Harry Potter is wrong. As a Christian I am against all tipe of witchcraft. I just want to tell you that the Bible chapter that tells us to have nothing to do with witchcraft is Detronomium 18 vers ten. There stand clearly you must have nothing to do with witchcraft. Harry Potter is wrong.

Exodus 20

4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Harry Potter is wrong because Deut. 18:10. Saying "God" at the beginning of the sentence of a daily conversation or when you are annoyed or angry at someone (for example when people say "Oh my God") is wrong. Singing hyms while an image of an artist's rendition of Jesus is being displayed up front is also wrong. Telling children's stories while showing them a picture of a human's idea of Jesus is also wrong...

Yet we select the things that for us are absolutely wrong and will speak against, we select the things that could be up for personal interpretation, and we select the things that are obsolete and useless in our times. We would all make very good lawyers, bending and twisting words and ideas to justify ourselves. I think God foresaw that and inspired Paul to write the following:

Romans 14

1Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

(The underlining is my own)

It's important to share ideas, but to share them like an ultimatum, to say that Christians do this but they dont do that is wrong, in my personal opinion. I think we can share our ideas, say why we believe that, and accept the other person's point of view, never condeming anyone. So to say Christians dont watch Harry Potter would go against the biblical principle of not judging anyone.

Really, use the good sense that God gave you. If someone is susceptible to emulating behavior in literature and movies, quit reading and watching TV.

Does anyone really believe they can control everything a child watches, reads, hears, sees… what about friends, teachers, current events in school? The news is pretty vicious these days. Harry Potter in comparison?? Eh.

A wiser person might consider educating and preparing their children rather than attempting to shield them forever.

(1 Kings 18:21) - all unnatural things that are bought and sold are idols because they draw worship from God. U serve what U work (labour) for (Luke 16:3). Many people believe it to be harmless to follow the works of the hand come from man. In other words, if there were any Devine nature in the Harry Potter movies, than this would be evident in all the hands involved with its creation. I believe that if the people knew better... they would not create anymore temptations for children. The world has enough temptations as it was in the beginning... I have enough!!! Its hard enough to see through the deceptions of the times (Matthew 16:3 - Ephesians 5:16) without more pretty destractions. I'm participating in this discussion through my PlayStation 3. Will anyone say that such a thing is not already a destraction? My point is that if it aint playstation, I aint playin'! I take the word of God very seriously & do not play games when it comes to the salvation of my brothers & sisters (Mark 3:33)!

When you get closer to God you learn that yes even your TV watching is to be be deserned. The helmet of God is for you to protect your eyes, your ears, and your mind from things of this world and the evil one. Harry Potter was written by a witch who wanted everyone to know she was a witch. Right there something tells you something is wrong. The evil ugly movies are given straight from hell. To watch all these things can open doors to hell. Think about about it if your watching some evil show is that a good thing God would like or is it a thing that satan would like. We are to try to be holy like God. In Iceland I think, is a lady is opening a school for kids to learn witch craft and wizzard stuff. Harry Potter is making children think all this evil stuff is normal. God bless you

Mitke: I'm sorry you've been so offended by some of the light comments on this discussion. I don't think anyone meant to offend, I think the guys who are joking around are just having fun. We serve a God who likes laughter
And He hates witchcraft. The fact that people in here think Harry Potter is no more than harmless entertainment, or so called christian allowing it in their house or allowing their Children to watch it is no laughing matter. I assure God does not take things like this lightly.

This is exactly what Miktre was referring to when people sin are exposed instead of repenting they make a joke. Sin is not funny to God.

John 3
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Sure you do. You did say you let your daughter (The one God has given you to raise correctly) to watch Harry Potter, a satanic, occultic conditioning tool of the Devil. If you think that is not reason to repent then you need to reexamming yourself quickly.
