Joseph and Christ compared....obviously Joseph is found in Genesis and the scriptures that follow are applied unto Jesus....

Jesus the Christ
Genesis 37:3 ... Loved of the Father... John 3:35
Genesis 37:4 ... Hated of brethren without cause ... John 15:25
Genesis 37:20... Let us Kill him ... John 5:16
Genesis 37:23... Stripped of his garments ... Matthew 27:28
Genesis 37:28 ...Sold for silver ... Matthew 26:15
Genesis 42:21 ...Anguish of his soul ... Hebrews 5:7
Genesis 40:21-22 ...Two criminal companions ... Luke 23:33
One lost –One saved
Genesis 40:15 ... Innocent suffering ... Luke 23:47
Genesis 41:40 ... Second in the Kingdom ... John 5:22-23
Genesis 41:45... Gentile Bride ... Acts 15:14

These are just a few of the comparisons that are made between Joseph and Jesus. Brothers and Sisters I encourage you to shut the T.V. off and pick up the Bible and find out who your Lord really is and see how deep the Bible really goes beyond salvation.

we have read the story of Joseph, reconciling with his brothers that TREATED him SO wickedly -
and we are so very moved every time we go there, for it is not ONLY a literary MASTER-PIECE,
but, much more, it is our own PROPHETIC HOPE, PROPHETIC REALITY.

TY, DC, for bringing us into remembrance, yet once again.

the beautiful part about this story in the first Book, is that it tells the story of the LAST Book,

like it is written,
I Am the First and the Last, and there is no other god beside ME.'

I also loved the Gospel hidden in the Genesis 5 lineage and the meaning of the names.

There is no end to the depths of Gods word.

Its amazing how Christ is depicted in Just about everything in His word. There probably is a picture in Christ in everything in His word.............thats why it amazing to study. He's probably depicted in the dotting of the "i's" and the crossing of the "t's", just haven't got there in study yet!

Amen to that.....I have never been a crying type of guy...only a few things that have moved me to tears and almost every time I have read where Joseph weeps and reveals himself to his brothers I get choked up....a very moving moment in the bible for sure......

==========================================

I, mrs, have always been a weeper/griever for my brothers and sisters, and some how, I have never felt
self-conscience about this, and this in itself is a miracle, because I was born into a coven of witch-craft...

and so, I cannot help to weep for those that weep, and to rejoice abundantly with those who rejoice!!!

my emotional fortresses and strong-holds have been completely broken down...........
I am an open book...............................

HOLD THAT THOUGHT..... imagine what it could look like in heaven.... when it is revealed that Jason (tho not mature, and definitely lacking in sensibility).... really did have specific revelation from God (a dream/purpose).....how about that?

No offence, but this thread is about Jesus and Joseph not Jason!..and God does not give purpose and or revelation to those who reject the free gift of eternal life found in his Son Jesus and or those who preach a message of sinless perfectionism and or a working for salvation false gospel.......sorry if that offends you!

Judah suggested the selling Of Joseph~~~~The Greek for Judah, Judas

What about Josephs coat? it would be interesting to know if it was a lamb skin. It was presented to his father with the goats blood on it.........Jesus Christ is our scapegoat.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was lamb skin. Anyone know?

I don't know about the material other than the King Jimmy translates it a coat of many colors, but if I remember right the Hebrew word means pieces.......coat of may pieces may indicate all of the different races and or nationalities represented...even colors can represent that in a way......

Thanks bud or dude;). reading it from this perspective and with it your mind on it wow. We could start a huge list!

They brought Joseph alive out of the pit~~~~~Jesus arose alive out of the tomb.

Actually dc, my previous post wasn't intended to be about a <person> it was meant to provoke thought about behavior. In the same manner people were rotten to joseph and rotten to jesus.... PEOPLE are rotten to other people.... and in many cases the persecuters come out on the "whoops" and "uh-oh" side of the equation.

..shouldl I quote some scripture for that?

Even more deep theology found in this story of Joseph....another good thought about Christ coming out of the pit alive....

Both Joseph and Jesus were in Egypt as well and came out of Egypt into the land of promise..........and will have resurrected in the Land of Promise......
