If I may point out it is not so much the weapon used, but the intent and motive behind the act.
When a murder is commited the courts do not punish the gun but the perpetrator.
As well a gun equalizes the playing field for the attacker and the victim.
A 220 pound mugger against a 105 pound 75 year old lady.
A gun in the hand of the lady now has a more equalized advantage against a would be attacker.
Another point, lets say 2 people have guns and face off, a thief without training and a law abiding citizen with training.
Now that the playing field is again equalized the one not with the gun will have the advantage in this scenario but the one with training.
Similarly in some parts once a person gets to a certain point in a form of martial arts training it is requested they register not any weapon.
But themselves........as a deadly weapon.
So do we now ban training?
If we take it from the beginning, the first murder
8Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”d And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
I dont see any mention of a weapon here
Therefore it is not weapons that should be banned, nor people which are the effectual perpetrators of murder.
It is ignorance or being mistaught which should be put away
And enlightenment and knowledge replaced in its stead.
Knowing the Lord, the bible, loving your neighbor as yourself, practicing compassion and mercy.
This is what prevents murder.
Ive seen it, Ive done, Ive come between two dogs at one another throats gnashing their teeth and pulled them apart, and calmed them, soothed their instincts.
Ive done the same with people, focusing on the same driven instincts.
Coming in between two attackers and enlightening them to what their own actions and the consequences thereof while in the miodst of a heated fight.
Only to see them lower their heads and concur, that what I was suggesting was truth.
Much the same with how pregnancy is prevented with teenagers by way of teaching them properly which instills self discipline.
The practice of self discipline by way of education in order to master the will of the flesh prevents iniquity.
As God said:
7If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
This is called being meek, knowing ones power and what they are capable of and using it properly, justly, nobly and honorably and for the Lords will.
Power under control, just as Christ demonstrated.
Like this scripture for instance
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
If there is never any justifiable reason for war or self defense for a just cause, why would Christ himself have even laid out this threat, which is exactly what it is.
Its like saying to a would be attacker
"Do you not know I could pull this .38 out from behind my back pocket, now walk away and think twice next time and choose a different path, youve just been spared and shown mercy."
Im not directing these statements to you brother, just trying to point out, a weapon isnt needed.
The motive is
What a weapon is for is like backup to offset the odds in favor of the defender in order to fend off those with ill intent.
But make no mistake, the mind is the most effective weapon(or better worded ...most effective tool)
