Zone was just being subtle about another misconception people have.

That there are 10 commandments on the tablet, when there is really no specific number of commandments there, and different schemes of numbering what is said exists.

That there where specifically 3 kings that came from the east to see Christ's birth. There where three gifts, but how many kings there where we do not know.

Greetings Tintin.......On boredom in heaven, I will say something here that if all think about it, they should agree. When the Holy Spirit entered into me the joy was immeasurable as was Yahweh, God's Presence. My thinking is that event was just a very small sampling of the joy in the Kingdom. No one knows, surely starting with me, the greatness that will be, come the Kingdom. Our Father has such wonder awaiting us. We certainly will be praising Him for eternity, but what a joy!
Lucifer was the worship leader in Heaven.
The forbidden fruit was an apple.
God sends us to Heaven on our own righteousness for doing good deeds.
God helps those who help themselves.
Heaven will be boring: endless singing and harp playing.

I blame The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost for some misconceptions about Lucifer and the nature of Heaven and Hell. It's and disturbing how many of our beliefs about the afterlife in particular, have been borrowed from non-Biblical culture rather than sourced from God's Word.
Can you think of any other misconceptions? How might we go about lovingly correcting people on these points?
Please discuss them here.

You have given me a lot of work, because every single answer in your table gives false witness to the truth. If this is what you have learned catholics are I too would not be catholic. The moment I decided to listen to what the catholic teachings really are I saw how much false witness has been given to her. I am working in correcting your table, the problem is the one line answers. And do not tell me that you believe sola Scripture because the bible never said that. Babygurl we can discuss them one at a time if you like. Make a new forum and lets take them one by one. I say for you to make it so I can answer your first question. Lets not spam this nice thread.

Oh this thread has been begging for derailment ever since it was titled :D

I think he's only looking for a certain kind of misconception though, the people assume this is in the bible but actually isn't kind of thing.

"Funny you should say that, when YOU just 'spammed' this thread."

Why do you believe that this chart is targeting Catholicism? Is it not abundantly clear that it is describing the general cultural perspective of "Christianity" in society - how the "masses" view it - people in general - with a specific regard to "luke-warm Christians" and "non-Christians"...???

Do the descriptions in the 'Cultural Christianity' column have an uncanny resemblance to the ideals of Catholic faith?

Do you assume that anything regarding the 'culture' of a society is or should be automatically connected with Catholicism - as though Catholicism defines all culture and society?

Just wondering how you made the quick-assumption that this chart is all about Catholicism...

 I just realized...

"Perhaps your issue DOES belong in this thread. There are a lot of Common Misconceptions about Catholicism. Virtually everything that is Catholic (doctrine) is not found in the Bible..."

Gra the reason I believe this to be against catholics is because that is pretty much what many people say here that catholics believe. Many claim they know what I believe and they are way off. And most of those false believes they claim I have are in that chart.

???

You were guessing that this is against Catholics because you guessed that is what people think about Catholics???

Maybe you should start a thread about the misconceptions of what you are guessing people think you believe...!!!

Indeed maybe I should. At the moment I am discussing OSAS and faith alone, but no matter how many times I say catholics believe in saved by grace always have and always will be. I get replies saying that because I am catholic I believe my own works save me. That I do not believe the bible that I believe men. That I put limits on God, that I do not read the bible. That we pay indulgences. And many many more. It is tiering sometimes trying to just have a nice theology discussion when people focus so hard on this lies.

So yes I taught you were giving catholics a cheap shot, because that is to my surprise what I have come to learn in this christian chat that believes catholics are heretics [even the administration has stated this]

If you believe in correct doctrine... you aren't a very good catholic... why are you clinging there. To say Catholic doctrine doesn't have a saved by works theology is false... I've read the catechism and the law code regarding sacrements, indulgences, prayer to saints... none of it is biblically sound. I won't be starting a thread for your benefit....start your own.

I won't give you cheap shots. I will tell you straight out what I think all the Roman Catholic errors are.

Make your thread and maybe people will come to see RC in a different light... I will definitely be chiming in to your thread if you make it...

JGPS, is correct.

Also, I don't have an anti-Catholic agenda. I feel some things they believe are non-biblical but I also believe the same of Protestant churches. I think this 'agenda' talk calls for a face palm. *Face palm*. There.
