Number 40. Are folks really not wanting to see that this number can be tied to a "trial" or "a time of testing"?

Noah and Jesus both went thru a trial for 40 days. Why are folks ignoring Scripture on this point or fact?

If it's not to draw closer to the Almighty... Why do it?
I was saying I DON'T recite numbers to draw closer to Him. I study His Word to show myself approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). His Word has numbers within it that is connected to a specific meaning as defined by the context.

In this flesh life of ours I know instances of Christians experiencing life problems they themselves report as related to such numbers as "40", (God help them more), sevens, 11's, etc. Ever heard of a Seven Year Itch"? In my lost years I had such a problem, pouring gasoline on my arm hoping God would ignite it. That caustic chemical felt "good", burning my skin. I lacked the nerve to finish the task. Well, it actually turned out to be an allergic reaction to okra, grown in abundance in my vege garden. It took extreme measures to cause me to give that delicacy up. It was the single most direct cause of a total of 40 known kidney stones over am 11 year period. Looking back I recognize the signs of numbers keeping me under that problem. I didn't consider suggestions by brethren and dieticians, suffering much. It was the height of ignorance! I loved those fried okra pods more than the wisdom of God revealed to people. Does the word of God warn me of that? No. Okra is considered a very nutritious food. It really is. What could be wrong with it? We fried them throughout the growing season, grease and all for decades. 40 recorded kidney stones was my number of judgment concerning that part of our diet. I committed to keep that number at that level, and have been free of stones since them. How? I gave them up. The numbers count!

Now concerning numbers drawing closer to the Almighty, they certainly do. Numbers don't betray numbers if trhey are sharing the same basis., especially of Base 10. It is insanity to reject that system since nature AND God's word agree in the numbers of Base 10. Maybe some aliens from another star system would like another system, but we have that one that works. When honest scientists see numbers align with biblical truth, they are usually silenced. Science was my career, allowing me to converse with professional experts in many fields of science. Most have a humility about them that stops them from insulting God. But, they too suffer from general ignorance of God and His word, like most church members. The smart ones guard their words, lest they be found fools in their own lips.

Do Bible Numbers Have Meaning or Is It Just Useless Filler Information That We Should Ignore within the Bible?

Side Note:
Didn't want to create this thread initially, but I feel now that it needs to be spoken about (So people are aware what of what the purpose of numbers is in our Bibles).
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,17 that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly equipped for all good works.

Yes, the numbers have significance.

For example, while it is written that the number 666 is the number of a man. The number 6 is the number of man.

It was the 6th day that man was created.

In the first miracle Jesus performed, there were 6 clay pots that Jesus said to fill with water (each weighed the average weight of a man). He then turn the water into wine. Water and wine are symbols of baptism. Water the baptism of Jesus' name and wine the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

12 is the number of government. There were 12 tribes, 12 disciples, etc...

There is an order to all things.

if people want to reject this simple verse, that means very much, up to them. I'll stick with Jesus and His truth, not adding or taking away from anything He said or done, that's just me.

I went over three years, in prisons through life, and went 14 mores years lost, ...where's the meaning? What are you even talking about ? Yes, Jesus was tempted in the wilderness where He spent 40 days... Ok, what does that mean to you? Do you think God cares if you know order? Or does He care that you help others get to Him, through His word? Our jobs as "leaders" if that's what you consider yourself, your job is to be a servant, a helper, a agent of God, to let Him use you, for His way, nothing else, He does not care if you can count, I ASSURE YOU, did the thief on the cross next to Jesus that He accepted in to heaven, a mathematician as well as a thief, no, He believed in Jesus and repented with all his heart, and bared his humility on the cross right next to Jesus.
I can't believe so many people would think God would need them to study numbers, does He need you to think about something He can't handle Himself? He needs none of us, He loves us, out of love He gave us life, out of love He gave me His Spirit, nothing I added nothing I done, other then right Him on my heart, and believe in Him, and His words.

Do Biblical numbers have meanining? I tend to think so. The hebrew alphabet has numerical values assigned to each letter. The LORD loves math-I beleive there are hidden treasures in the Bible. The Proverbs say it is the glory of the Lord to conceal things and the honor of kings to search it out.....................

If the glory is so good in these numbers, I would love to know what they did for each of you, have you saved any ones life with it, have you walk the streets and gave to the poor because of it, has the world changed any with your number counting.

Even wordswordsmen own parents as he said weren't good listeners and hard headed, and even he agrees it's by far better to take Gods word literally, why are y'all so hard headed? Why can't you take God for His word, you don't trust His word? Have to add them up to be convinced ... Seems insulting to God if you asked me.

Scripture, words, as I said before look where math got John Dee, take that road on your own doing, I won't be no where near it.

The fact that I understand there are many levels of understanding means I do not denigrate that which I do not understand but keep my mind open so the Holy Spirit can teach me.

I don't care about the order... I care about you.
The order comes from God. His word sets forth that order. God is love. True love. So if we try to over rule God's order or Word we are trying to establish our own righteousness and not the righteousness of God. We are trying to establish a love that is not based on God's Word. For the foundation of our faith is the Bible.

The Word of God is the foundation and hope of our faith. A Roman Catholic or even an atheist can give to the poor. Doesn't mean they gave their heart to Jesus and worship Him alone. It doesn't mean they are saved. Numbers are a part of the Scriptures. You ignore the context of Scripture that ascribes meaning to them (Which would be no different than reducing the numbers in the Bible to background noise).

If God using numbers symbolically upsets you so, there are plenty of other things in scripture to learn about, as your posts have said. Just ignore the numbers, I am sure that God doesn't want to upset you if it does. Study the part of the word that doesn't upset you.

Other people learn through this symbolism, so you turn it off and we will learn. OK?? there are plenty things to study to go around.

Jason, was the scripture wrote in numbers or in words, and I don't want to hear the words mean numbers, this is a lie from the devil, show me the scripture where Jesus tells you to count numbers, you won't because it's not truth, Gods word is truth, not some numbers your adding and subtracting and I hope you are not foolish enough to go for this to long, but looks like your head in to it, when I was saved as young and preached my first sermon, did it with no number as I said enough in this thread, never needed a number to experience miracles, or Gods love, I'm telling you, this is wrong, if it's so great why haven't preachers been preaching this for years, because it's not right, and most would Know better, we should not play or "arrange" Gods word, nor take away from or add to, and now your not only adding to His word, it's with numbers, do you know how complex numbers can get, our whole economy is based on a phony "number" system, that will break by the way.. I do not and will never rely on a number I find my strength in Jesus Christ, I will never get to a miracle number, that can show me the peace I already have, I have more in Jesus and His words that will last me a 10 lifetimes before I could ever resort to a number, it's pretty insulting as I said that we would have to go to numbers to prove God, sad really, and people want to promote this, never in my life, as a watchmen would say " not on my watch " so those whoever dig for info and come across this thread, will know there is a difference, a distinct difference between " believing " and having to count for " proof " there's a God. I will not judge you for what your doing that's Gods job, and I will do nothing but hope you well, and that you pray for insight of how dangerous this is for you. I can't make you see it from the Spirit, and not count it with the mind, I'm just going to stick with Jesus and His literal words. Nothing else, nothing, I will not change words to numbers. I'm just letting you guys know this is a false teaching, and I've said my peace.
