Eze 38:14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?
Eze 38:15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

What is directly North of Israel?
The north points to the spiritual realm.... it's where Lucifer sits. That's the problem, there is always a physical and a spiritual. Most people can't see the spiritual so they come up with their own interpretations.

Isa_14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Oh, so Gog and Magog are now Satan?

How does this work?

Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

So Satan deceives himself, gathers himself together for battle...

Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

The fire of God devours them (meaning him)...

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And then he is cast into the Lake of Fire?

Just as I said, literal when it suits and figurative when it suits.

I would ask you to closely review this scripture

Isaiah 14:1-23
When the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel, and settle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. [SUP]2 [/SUP]The peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them as an inheritance in the land of the Lord as male servants and female servants; and they will take their captors captive and will rule over their oppressors.[SUP]3 [/SUP]And it will be in the day when the Lord gives you rest from your pain and turmoil and harsh service in which you have been enslaved, [SUP]4 [/SUP]that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon, and say,
“How the oppressor has ceased,
And how fury has ceased!
[SUP]5 [/SUP]“The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked,
The scepter of rulers
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Which used to strike the peoples in fury with unceasing strokes,
Which subdued the nations in anger with unrestrained persecution.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]“The whole earth is at rest and is quiet;
They break forth into shouts of joy.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]“Even the cypress trees rejoice over you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying,
Since you were laid low, no tree cutter comes up against us.’ (Matt 3:10)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]“Sheol from beneath is excited over you to meet you when you come;
It arouses for you the spirits of the dead, all the leaders of the earth; (Matt 27:52-53)
It raises all the kings of the nations from their thrones.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]“They will all respond and say to you,
‘Even you have been made weak as we,
You have become like us.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]‘Your pomp and the music of your harps
Have been brought down to Sheol;
Maggots are spread out as your bed beneath you
And worms are your covering.’
(Job 25:6)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]“How you have fallen from heaven,
O star of the morning, son of the dawn! (Rev 22:16)
You have been cut down to the earth,
You who have weakened the nations!
[SUP]13 [/SUP]“But you said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God,
And I will sit on the mount of assembly
In the recesses of the north.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; (Matt 24:30)
I will make myself like the Most High.’
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol,
To the recesses of the pit.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]“Those who see you will gaze at you,
They will ponder over you, saying,
‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
Who shook kingdoms,
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Who made the world like a wilderness
And overthrew its cities,
Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’
[SUP]18 [/SUP]“All the kings of the nations lie in glory,
Each in his own tomb.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]“But you have been cast out of your tomb
Like a rejected branch, (Is 11:1)
Clothed with the slain who are pierced with a sword,
Who go down to the stones of the pit
Like a trampled corpse.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]“You will not be united with them in burial,
Because you have ruined your country,
You have slain your people.
May the offspring of evildoers not be mentioned forever.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]“Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter
Because of the iniquity of their fathers.
They must not arise and take possession of the earth
And fill the face of the world with cities.”

[SUP]22 [/SUP]“I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and survivors, offspring and posterity,” declares the Lord. [SUP]23 [/SUP]“I will also make it a possession for the hedgehog and swamps of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord of hosts.

I don't think its talking about the "king of Babylon" or Satan. I know that the KJV translates "star of the morning" as Lucifer, but I don't believe that they should have. I don't want to get into a KJV debate, but I would like you to read it as "star of the morning" instead of Lucifer (as Lucifer means "star of the morning"). I have not seen any other version translate star of the morning as Lucifer besides the KJV.

If you will read at the top - This is a taunt! They are taunting this "man". They are saying things that this "man" said as well as things that they are saying.

Read it through as though it were a taunt (because it is). And see if you can figure out who they are taunting.

I am not saying that this wasn't originally written to "the king of Babylon", but there are many things, as we all know, that are written in the OT that were discussing current events, but were also foretelling future events - David is a shining example of this (but there are many others).

Here is another one
Ezekial28-The word of the Lord came to me: [SUP]12 [/SUP]“Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
topaz, onyx and jasper,
lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.[SUP][b][/SUP]
Your settings and mountings[SUP][c][/SUP] were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Your heart became proud
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]By your many sins and dishonest trade
you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you,
and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes on the ground
in the sight of all who were watching.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]All the nations who knew you
are appalled at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.’”

