I do not put Him in a box. I simply seek to understand Him based on what He has already revealed. And your way leaves you open to a sea of deception.
lol you think God speaks to us in only way? here is how he speaks to me. through music, through scripture, through movies, through nature, through his voice, in my heart, through my own voice. i mean he speaks to us all the time and instead og listening to him we are arguing about who lived in deception and such because of the way he speaks to us.

Your way via the scriptures is the one that stopping Christ from speaking to you today.
I don't think this stops Christ from speaking to you or trying to, I think it keeps people from listening and this is where the problem is. Instead left only to interpret the Word in their own way or the way of someone else who teaches them instead of listening to Christ to let him guide and give an understanding. There are those who walk after the flesh and those after the Spirit and those who walk after the flesh can sometimes deter people from walking after the Spirit due to their own beliefs.

Anyhow, I too walk after the Spirit, so it is Great to see more who do too, and if you walk only after the word of the book and who in flesh teaches you I would encourage you to listen and seek to see and find the Spirit because he IS here and comes to a heart of good intention and love who willingly opens to him :)

For the one in red above to come into reality in our lives today, simply turn to and come to the Lord Jesus who is beside us all at all time, talk to Him and ask Him to come in to our lives and let Him be our Teacher today, wait for Him to respond to our call and when He does, simply acknowledge His own way and means of coming in to our lives and His own way of teaching us about spiritual matters as well as bible matters.

Read my original post in this discussion.
I think it possible people have misunderstood our brother Conotocarious.

I have read all his post, it is clear he is a great Christian man. He has never once denied the Holy Spirit or that God shows His love in many forms. He completely believes in not limiting God, so of course God can speak to us anyway He chooses.

I simply read him saying that God left His word to us in the form of The Bible. So He no longer has to use burning bushes we have the scripture.

Conotocarious please let me know if I hear you wrong. I mean no disrespect I just see people giving you a hard time about a very sound fundamental peice of Christian truth.

God bless, and even if I'm wrong know I spoke this in love
love you all,

People in the biblical Christian world are not in agreement with various teachings and doctrines that their respective men pastors formulated out of the passages of the bible, would this scenario have not happened should we people learn to come directly to God instead of coming to various religious denominations which are now widespread all around the four corners of the globe?

Does God still speak/talk to the people in our time today as God did in the days of the old? If Paul knew Jesus then by and through Jesus Christ, could we also come to the way of knowing the Lord Jesus today by and through himself instead of knowing Him via the bible?
God goes unchanging. Of course he would still be speaking to people.

All who listen to God and have given their lives to him he will speak to them
Some consciences are seared with a hot iron and cannot hear the spirit anymore.

I simply read him saying that God left His word to us in the form of The Bible.
God gave us the bible so that the bible may testify to us today that there is really God to whom we all can come to and to whom we will be able to come to the right knowledge of knowing God and our salvation and eternal life, but the bible was not given to us for the said purpose that only God can impart to us..

So He no longer has to use burning bushes we have the scripture.
Please do not make the scriptures God in the first place and a barricace against Him (God) in coming to you and refrain from overtaking God in His decision, we all do not know what God has in store for and to all of us today, do we?

Let us all come to the Lord God with an empty/clean mind but with only one belief - there is really God with whom we all can come to and learn the truth about all the things we are searching for in our lives.

[h=3]Joel 2:28-32[/h]King James Version (KJV)

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

You took what I said way out of context! I was stating what I thought another member was saying...
please go back and read my posts on this thread.

God can do anything. I know nothing of what He has in store today

God bless, I understand what you are saying and your intentions.

Also do not be offended but in the future if quoting me please do not take pieces of it. Instead use the whole piece I said because what you left out was my thoughts... Like that God can talk anyway He pleases to us. He can do anything He is God.

Much appreciated,
lexi

By that, God cannot be limited and bounded by the scritptures or the bible.

We are only human beings bound to commit mistakes, take note of Simon or Peter who was with the Lord yet at one time he was called by the Lord Satan. Just bear in mind that when we do sin, Jesus is just right beside us and a simple call on in Him and a repentance to what we did will make the Lord Jesus much more than willing to come to us and comfort us with His teachings and himself and give us the necessary pardon to all our sins that we confess to Him daily.
