it and I heard my name and I looked around I thought it was a customer nobody called my name. I went into the bathroom and was sweeping and I heard my name again in a firm and soft voice and sounded like someone was right beside me said my name and nobody was in the bathroom but me. I went home after my shift was done and called my aunt and we both agreed it was God talking to me and trying to get my attention on something.

My little daughter had a somewhat similar experience, she was in the church alone when a friendly sounding voice said to her, good morning Mary, she looked all around and there was no one in the church.

You know I wasn't posting because I was offended until you posted that.

Initially I posted because I like encouraging people to have a personal relationship with God and to say God does hear and answer prayers.

Then I posted because your post were incomplete and confusing and I wanted to understand what you were saying.

Now I am offended because you have basically dismissed my words because you don't like it and then attribruted motives to my posts that aren't there.

Makes me realize that I have better things to do then continue this conversation.

Reread your own words and clarify your thoughts and you make be a better ambassador for Christ.

Me, I am dressed for colonial times and gonna spend the morning teaching 4th graders how to dip candles at our historical reenactment site.

Bye. I may or may not be back.
You really have no understanding you did the exact same thing to me a few weeks ago, do you? (As in you took that I was being offensive, when I wasn't. And then you became offensive, so "put me on ignore.")

It started a couple of years ago but everyday is a new day with learning experiences. I wouldn't have felt that I was accurate enough in these beliefs, even a year ago, to invite ridicule for them. I'm not saying that all here haven't been perfectly polite, but I opened a door that anybody could have walked through. New insight may lead to tweaking what I already know, even still I am not saying everything is hammered down 100%. I am open to learning and still pray for wisdom. All that I can tell you is that the Creator is a fantastic engineer and if all I knew of Him was His handiwork, it would be enough to worship Him. Him being such a loving Father only makes it easier to lay down my life.
I asked because this...
Let me just say this. I went through a spell of absolutely hating my life. Everything made me miserable. I hated my marriage, and being a dad. My whole existence was just to serve them, and silently suffering. Every day was the same pointless busyness with no tangible fruit. Just a hamster in a wheel. I was laid off and spent a lot of time studying everything and hours in prayer and meditation. Every day I prayed for wisdom with faith. The more I filled my mind, the more everything made sense. I realized the source for all of my pain. Expectation was a big part of it. As well, God explained to me much of how the body and the brain functions and why and how He created us. When you realize that most of desire just has to do with chemical reactions in the brain, and programming since we were born and even before that, you realize that everything is manageable. I still get angry, but most times it is easy to identify why and then I deal with the problem instead of allowing emotions to take over. Before I would look at a woman and think, that looks yummy, I hope she checks me out. I still see the same woman but can rationalize that the attractive nature in that vessel, is designed to set in motion biological reactions engineered for mating, and procreating. Since I already have a wife and four children, there is no need to allow my vessel to react. My alpha male tendencies become void, bypassed by a higher functioning system, my mind under the power of the Spirit. You can let your flesh control your mind or let the Spirit control your mind. These are the two natures often talked about by Paul. You are correct though, "mastering the flesh", might be an exaggeration. I also understand how dopamine and serotonin function in the brain and by not feeding the brain too much pleasure, you have both better control over the flesh and greater joy, in minor things. It's funny because not much has changed. Same wife, same kids, busier schedule, different me. I don't feel like driving my car off of a cliff (not that I would have before). My decision to not turn to this world expecting any enjoyment prevents me from being continually disappointed. Occasionally I am pleasantly surprised.
...didn't match with something you posted in another forum on this site. It did sound like the first seven sentences of what you wrote here. And it did seem like you'd silently endure the same life to make others happy.

A week later and you are still holding onto that Lynn? (truthfully looked up the thread you are referring to, it's been over a month ago)

I could say more but it would derail this thread.

Personally waiting for Hungry response to see if I want to continue this conversation with him or not.

It was going pretty decent for BDF.

Since the beginning G-d has spoken to His people, it is no different now.
Nobodies church died for their sins, Jesus Christ did.

No I am not responding out of being offended. I am responding because you make statements like "if you don't care about the flesh, you can't sin!"

Which means you don't understand sin or you ignore when you do it.

If you said "if you focus on following the Holy Spirit, you will be too busy doing God's will, you won't have time to do Satan's." I would agree with you. However, I would add we often get distracted by this world and our own desires and, that is when we are tempted to sin. Most people are honest enough to admit to not following God completely 100% 24/7.
Sorry it's been a busy week. As I was glancing over the responses on this thread at a later time the second time I read your post it didn't strike me as emotionally charged as the first time. Maybe when I saw statements like people need to be like me it read accusatory. Most people get like that when they are offended, so my apologies.

Without desire there is no temptation, no temptation no sin. When you come to the realization that all of the things we want are just programmed by society, you begin to see how purposeless most things are. We as a whole have been brainwashed. Our physical being is not unlike any mammal. My dog eats the same thing every day. He has never been neutered and hasn't had sex since he was born six years ago. He sleeps on the floor. He's probably the happiest animal I have ever seen. Humans in Canada at least live at a level of luxury that even nobles couldn't compare to a few hundred years prior and still it's not enough. I choose to accept that it is enough. It's not a choice to say I'm not going to sin, it's a choice to say thanks God, I don't need anything and don't want anything.

Being content in whatever state God has blessed us in is a very profound lesson.

Another one I strive to remember is we don't have to hurry and rush through life. We can take time to be present in the moment and not rush to the next task. Not worrying about tomorrow, but focusing on today.

A good question Ariel. Just like the weeds, that are like the cares of life, and the temptations, distractions, and other things, we give our attention to willingly/ or unwillgly sometimes as a crutch to hold on to, in need of security, we need to let go, and be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10 {"Be still, and know that I am God."
I found that in distress, stress, feelings of anxiousness, it's nothing but a deterrent to be where we need to be focused. focusing on The Lord God. When were somewhere in like a current, it's not easy to be still, and listen in the mess, and chaos.