If timeline does think this is Jesus, then he is doing exactly as we should do... look for Jesus in all parts of the bible. I disagree that this passage is talking about Jesus and I don't think timeline would have came to that conclusion if he read the KJV. This is exactly why I threw my NIV in the trash can. These New Age bibles constantly blur the line between Christ and Antichrist.

Yes, and addressed to the king of Babylon...

Isa 14:4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

and it is a literal passage about Satan, using the king of Babylon as a type. I probably could have stated the first post much better. Sorry, my mistake.

Are you saying this is Jesus?
I am saying that this is prophesying the taunt against Jesus by the Jews. We all know that they (Rome and Judah) mocked Him at the trial and crucifixion.

In the NASB (I don't care for the NIV, as you should very well know due to previous discussions:)), it does not say Lucifer. And it really doesn't matter because, if I understand correctly, Lucifer is only used once in the KJV, and it is in this verse.

This is literally translated as "star of the morning". Jesus, Himself, says that He is the bright morning star. I would also point out that Satan is not the son of the dawn or the morning star. These things represent Light - satan would be represented as darkness (yes, I know the verse that says satan represents himself as an angel of light). But, if you will refer to the verses that I bolded and placed verses next to, I believe you will see why I believe this to match a taunt against Jesus, instead of a taunt against satan. I would also like to note why Jesus told us that he used parables - So that they would hear, but not understand.

Revelation 22:16
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

I have been trying to CC with a little more moderation - Instead of living on here:). So sorry for the delays. I'm trying to jump on here for a few minutes (hour) at a time. I would appreciate if y'all would read around this scripture before assuming that I'm a "heretic". And then calmly tell me how wrong I am - Thanks.

I don't think you are a heretic, as I said earlier, you are doing it right. Jesus is all over the Old Testament, but I don't think this particular one is about Jesus and here's why.

Point 1

Isa 14:4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
The proverb is against the king of Babylon. Why would Jesus be called the king of Babylon?
The king of Babylon is called an oppressor, how is Jesus an oppressor?

Well, I could take several different approaches to this.

1) Jesus is King of kings
2) There are multiple references to Jesus in the text that is under discussion. And if the person quoted were satan, for example, then it would be a boast and a lie; but if it were Jesus that had said the quoted parts of the taunt, then the statements would be true.
3) Have you read the prophecy from Daniel 2? Rhetorical, of course - I know that you have. And I don't really understand the surrounding symbolism, but Daniel's description of Nebuchadnezzar is very interesting:
[SUP]36 [/SUP]“This was the dream; now we will tell its interpretation before the king. [SUP]37 [/SUP]You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength and the glory; [SUP]38 [/SUP]and wherever the sons of men dwell, or the beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given them into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold.

Interestingly, there seems to be a possibility that Jesus is represented by the Head of Gold as well as stone cut without hands.

4) Abraham came from Chaldea - not sure how significant that is, but it seems to add to the symbolism. Kind of a completion of a cycle, so to speak.

Jesus is THE King of Kings not a king of kings.
Dan 2:37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

I like your style and how you look at language especially titles and statements. This is the way it's done. But, and I know you disagree, if you're going to do that it can only be done in the KJV. I don't wont to make this a KJV only issue but I want to point out the differences between the KJV and the bible your using.

Your bible calls this passage a "taunt", the KJV calls it a proverb.... there is a huge difference between the two.
Your bible calls Nebuchadnezzar "the king of kings", the KJV calls him a king of kings... huge differences. (Side note my personal belief is the statue represents Israel)

I'll give you a chance to respond to this then I will move on to point two.:)

:) Well maybe we can find a way to move forward anyway. I have come to enjoy our discussions - outside of the KJ debate. I personally believe that the NASB is a more accurate translation than the KJ is. But I have found places where it seems that they have used a synonym for a word, that would have caused a more direct connection to another verse had they used the same word that was in the other verse. I know that was a bit wordy, but I think you know what I mean. But I do appreciate the NASB's approach in regard to italicizing words that are implied, writing Lord, LORD, etc. to show which word was translated as Lord, and writing all caps to indicate a quote from the OT (however, the problem with that approach is that people assume that if it is not all capitals, then it is not a quote from the OT.

I am rambling.

Maybe you can make your points in KJ and if there is an item of disagreement, I will check out the KJ,the Interlinear, confer with someone at my church that can read Greek (I don't know if any of them can read Hebrew. And I am pretty sure that none of them can read Aramaic).

I will look into taunt/proverb and a/the, but I will tell you now that Isaiah 14 sounds like a taunt to me:)
