Is it a sin for women to wear pants?

How is it decided when mosaic laws apply or not?

I mean a man acting like a woman and laying with a man.

Why on one hand it's said to be OT and doesn't apply anymore and the other hand says it still does?


Is there a fine line. No line. Or black and white ????

The fine line is that we do not live based off what the written ordinances of the Mosaic law, as that would be seeking justification from the law as the Galatians were guilty of doing.

We live by what Christ said and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.............

Will some of the OT ordinances be upheld by walking in love, yes, but we are not to live our lives thinking we have to obey every single one of them. Also the Word of God says if you want to keep part of the law you are bond to the whole law !!!

I know what your thinking "this is an O.T scripture" but was it brought over into the N.T 2 Timothy 2:9 & 1peter 3

I know years ago, no matter what denomination you was in, most of the women wore dresses. even in old movies and pictures ladies wore dresses.

have we missed a "small fox" by changing on this? especially in view of this homosexual spirit that has invaded America and the church, with the blending of the sexes.

I use to wear dresses to church. Now days it is nearly impossible to find dresses or skirts since no one wears them.If you do find one its not modest enough to wear. There really is no choice in the matter.

The first church where I got saved I always wore my brother's pants, I thought they looked tougher on me and no man ever bothered me when I dressed like a boy, which was great. But then I had to wear a skirt from the youth pastor, so I borrowed one from my mom. I was 15 and looked like an old granny. Oh my. Dunno which was worse actually.

Once again, a rather rude and ignorant response. I made several claims in that post, and what a respectable and intelligent person would do is refute my post with appropriate counterclaims. Show me how I am misguided in my thinking, don't just tell me I'm misguided. If you don't know how to respond to my post, then I'd suggest you stay silent.

Yes, and it is all down to spiritual immaturity and ignorance. Now, that can become a real thorn in our sides, when people dig in and refuse to move along into maturity and in their understanding of God and His word.

I really don't get it. You must dress decent so that no man looks at you and you have to wear a skirt.

Its about -20F here today.

If its a sin to wear pants then people are going to freeze.

Is it a sin for men to protect themselves from freezing but not allow women?

Is it a sin for men to wear those kilt things?

I would say we have MUCH bigger fish to fry.

Oh my, yes, it's never that cold here, when I was in Canada in the winter I wore a ski suit in the mall with snowboots.

I think the title proves the point that it is not a sin for women to wear pants!!!!

Pants in the UK is normally a garment worn under trousers..ie, underwear. So its not a sin for women to wear pants :rolleyes:

The western idea of clear dress code for women- dresses and men- pants.. is misleading. In Greek and Roman culture both men and women wore "dresses".

So also in the old testament as well as in Jesus' day the Jewish men wore what looked like dresses, which were similar to what the women wore.

This is known because of the phrase used.. Gird up your loins. When a man wears pants then no girding would be necessary.

To gird the loins is to pull the hem up through the legs then tie around the waist so that one can move quickly without the legs getting tangled in the free-flowing garment.

There's also the matter of women having employment that is not always lady-like.. for instance working in a factory. The practicality of wearing pants becomes essential. Plus the impracticality of wearing dresses, panty hose and high heels when the woman of the house is scrubbing the floor.

Clearly, the sexes have to be distinguished by some other way than merely by dresses and pants.

It's these sorts of issues that we need to deal with accurately. If we accept Scripture's authority, it's important that we deal with what it's telling us correctly. If a rule is in the Church that is ungodly, then it must be challenged and explained why it's wrong - so we can understand what it is that God is saying.
So these are the issues that are affecting the church? Women wearing pants is what we as the church body need to be most concerned about? Ok then..
