Jesus is not a welfare check.... He is the Word of the Living God!
Before I even wrote my analogy, I already knew you would disagree with it, for you have set rules and guidelines within your comfort zone that you are unwilling to look beyond like a stone wedged on a mountain side.

Nah, I just go to God's Word and see things from His perspective. He ain't said nothing about Jesus being no welfare hand out from Heaven's welfare office where we sign up to get gospel food stamps.

You're welcome to look at it from a welfare point of view if you'd like... it has no baring on me either way so... enjoy!

I do not know if you are attempting to synthesize these texts with the claim that Jesus made to the fact that he did not even have a place to lay his head or if you are trying to create a discontinuity between the two. I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Jesus had a House

John 1:38,39

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

*Jesus cannot lie, right? If He did not have a house He must say "I'm homeless man, I don't have no where to go ya'll... I'm broke to so I hope my welfare check gets here soon!"
This text in no way implies that Jesus owned a house. They did not ask Jesus where his house was, they simply asked him where he was staying. Jesus stayed with many people in the three and 1/2 years of his ministry. He could have been staying with anyone.

Mark 2:15
And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in His house...

*He was out of town (touring, on the road with His entourage) when He said He had no where to lay His head.
This text does not say that "JESUS" sat at meat. It says that "HE" sat at meat. The antecedent of 'he' is Matthew from the previous verse. See the text in Matthew 9 of this same event.

Some of the disciples, apostles, had houses....
So what. That does not mean that Jesus did.

Christ our husband has a spiritual house, of many mansions that are made up of many lively stones as His bride coming down from heaven prepared as His wife.

1Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

He finished it when he said; it is finished .There is nothing to keep us from that mansion, the veil is rent.

I always assumed he was returning to his campsite. They were out in the middle of nowhere weren't they?

I wonder what kind of tents Jesus used. I wonder if they were donated to him.
Maybe they were from Goodwill.

Well, we do know that at about 18 months to 2 years of age, his parents were given the wealth of at least a prince, and it sure didn't take all that $ to travel to Egypt and back. So, I doubt He was ever hurting for money.

Relatively speaking, He probably had far more wealth than the TV evangelists so many people here bash for being so carnal as to dare to have money.
"dare to have money" are you serious?
Did you mean that tongue in cheek?

If you are joking, I agree.

Jesus said He had a house... reckon He's a liar?

His family was in the business of building stuff... why would He not build Him a place to stay?

Until He started His ministry... He worked! Reckon He blew all His money on bad investments and ended up broke?

Maybe the catholiks think He lived a home with momma er something

They did not ask Jesus where his house was
That's exactly what they asked him... they said "where dwellest thou?" in other words, they ask Him "where do you live?"

Jesus stayed with many people in the three and 1/2 years of his ministry
Yes, because he traveled around. The house He owned was not a mobile home cause... Jesus was not a redneck!

Although, I would be surprised that His chariot made up of thousand and thousands of angels... does resemble a rally nice pickup truck! Jesus is One Tough Guy Who cannot be whipped!

This text does not say that "JESUS" sat at meat.
That's exactly what God's Word says... "as Jesus sat at meat in His house"

Jesus was sitting down to have some supper.

Jesus kept the law with perfection and one of the promises God made for those that walk upright before Him is for their needs to be abundantly met... so maybe you think Jesus did not walk upright before God and lived broke, busted, and disgusted during His time on earth?

Really? He had to have a guy come on staff to handle all the money! A fella with no money certainly doesn't need a treasurer does he?

Those that have been taught religion instead of the Word of God always think it's wrong to have money, God don't heal, God won't protect you, God is out to git you, God will make you sick, God is just playing head games with mankind and one never knows what God is going to do... as though God did not mean what He promised in His Word.

That's too bad for those folks, sad indeed...

Basing your argument on a conjecture is simply not going to stand up
OK, so what God promised under the OT to those that walk upright before Him... are lies???

OR, are you accusing Jesus of not walking upright? Which is it???

Carnal man-made religious teaching always teaches Jesus was poor and we should be poor...

No, this is NOT what the word of God says. The Greek reads in this way, "Καὶ γίνεται κατακεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ." Literally, "And it happened that He was reclining in his house." The name Jesus appears nowhere in that clause. It was inserted by the KJV translators and it is wrong. The antecedent of HIS is Levi in verse 15, not Jesus.

we don't particularly like the 'feel, behind the 'question', it sounds 'false' and 'leading-to-something........

where our Lord lived was a different geographical location than what He spoke of,
as in, 'The Son of Man didn't have a place to lay His head', etc....

LUKE 11:54.
Laying wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.
(sometimes hard to believe for so many of us that Love our Father so much -
such goodness/un-selfishness in our Holy Creator - 'God is Love'...
as opposed to the wickedness of this world!)

Hi Willie,

I never knew that Jesus' parents received the wealth of a prince! Do you know which verse it is ?

Take care,
Alex

Something to do with some wise guys presenting gifts at the birth of Jesus of gold, frankincense and myrrh. I don't believe the quantities were listed but seeing as they traveled a long way to present these gifts the amount of each was probably substantial.

I will take a leaf out of the millennialist and say it is all spiritual, so he visits Jesus in his spiritual house that we can not see in heaven. I think I invented a new theology.
