being apostels and prophets is not WHO they were, but WHAT they did. It was a POSITION of authority in Christ FOR THE EQUIPPING of the church. The Chursh is in CONSTANT NEED OF EQUIPPING!!!

i now agree.

i used to be a cessationist who believed that the authoritative offices and gifts of those who laid the foundation of the church in the first century (Christ being the Cornerstone) were the once for all foundation, and that those supernatural gifts required for receiving the revealed word of the New Testament ceased with canon, and that OUR SCRIPTURE IS AUTHORITATIVE and God-breathed, fully sufficient for everything needed both to continue bulding the church and saving lost souls.

however.

i now have decided that not only doesn't the bible say that (or at least who really cares because i WANT to believe otherwise so i'm going to), experience tells me that even though these manifestations and offices have not been seen nor looked for 1800 years, i HAD AN EXPERIENCE last night....

i now choose what i WANT to be true (i have supernatural powers and the same authority paul had), and i am choosing what i want and desire over what i used to think was written clearly.

besides: so many people TOLD ME over and over that they were prophets and had supernatural powers, etc: that's good enough for me.

It is THAT simple. Those called of God today to fill the offices of apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and pastor are DOING THE WORK; fulfilling the OFFICE.

right.
and now i know MY calling.

i am an apostle, prophet, teacher, evangelist and healer.
i'm waiting for even more gifts so we'll see....so far so good.

as soon as i decided it didn't really matter WHAT scripture or the historical church or those yucky theologians said i got a whole pile of gifts.

so now i also no longer believe scripture is the ultimate authority. my experiences TRUMP the bible since I KNOW what i experienced is TRUE.

and anyone who questions me is clearly not saved.

apparently i got the Second Baptism (by Fire...which i used to think meant judgment) last night.

i now also speak in tongues AND i interpet.

The FOUNDATION of a building cannot be removed of the building falls. Even though the titles of apostle and prophet were, for a very long time, not used, the offices still remained...in obscurity, but STILL in effect.

i used to wonder where it said it go this way but then since i need to justify al my new gifts, i decided to take Joel's prophecy concerning Pentecost and remove it from its historical context and apply it to today.

a verse out of context is ok, right?

STUPID THEOLOGIANS AND SCHOLARS had me totally wrong-headed.

this is now part of my NEW RELIGION.

i'll be posting a thread on it, since its being revealed to me even as we speak.

and since i have an authority equal to scripture, what i say goes.

God is NOT a respector of persons; He does not withhold that type of guidance and structural/constructional overseeing from any century's portion of the Body.
No cessationist can give even ONE reference showing that ANY of the FIVE offices were eliminated or separated.

so i am an apostle and a prophet among other things now.

i have REAL authority.

If anyone on this board believes otherwise then step up and show some scripture or admit that you are wrong!

one cool thing is i can now divine secret things from the OT prophecies and apply them to today without ever really saying what they mean: that makes everybody (jealous?) hungry so they seek and seek and seek. not quite sure what gift this is yet...maybe exhortation?

i got the gift of tongues last night WITH interpretation. (i used to believe that the bible said the tongues they spoke at Pentecost were the languages of the nations but i now believe what they spoke was unintelligible. not sure how anyone understood since there's no mention of any interpreters there, but who cares).

i got the whole shootin' match last night.

every PARTIAL KNOWLEDGE gift the first century disciples and apostles had i got also.

so i don't need the bible anymore because god is doing SOMETHING NEW, and i can put together ALL the parital gifts and come up pretty close to what is in canon so that's all that matters.

revealing NEW THINGS....oops...........getting a message NOW so i'll get back to you on it.

I went to Bible College! Yes I do prophesy. I think you would be amazed how many prophets there are! Alot of people do prophecy in the Pentecostal Church. I'll give prophecy for you!

A few months ago I met some people who practiced another "denomination" that I had no clue existed. They are not associated with Jehovah Witnesses besides having the same founder kind of. They read the Bible mainly but always like to reference the study books written by Charles Taze Russell. They also believe that Jesus returned in the 1800's invisibly.

Dear johnnyyy, I studied the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses in some of their literature, and some of the teachings of Charles Taze Russell in his books received from the Layman's Home Missionary Movement in West Chester PA. I have talked to Jehovah's Witnesses who stopped by our old house about 2 or 3 times. I was not impressed with their hatred for the Holy Trinity and for the deity of Jesus Christ.
Some people are freed by God from Jehovah's Witnesses and even come into the Church.
