Actually dc, my previous post wasn't intended to be about a <person> it was meant to provoke thought about behavior. In the same manner people were rotten to joseph and rotten to jesus.... PEOPLE are rotten to other people.... and in many cases the persecuters come out on the "whoops" and "uh-oh" side of the equation.

..shouldl I quote some scripture for that?
With out a doubt that is true and happens for sure.....but to be honest.....He is not a persecuted saint for the sake of the gospel....and almost every one on this site that has dealt with him (some of us for a year or longer) will not put up with his twist of scripture and or twist of what we say any longer........I am sorry if that offends you....What he teaches is nothing but religious circles while rejecting verb tenses, context, the definitions of words and MANY on here see it and acknowledge it!

Now..do you have anything to add to this thread concerning Joseph and Jesus and how they can be compared......please!

Brothers and Sisters I encourage you to shut the T.V. off and pick up the Bible and find out who your Lord really is and see how deep the Bible really goes beyond salvation.
Jason, this is for you. Except the "brothers and sisters" part. You have to belong to Christ to be one.

I'm not sure if this is right, but both were snubbed by their brothers and both were persecuted in a foreign land. Joe in Egypt, and the King of Kings on Earth.

I have heard by a Pastor once say there is a book out there that lists hundreds of these parallels between Joseph and Jesus. Which I find to be absolutely fascinating.

Here is 60 of them listed here in this PDF document.

www.hannoveribc.com/.../60similaritiesbetweenjosephandjesuspink.pdf

Now, there is a connection the Lord showed for me personally between Joseph and Jesus one day.

What is that connection? Well, it has to do with Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. For what was in the cup that made Jesus shrink, He had never recoiled before? For something clearly pressed in upon Him now that was something he had never faced before. What was it? What could bring the mighty, majestic Son of God to such depths of sorrow and agony? What force or power could wring such anguish sweat from His brow?

Isaiah 53:6 gives the answer when it simply states. “The Lord [God, the Father] laid on Him [Jesus Christ] the iniquity of us all.” For by His stripes we are healed. He was crushed for our iniquities. He was wounded for our transgressions. All things that suggest that Jesus took upon the sin of the world at the Garden of Gethsemane and then was whipped and beaten for our transgressions before He went to the cross to complete out His sentence of torture and death. The “cup” was filled with the sin of the world. The guilt and pollution of all the world was there in that cup. Jesus saw the totality of sin – its length, its width, its depth – and He recoiled from it.

Just as Joseph's had tested his brothers by putting a silver cup in Benjamin's sack (his youngest brother), he found out that Judah was willing to take his younger brother's place because of the guilt that was found with this cup (Genesis 44:6-13) (Genesis 44:18-34). For Judah no doubt bared the guilt of what he did to Joseph and did not want to see his father go thru any more suffering over yet another son of whom he loved very much. In other words, Judah did not want to bare all that guilt.

In fact, there are times; I’m sure when some of us are bared the guilt or were oppressed by the weight of even our own sin. But, think the weight of the sins of the whole world that pressed down upon Christ’s soul, until He sinks lower and lower, and cries out, “Oh, Father, is there any other way, must I drink this cup of iniquity?”

2 Corinthians 5:21 - "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

1 Peter 2:24 - "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

I don't know about the material other than the King Jimmy translates it a coat of many colors, but if I remember right the Hebrew word means pieces.......coat of may pieces may indicate all of the different races and or nationalities represented...even colors can represent that in a way......
The real issue has nothing to do with colors. Jacob presented the special coat to Joseph as a sign that Joseph was esteemed above his brothers. The coat signified Joseph as being Jacob’s choice as the future head of the clan—an honor normally bestowed upon the firstborn son.

Yes I know, but the coat of many colors (pieces) was covered with blood and given to Jacob who perceived that his son was dead.....When in fact he was alive and would ultimately save his family and provide for them while sustaining their lives.....

Hence the words...(may indicate)..... :)

I think you have something there. I also think something else was tormenting Jesus. He spent forever with his Father and the Holy Spirit in constant communication and praise. He was about to be abandoned from that.

(Sorry. Can't really come up with something to compare that to Joe, since Joe wasn't forever, nor God.)

And? Sohwee, just not picking up on what you'r saying and how Joseph being the head of the clan would ultimately make him one of the Fathers of the Nation of Israel.

Another one. Reuben returned to the pit and discovered Joseph gone. Initially I was thinking Mary finding the tomb empty.

But maybe this correlates better with Peter going to the tomb and seeing it empty. Luke 24:12

I think most of your post is "man's traditions theory", I don't know of any indication where the scripture ASSERTS the tradition typically used for this interpretation... but the scripture says... Jacob gave joseph a special coat because he was especially loved, the scriptures also reveal... WHY joseph was especially loved.

Genesis 42:21 ...Anguish of his soul ... Hebrews 5:7
Genesis 40:21-22 ...Two criminal companions ... Luke 23:33
One lost –One saved
Genesis 40:15 ... Innocent suffering ... Luke 23:47

Amen to that.....I have never been a crying type of guy...only a few things that have moved me to tears and almost every time I have read where Joseph weeps and reveals himself to his brothers I get choked up....a very moving moment in the bible for sure......
Don't forget that Joseph revealed himself to his brothers the second time that they saw him:

"And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh." (Acts 7:13)

Another good point as Christ will make himself known unto the remnant of Israel at the 2nd Coming......Good observation JITC

No offence, but this thread is about Jesus and Joseph not Jason!..and God does not give purpose and or revelation to those who reject the free gift of eternal life found in his Son Jesus and or those who preach a message of sinless perfectionism and or a working for salvation false gospel.......sorry if that offends you!

  • I Corinthians 15:34 Awake to righteousness (like Jason taught you) and SIN NOT (like Jesus and Paul taught you); for some (dcontroversial, atwhatcost, blondieindahouse, utah, and barlygirl) have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame!!
  • Dear brothers and sisters, i assure you that God Almighty most surely does give purpose and revelation to those of us who serve Him. Woe unto the backbiters and lovers of sin, liars who are false teaching and those telling young men and women that it is impossible to cease from sin! That teaching is contrary to the Word of God! Repent of false teaching and persecuting the true servants of the Most High God!! REPENT! You should no longer choose to sin! True repentance is a turning away...please, i beg you...turn away from knowingly choosing to follow satan by sinning, rather turn unto Christ and be clothed in holiness! It is possible i adjure you! I beg you! Reconsider your harsh judgments against Jason! In Jesus name! Amen.
