Luke 7:28
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

Matthew 14:9-11

9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

where was John weapon?

Are you a prophet?
Have you been destined to withstand the prelate of your kingdom by telling him the truth about marrying his brother's wife?
Are you destined to be cast into prison for the gospel?
Is everyone destined to be beheaded?
Is that our calling?
Everyone is to be beheaded for the gospel?
Who will spread it then?
Who will print the bibles, who will evangelize? Who will missionary unknown tribes,
if everyone is to insert their head into the nearest satan's chopping block?
Be the first to have your head sent home in a box for the glory of the kingdom!

Perhaps we can learn a lesson from real life?
It seems to be a truism that those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.
Conversely those who do not live by the sword shall not die by the sword?

we are in the last days, look what happens to the saints in the last days

Daniel 11

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed

Psalm 37:11
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Psalm 76:9
When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

1 Peter 3:4
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Tell that to the christians in Somalia.
Tell that to every christian killed for their faith.
Christian pastors are beaten to death every week in India.

No, ignore the facts and why don't you just keep telling it to yourself.

So you are claiming no follower of Christ is ever attacked?
What overturned turnip truck did you crawl out from under?
I'm not sure if a gun would have saved these people and the same for those living under Hitler, Stalin and the rest.
It might even have brought retribution on their families and caused even more sadness.

Here is where you are wrong.
The red revolution collected the guns, as did communist China.
See,.......reprobates enjoy turkey shoots.
Tyrants are tyrants because the people they tyrant over are unable to defend themselves.
Read Soljenitsin if you are serious. He tells about how it was in uncle joe stalin's mother russia.

You are talking about civil war the same as is happening in different parts of the world and thousands on both sides are being killed which proves my point which is that "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword."

In the case of an individual, if an armed guard came to take me away for example and I had a gun, I really doubt I would be able to escape, the only thing I would do would be to seal my own fate.

Proverbs 3: 5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.

Isaiah 33:22
22 For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our King.He will save us.

Everything as far as macro politics is a 'civil' war.
The rat race is in full extension.
This is the fall, that we compete in the secular world.
In the kingdom of heaven it is different.
Here I agree with you, that we are to be peace makers.
But I'm telling you, if you would step outside yourself you would see this world is ruled by violence.
Jesus said to buy swords. - When? Shortly before His death.
Why? So His own could protect themselves from the reprobates who give no quarter and take no prisoner.
I'm telling you, evil men with evil intentions are at the gate.
If you don't see that you are not living.
God expects us to do our part in protecting the innocent,.....even to the peril of our own lives.
Why? Because this is loving your neighbor as yourself.

wow that is a logical fallacy.

sometimes people who have never touched a sword still die by it.

original post - spiritual warfare not physical warfare -- Jesus told his disciples to bring a sword for protection. Our battle isn't just against flesh and blood, yes but people are still evil without the help of Satan

That would be for example persecuted Christians. I agree.

So, lets move the action to America where every Christian has a gun and the situation is the same as in Poland, Russia, China for example. How many millions of deaths do you think there would be in America?

So now with a stroke of the pen lets remove all those guns held by Christians which would just leave the military with guns.

There is the same level of persecution but how many deaths do you think there would be now?

didn't someone post that its illegal for people to own guns in China?

face the fact that laws only hold those who are law abiding.

Criminals will still smuggle guns like they smuggle drugs no matter what law you pass about it.

what is the point of playing hypothetical games?

the OP was not about spiritual warfare it was about guns. you don't get much more physical than that.

In light of the 2nd amendment and gun laws, what is Jesus word on the matter?

should we christians be against guns of for guns? OR should our faith(protection) only be with God?

Ephesians 6:11-16

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
well i can see how you would get that from the quoted scripture which is about spiritual warfare.

I pray that no one here ever has to kill another human being. I also pray for the person that over reacts and kills someone with a toy gun, or a BB gun.
It isn't just as simple as protection.

however one goes back to Stillwaters question about where do you draw the line when you say " OR should our faith(protection) only be with God? "

No seatbelts? No vaccines? no medicine? no self defense?

ALSO why did Jesus tell His disciples that before He sent them out without the moneybag and sword but NOW to get both?

Neither do GUNS...

PEOPLE kill PEOPLE... and coincidentally, anyone can use a seatbelt, a vaccine or "medicine" as the instrument of death.

Who gave you that piece of disinformation??

If you looked closely into it I bet you would find that doctors and medicine kill far more people than guns do.

Perhaps you should go on a crusade against them...
