He mostly is just tell me when you found out. Were you visited or did you figure it out on your own?
God did not tell you anything about me. And He won't.

In Genesis 8:21 God evaluated the condition of man's heart and it has not changed. " and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done."

You can find many debates on CC regarding this issue. It's not that I don't care what others believe but on some issues, it matters less than others. This is one that people will fight tooth and nail to hold to no matter how high the evidence stacks to the contrary. Sometimes you just have to pick your battles. Be blessed joaniemarie, I've gotta run.

It makes no sense to fight amongst ourselves let alone fight tooth and nail. Christians need to quit that stuff. It reminds me of what is said about hating or being angry with someone. All it means is you are thinking to give someone the "business" when in fact you are giving yourself the poison of anger. It's tearing down your own family and helping the devil to his business.

We can't force someone to believe as we do. We need to take a lesson from the Holy Spirit. He doesn't force anyone to move forward if they want to stay in one place. How can we mere humans think our words of persuasion can do it better? I've chosen to say the truth for encouragement's sake in Christ, and let the chips fall where they will. Many will disagree and want to fight but I refuse to engage them.

Using insults and petty "gottcha" sentences or re posting things I've posted with their own commentary is just weak emotional attempts to discredit me and others. We should all be learning to rise above this sort of behavior., not celebrate it.

I wouldn't argue with you about the trinity Hungry. Have a blessed day too!

Really? so everything your heart tells you is now good once you come to God? I don't know many Christians would claim that. Seems like an oversimplification to me. The law on the heart actually means something and should be understood in the biblical context.

I've noticed us humans tend to make everything much harder than it is especially Christians. But He promised to go before us and be our Shepherd. So why does this have to be so hard? We make it hard imo. It seems to be in our nature as humans to lean on our own understanding and unless the Lord shows us otherwise (when we let Him) we will continue making it hard to live the Christian life.

It's been said before, "the Christian life isn't hard, it's impossible". It seems the first step is to realize that truth and then follow the Shepherd who makes straight our paths and says His yoke is easy and His burden is light. (His words not mine).

The scripture says to delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. His desires will be birthed in us in our new heart in Christ. We have a new heart now when we receive Christ. We still need to have our minds renewed to the truths of who we are in Christ.

The Holy Spirit /Christ Himself dwells now in our new creation in Christ - also called the hidden man of the heart - which is precious in the sight of God.

Phil 2:13 says "For it is God at work in you , both to will and to do His good pleasure." God gives us the desire and the capability by His grace to carry out that desire.

I have no objection to what you said here. But my point is against the original op which suggests that because one desires to do something it must be from God because they have accepted Christ. I disagree that we can assume that all our impulses are from God. I acknowledge God leads us and directs our path but this is despite our failures.

That is why I have made the point that having the law on the heart actually means something. The Bible tells us what it means and it never says it means we can trust our every impulse as if its from God. That is my only point.

I have heard people imply that this law on the heart means we some how automatically spiritually know and do all that is right. But this hardly mixes with what reality in the christian life shows. A christian still grows and learns.

I think you should reread the devotional gotime because he didn't "suggest that because one desires to do something it must be from God because they have accepted Christ" Anything and everything does not apply obviously (or at least I assumed that was clear). The point is we have been given a new heart and that actually does mean something.

I like the feedback here on the posts about how God does give us "the desires of our hearts". He is changing us daily and we already have the obvious guidelines from the Bible of what is or isn't sin so we wouldn't be seeking to sin-- obviously.

The example was given from this pastors life about a leader in his church who he believed was called to be a full time pastor. He talked to his brother in the church and actually confirmed what the man already was feeling led to do so it was a confirmation of what his brother already knew inside. These things are a progression and a learning I've been noticing.

Being in a church and having other brothers and sisters in Christ should be a vital way of life for us I've been noticing especially in these last days. It's all part of the blessings God desires to give us as we follow Him. It sounds like when we put ourselves in the 'center' of God's will by stepping out by the obedience of faith, these things will occur quite often because He will show us again and again how to be in the center of His will each day as each new opportunity comes our way.

No one has even hinted that we can trust every "impulse" as if it's from God since we know all impulses are not of God. I have impulses to procrastinate and it's not of God just like many impulses that happen in a given day. That sort of thing was not said in this thread by the writer of the devotional or by me who posted the devotional. Philippians 2:13 says God works in you both the willingness and the performance of it. That in itself is a miracle! And all because of Jesus we have this promise.

I'm finding when discussing ideas with others that there are things that (are) said and things that are (not) said. We need to make sure we are not projecting what we (think) is being said on others. Very often they are not guilty of the thought.

I was taught from the beginning of my Christian walk to never trust my heart because they quoted "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked...(Jeremiah 17:9) I didn't rightly divide the Word because Jeremiah was referring to the natural state of man without God.

I'm glad there are teachers in the body of Christ that point to these things about our hearts being new and are not the old ones we used to have. Ezekiel 36:26
[SUP]26 [/SUP]A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

It's amazing how each verse is 100% right for who it is talking about. We need to know the who, what, when and the why. And then it's a great comfort to know the Comforter and Teacher (the Holy Spirit) will actually teach us when we ask. It all works so well when we let Him lead. It doesn't have to be hard or confusing. He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.

Maybe I have misunderstood the point, But when I read this, "My friend, once you are saved, you have a brand new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and you can trust the promptings of your heart because God dwells in you and He leads you from within. And don’t worry because His promptings will never contradict His Word. It will lead you to good success." it implies that because one has been saved they can now trust the promptings of the heart. In fact it does say that does it not? However whether it is written in a misleading way or my way of reading it is wrong you have clarified that that was not the intended meaning and I accept that. Thank you for your time.

You're welcome :) It's very wonderful that we can know and not worry because the Holy Spirit's promptings will never contradict His Word. The point being made is the comparison of a Christian who was taught to always identify his heart as deceitful and desperately wicked vs the Christian who is taught that his heart is new and can be trusted since it is of God and has the Holy Spirit inside.

Over the last few years I've sat under the teaching of Christians who have a faith in the goodness of God and His desire to bless us and show us His ways that are always good and satisfying. That Jesus has paid for all the blessings and favor we have from God. That His love for us will be a working part of our lives here and now as well as later in heaven. That He is our Good Shepherd Who will give us all the things we need and lead us just as the Bible says in Psalm 23.

Psalm 23

A Psalm of David.

[SUP]1 [/SUP]The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [SUP][a][/SUP]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

Today I work at believing what the Bible says by faith regardless of what the world and my circumstances are screaming. That is what I've come to know as the good fight of faith. We are supposed to be engaged in this fight every day. It is interesting to note that Psalm 23 is traditionally said at funerals when it is really for us now while we are here on earth.
