WHAT IS ON YOUR HEART?[/h]

Many of us have been taught that we cannot trust our hearts. We quote verses like “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…” (Jeremiah 17:9), not knowing that Jeremiah was referring to the man who had not received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

I have had people come to me and say, “Pastor Prince, I don’t know what I should do with my life.”

“What is on your heart?” I asked one of them.

“I would love to work among children.”

“Then work among children!”

“But I am waiting on the Lord to tell me to do that.”

“Well, He has given you the desire, so go and work among children!”

“But the desire comes from my heart. How do I know if it is of God?”

My friend, once you are saved, you have a brand new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and you can trust the promptings of your heart because God dwells in you and He leads you from within. And don’t worry because His promptings will never contradict His Word. It will lead you to good success.

Often, you find that when you follow your inner promptings, it is actually God who has put those desires in your mind and written them on your heart. I remember years ago when I approached one of our church leaders and told him, “I really think that you are called to be a full-time pastor.” It turned out to be a confirmation of what he already knew on the inside. You see, God was already leading him from within. Today, he is one of our full-time pastors.

If you enjoy something and desire to do it, then go for it! Go with the flow. God Himself says that He will guide us from within. Let’s not doubt Him. And don’t worry about the outcome. Your part is just to follow the flow. God’s part is to work in you both the willingness and the performance of it! (Philippians 2:13)

Beloved, because God has given you a new heart, He will write His desires on it. And as you fulfill these desires, you will bring forth fruit, and not wither and die. Whatever you do will prosper!

For all the many years I was a member of a local church., the pastor never told us this. He told us that our hearts are still deceitful. Thank God for the Holy Spirit and the Bible that teaches we are now sons and daughters of our Father God. That He will write the truth on our hearts now because Jesus has finished the transaction.

Writing laws on hearts and minds doesn't mean do what feels right. Even if people are born again believers it doesn't mean that the flesh is suddenly mute. Let's take fitness for example. We can get in shape and validate it by thinking that the body is a temple for the Holy Spirit and I am keeping it healthy. I know from experience that when your body gets stronger and better looking and chemically balanced it changes your mind. There are hormones that effect your thoughts, sugar effects your thoughts, pleasure effects your thoughts. We don't actually think with our "hearts". The point of this is when you accept Christ and WALK IN THE SPIRIT God can communicate with you. It's like our brains are computers. We have a certain operating system. Even if we are getting sent information we can't open the files because our system can't translate it. When we accept Christ, we download a different oporating system and it has a bunch of features. One of these features is the Law that is completely interpreted for us. Another feature is being able to open the files and messages that God is sending. Now we still have both oporating systems. We will call one flesh and one Spirit. If you are using the flesh then you still can't trust your thoughts are God's thoughts. If you are using the Spirit you can. You MUST analyze your motives for all of your actions. Like I was stating about exercise, being in shape for health and serving God, good. Getting in shape to look sexy (attractive), be more dominant and superior, bad. One way you can determine the difference is if you miss a week of healthy living. There are many things that I want to do that under scrutiny are just selfish and self serving. There are many things that I don't want to do that I know are God's instruction. As in the OP if the lady wanted to work with children because it would be God manifesting His love through her then good. If for some reason the lady thought, even subconsciously, that those who work with the youth are looked upon more favourably, and it was for ego sake, bad. I have witnessed many people in the church putting on appearances and ignoring their true callings to look Christlike.

Is it significant that it is His laws and not the Law that is put in our minds?

What is the first law that God put into you're mind? What is it?
Mt 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mr 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Lu 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

Trusting not self but the word of God. Learning through the guidance of the Holy Spirit which the natural man lacks.

It's a matter of going through the process with the Holy Spirit. We do not have to be afraid to learn from Him since He is within us. We are daily learning how to change. So the Bible says we can "have this confidence" in the fact that Jesus has saved us and He said He hasn't left us alone. He gave us the Holy Spirit to teach and to guide and comfort.

We learn from His promptings and just like when the Bible was written, God used men with their certain personalities to write the Scriptures. He didn't immobilize the men's personalities. The men were moved by the Holy Spirit. How much more "US" who have the Holy Spirit with us as a seal and a promise and He will never leave us.

A lot of what you say is true and makes sense. We can also take it some steps further knowing it is God who works within us to do of His good pleasure. That is a promise. All these things fall into place and I've learned we can't try and 100% figure God out. His ways are not always understandable. But we can learn to 100% trust Him with our lives even if we don't understand what He is doing and why.

We can know He is always good and His will is always going to work out for our good too. His love for us is without question. He has proven that by giving us His Son. Only God can make a dead man live. And Jesus said if we have seen Him we have seen the Father.

Why would anyone be afraid to learn from the Holy Ghost?[/QUOTE

Lot's of believers steer clear of any obvious discussion of this. They believe the Holy Spirit is not a major obvious Person or factor. When in fact He is the One who leads us into all truth. There are evidences of the Holy Spirit working in our lives but many believers are not open to those and in fact will be so apposed to any discussion about Him they miss out on Him all together except for a tiny awareness of Him since He is in them but quenched by them. They never interacted with Him before so they don't know how to know the difference.

I speak from my own experience. We were warned that the Holy Spirit doesn't speak of Himself but always magnifies Jesus. This is true and He does it just as obviously as we are doing it in our lives. We are aware of ourselves in this. We are to magnify the Son too. But the Holy Spirit does this perfectly whereas we are still learning.

Again, much of this is a learning process and as we open ourselves up to learning it takes a boldness to know we are sons of God redeemed and changed, given a new heart. We don't have to mistrust and fear like many of us Christians were taught to fear. We can move forward in confidence that He will do as He promised.

God is awesome and not easy for us to figure out. He is 3 in One. He is God the Father., God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Each functions in different ways yet each are One God. How to figure this out I can't but I do see it in the Bible and accept it by faith. And He has confirmed it to my heart.

Everything Jesus did magnified the Holy Ghost. And Jesus spoke of the Holy Ghost all the time.

I see that Jesus always magnified the Father and did those things that pleased Him. Can you post the verses that say Jesus magnified the Holy Spirit? That would help in the discussion.

Luke 12

8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men,
him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man,
it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth
against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

Here you can see where Jesus spoke of and magnified the Holy Ghost.

Even above Himself.

This has been a subject that brings division to the church and confusion to believers. It is taught by religion not by the Bible. Jesus never said that He was the Father, nor the Holy Spirit (figure). There are three individuals all deity, but not the same Person. It would be more like saying that sugar, fiber and potatoes are all carbohydrates. It's not saying that water, ice and steam are all H2O. There are multiple verses to back this up but only a couple that can be loosely understood to mean the other.
