It's time to do "checks and balances" on ourselves.

Definitely love for God is what motivates me. Yes, the thought of eternal life with Him is something I cannot even begin to imagine but, I did not come to Him to avoid hell. I want to live my life as His servant, doing His will, living life the way He wants me too. I have never felt more peace and love since I dedicated my life to Him. I am so much happier because I know the Lord loves me and will never forsake me.

Love of God has always motivated me. I got saved when I realized how much God loved me and forgave me my sins. I cannot imagine being motivated by fear. I was a teacher and a mother of 4 children. I have never motivated by fear. For one thing, I found out it rarely worked.

I also think in the case of God, he wants us to love him, not fear a place prepared for the devil and his angels.

"God is love." 1 John 4:8.16

  • "Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside..." (Psalm 140:4-5).
  • "...In the way wherein I walked have they privily [secretly] laid a snare for me" (142:3).
  • "The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts" (119:110).
The Bible makes it clear: Demonic powers are at work laying traps for Christians!
Yet Satan doesn't limit his fowler's work to evil principalities. He also uses wicked people to lay demonic traps: "The wicked have laid a snare for me..." (Psalm 119:110).

It really isn't either love or fear, but truth that motivates me. That takes in something wide and deep, and the more I absorb it the more it becomes part of me. It becomes a driving force. It is in scripture. History helps.

I purposely sought writers who had encountered evil face to face like M Scott Peck and Malachi Martin to learn all I can about it, in order to recognize it and stay away from it. So I renew my mind daily, Christ cleanses me daily, and I can live as close to love as possible.

Love for sure. if we are doing it out of fear we can never get to know him. is it real faith if its one of fear and no love?

Fear of hell only motivated me to be heartbroken and hopeless.

Love of God has given me peace in tribulation that few recognize as such.

Hell in the Greek /Christian sense of the word I don't believe exists. Therefore I don't fear hell since I don't believe it exists. However according to God's commandments we all are to fear Yehovah and love Him. Therefore I fear God and I love God.

Fear of Hell to a certain extent but Love for God more in the past few years. There's still a fear of Hell at times but it's more about running the race than looking for condemnation.

So, Jesus warned of Hell fervently and regularly, even though such a place doesn't exist? Makes sense. NOT!

As an unbeliever, I never onced feared hell or was ever concerned about hell, not in the least. Now that I am a believer, I am thankful God has sparred me from it. Jesus spoke more of Hell than He did of Heaven and always with a warning. I am not motivated by either. I am motivated because of my love for God and what he has done for me.

fear may have played a role at first, but then the more i get to no Him, the more i want to stay with Him. So it started out as fear, and now i'm in love.

it is both for me, but loving God has a edge in my life. as I heard a pastor say one time, Jesus talked so much about hell because he does not want anyone to go there.

It is the fierceness of Gods wrath that illustrates the depth of His love. Make no mistake that the wrath of God abides on sin and that for all of eternity.

For the cause of Christ
