Salvation absolutely is like a job. Salvation is abiding in Christ and that requires effort, and not obeying the boss will get you fired. What salvation isn't is a state of being or entitlement.
Then we do not need to be saved, we can save ourselves.

Salvation is not a job Peter.. Thats your first issue.. If I could do Gods will and make it to heaven by my works, I would NOT NEED SAVED.

Salvation is a position, It is gained by Gods grace (unearned merit) and given only to those who truly want it (faith)

do you want saved peter? or will you continue to try to earn Gods love?

"SALVATION IS a POSITION"

Says everything really.

What a glorious place to be in HIM eternally

Amen and thank you eternally-gratefull!

EG - And I thought you would have progress.

The illustration of a job is about authority and who you take orders from.
If we cannot agree on issues of authority and who is your Lord there is nothing
left. How can you say you love Him and not obey Him?

This is all the apostles are saying. You want to make it into something else.
It is like you believe the same things yet a divide sits there. Maybe you never
connected with your dad, or it is just a tick box list. Ofcourse I can never earn
salvation, but as a child of God I want to follow my Lord.

What christians have been saying and God himself, is if you are a duck, sound like
a duck, talk like a duck you are a duck. If you are not a duck then do not expect
to be treated as one.

Actually, many Jews thought that they were entitled to salvation because they were sons of Abraham and circumcised. And they didn't obey the boss when he showed at the work site. So they were canned.
Well, it's the other ones then. The ones like you who tried futilely to make themselves acceptable to God through their own self efforts.

For some it's like the cross never happened.....and worse, it's like it wasn't even neccesary.

I believe repentance is more than just a one time thing. Refusal to repent whenever Spirit shows me my sin adds up to rebellion. This is how losing salvation happens. No one plucked me out of my Father's hand. He did not forsake me. I willfully chose to jump ship. No one to blame but me.
Will not Jesus leave the 99 to go after the one who strays? If you jump ship, He's going in after you.

they were canned because they did not BELIEVE the boss when he arrived, They were too busy trying to obey the commands, which they THOUGHT made them righteous (along with being descendents)

For some it's like the cross is the only thing that matters. There seems to be no awareness that Jesus is a distinct human being who must be obeyed, but instead a belief that the only obedience required is to believe that they are co-joined in a mystical union with him.

It is our hope.

Where our hope is, there our faith is. (faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR.

Is our hope in Christ? (thus our faith, in Christ)

Or is our hope in how good we think we are? (obedience) and thus our faith. (in self).

Jesus said he did not come to be served but to serve.

Try allowing yourself to be served by Christ. Then come back and talk to me.

As jesus said, Whoever has entered his rest, has ceased from their work.

Hebrews 4:10
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

I have entered his rest Peter. When will you?

It is the only thing that matters.

1 Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

It is the root of our faith, our hope and our want to be like him.

Apart from the cross. we have nothing.. absolutely nothing.

The cross is what justifies and reconciles. His life is what saves.

For if, [while we] were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, by much more, having been reconciled, we will be saved in his life. Romans 5:10

The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed
The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed
The kingdom of heaven is like yeast
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure
the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls
the kingdom of heaven is like a net
the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house
the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts
the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner

Now you could pick holes in the analogy if you want.

The truth is it is so obvious you do what your boss tells you to do.

The lie is you know this is true but hate, hate to admit it.

This is called rebellion or sin. So when you say Jesus is your Lord you are lying.
When you call Him your Saviour, you will not do what he has commanded.

Is this how you repay obligation or debt owed to a friend? I do not want to be
your friend.

For Paul the cross encompasses the total theological significance of the "finished work" of Jesus Christ....inclusive of His death, burial, resurrection, ascension, Pentecostal outpouring and all of our future and last expectations. Good to see you acknowledging that it is Christs life that saves us, and not you and your self efforts.

Revelation 3:5 In the same way, the victor will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels.

Doesnt this imply that some names which were written in the book of life that they won't be there anymore?
That's correct, which proves it is possible to fall away from the faith back unto death by ongoing sin and have your name blotted out of the book of Life. Hyper grace and OSAS followers will try to twist the meaning of this verse, as they often do with a lot of other scriptures in order to make it fit into their false doctrine. They will claim everyone who was ever been born has his name in the book of life, which is totally false. Only those who have passed from death to Life are written in the book of Life, as all men were once "dead" in their sins and trespasses.

Those who have their names blotted out of the book of Life are known in scripture as being twice dead. The twisting and perverting of Gods words by teaching lies can also get one blotted out of the book of Life, not to mention ongoing sin.

Revelation 21:27
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
