honestly matt your most reasonable one out of the bunch, so i guess i can ask you a few question, do you feel that keeping the sabbath is a MUST for all believers or do you believe we have a choice weather to keep it or not, but before you anwser that question take a look at this scripture Colossians 2:16 ESV

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.
Must? No. Beneficial? Yes.
Keeping the Sabbath is just one of many signs and opportunities that point our lives back to God and strengthens our relationship with Him. Can that happen without keeping the Sabbath? Sure. But if God lays it on your heart to do it, we need to be obedient to it. Just as we should with any instruction He gives to us.

BTW, that verse in Colossians can also apply to my side of the Sabbath argument. In other words, don't pass judgement on me for keeping the Sabbath;).

I agree but how about watering down the Word as well.

Philippians 3
Righteousness Through Faith in Christ
1Finally, my brothers,a rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you.

2Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. 3For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of Godb and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— 4though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law,c blameless. 7But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Straining Toward the Goal
12Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

17Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

how many times does the NT tell us no one will be considered righteous before God by works of the Law?

Paul himself who kept the Law better than anyone said he wanted to be found and be found in CHRIST, not having a righteousness of my his own that comes from the law,

but to be found having a righteosuness which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith

i'm not, i never did it's just your fellow sabbath keepers making all of these threads, why worship on sunday etc... and making threads saying it's a MUST do thing after seeing what is written in the scripture about days, i believe it's a good thing though we all need a day to mediate and rest in the lord i'm consider doing it soon also to build my faith in christ Jesus, but once you know it's not a must do thing that's all i wanted to hear

Amen... my goodness how can people read the word of God like that and still say we need to keep the sabbath to be saved.. ISN'T THAT SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS? TRYING TO PLEASE THE FLESH? God help us all and open the eyes of those who are willfully blinding themselves

ya mean there's no FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK IN GOD'S PLAN?

mkay.

Pentecost happened on the first day of the week! The Church was born on the first day of the week! That doesn't make Sunday the Sabbath, it just tells you that after the resurrection of Jesus, the Sabbath is not emphasized.

When a day is mentioned in connection with the appearances of the risen Lord Jesus, it is always the first day of the week. Look at the extremely important events that occurred in the life of the first followers of Christ on the first day of the week.

1). Jesus startled them by appearing to them on the first day (John 20:19).

2). Jesus received worship from Thomas (John 20:27-28).

3). Sunday evening Jesus took bread and blessed it and broke it and gave it to His disciples evidently like He had in instituting the communion meal (Luke 22:19) and their "eyes were opened and they recognized Him" (Luke 24:31).

4). Sunday evening Jesus blessed His disciples twice saying "Peace be with you" (John 20:20; 26).

5). That same Sunday evening Jesus "...breathed on them and said, 'receive the Holy Spirit'" John 20:22.

6). On Sunday evening Jesus gave His disciples the ecclesiastical authority to proclaim forgiveness to those who believe in Him through the Gospel (John 20:23).

The Sabbath & Sunday
Actually Zone, where all that you have said here is true, if it effected the keeping of the seventh day Sabbath, why didn't it change until after the Apostles were all dead? That was the reason I started keeping the Seventh day instead of the first day, not at all because I thought it would make me more righteous, that has not changed. Hashem Tzidkeinu! I later learned about the error of Balaam(Num.22.12 wt 20 &22-31, 2 Pet.2.15.16, Jude.11-12/Deut.32.5), that bothered me, so I figure if keeping the laws don't make me righteous, neither will NOT keeping them. I do not judge what others do, that is between them and God. We each need to follow what God calls us to, not what others think. I know his promises are sure, and they are not just for some who walk a straighter line, they are for "all who call on the name of the Lord"(Rom.10.13, 8.21.23).

I am not under law, for I have Christ. You have to choose, to be with Christ or against Him.

The first thing out of the head of someone who feels guilty about observing the Seventh Day on the First day is, "Does your Salvation depend on keeping the Sabbath."

First of all the expression "keeping the Sabbath" is like saying someone is not in the Messiah. Second, and the most absurd is, those accusing others of attempting to do works by obeying the Father's wishes are observing anther day as the Seventh Day. Now is this not they doing works by their own yard stick?

Of course the day was changed to Sunday by Satan, because there is no commandment changing the Seventh Day to the First Day. These judges know they are wrong with nothing to support what they say except the vote of others equally yoked with them in darkness on the matter.

Why don't you just tell us what you think.
and you never answering.
i notice you haven't had the courage of your conviction on KohenMatt's poll.
i don't see your name there.

what i think?, what i think is that you think you're gaining righteousness under the Law.
and you know better than Paul. who kept the Law more completely than you ever will.

he counted it all as dung.

Galatians 3:11
Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith."

see that? not justified before God.
Paul said Clearly...and he said no one.

except you.

feels guilty?

better take another look at who will be found guilty:

Galatians 3
Christ Redeemed Us
10For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM." 11Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." 12However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM."

He would think it's ok because Jesus said Sabbath is made for man so he can do whatever he wants with it. Like going to a movie watching his favorite star, a ball game seeing his hero in action, a mall getting the latest hot item. Man is given so much liberity that he can ignore it altogether.

by SATAN!

here we go again...attributing the work of CHRIST to SATAN.

Colossians 2
Alive in Christ
16Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- 17things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

.....

Which are a shadow of things to come - See the notes at Hebrews 8:5; Hebrews 10:1, note. They were only a dim outline of future things, not the reality.

But the body is of Christ - The reality, the substance. All that they signified is of or in Christ. Between those things themselves which are in Christ, and those which only represented or prefigured them, there is as much difference as there is between a body and a shadow; a solid substance and a mere outline.

Having now, therefore, the thing itself the shadow can be to us of no value; and that having come which was prefigured, that which was designed merely to represent it, is no longer binding. - Barnes

...

anyways, God bless you in your joy in the dim shadows, the mere outlines...rituals of yeast and new moons and sabbath days.

not sure why you're not going all the way and offering bulls and goats. they were awesome shadows.

The scripture I read doesn't agree with you. It says the road is narrow that we are to walk, the wide road leads to destruction. It talks of a peace and joy that comes with order and a life that is goodness filled.

I am. Both of my boys were. One on the 8th day, 1 would have been except for some medical concerns. It's the same interpretation and application as Sabbath-keeping.

May be I have misunderstood the phrase "sabbath is made for man". I need non-keepers who use this phrase as the reason to help me out here.

I think more importantly People should understand what keeping the sabbath means.

This topic is so complex. I would venture to say even the sabbath keepers do not keep the sabbath to the "T" in all that was commanded. So in this context. I doubt there is a person here who keeps the sabbath. Thus according to the letter. we would all be sinners in this area. even if we deny we are
