I heard John speak a few times in the past before he died. I loved this saying of his -"this is my bible - my bible is the word of God - I believe what it says, I am what it says I am and I can do what it says I can do."
Yeah and peeps have no clue about the roots Joel grew up in and that the confession was really his Dad's
His Mother, Dodie was also very powerful in the Lord.

While I may not agree with everything about Joel, he is his own man, which is something other kids of powerful men of God never quite figured out.

Well said...I don't agree with everything any preacher says. I hope and pray that I won't agree with myself in 5 years on everything I "think" I know now.

Those that think they already know everything - will never "know" that they are in fact wrong about some things or maybe a better way would be - not complete in the knowing. We all know in "part" and we all need each other.

This judging of others in the body of Christ is NOT from God no matter the excuses they use. Just because some people see a subject in a different way then what they do - then they must be heretics. It's religious nonsense.

Joel is an encourager - and that is his ministry. There are millions of people watching his programs and they need just a hint of a glimmer of hope in their lives. God will use that to bring them to Himself and then bring teachers to strengthen them.

Imagine the heresy of telling people that God is good " and has good things for your life?...

It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. Romans 2:4

Even in the Old Covenant we saw the Lord's true heart.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

Agreed here. I totally blew it in a post a few days ago and railed against the founder of the WOF movement. While I have a direct opinion on him and his movement, I should not have sunk to that level

There are none of us here that have not spoken out of place in regard to others in the body of Christ. You are not alone my brother....:)

There are always some that take things in excess and go to the ditch in the road on some teachings. I don't agree with all things in the WOF either. They knew very little about the grace of God - well at least it was never taught that I heard anyway and I listened to them a lot about 30 years ago.

The righteous shall still live by faith! Now, I believe the Lord is emphasizing the truth of the finished work of Christ based on His grace and love alone.

That is correct Pollyanna. Its time for Christians to wake up and stop being deceived by Satan! Joel Osteen is a false prophet, and he does not preach the true gospel. He has 30,000 members in his church. That means that 30,000 people are on their way to hell, unless they repent and renounce the New Age teaching that they believe.Read Ephesians 5:11-12. to God be the Glory. Preacha24-7

The Greatest in the Kingdom
…49“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.” 50“Do not stop him, Jesus replied, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Joel Osteen is not against Jesus Christ!!

Really? so you know the hearts of 30,000 people? I don't know much about this guy but to say that all who follow him are going to hell is way off the mark

If anything, the 2 Peter 2 admonition against false teachers and the danger of being overcome by a false teacher (being brought into their bondage) would come into focus. I wouldn't say that those 30,000 are 100% going to hell as God leads many people out from false teachers if they heed Him (case in point, so many people have been saved out of the Roman Catholic Church...), but there is certainly danger spiritually if one remains under a false teacher.

Amen...look at these people worshipping the Lord Jesus. They love the Lord with their whole heart.

It's just that to some have a doctrinal difference so to them they are false teachers - in real life these are just malicious gossipers that bring strife and division to others in the body of Christ.

Here is an example of their church service - you can see the heart of the people in this. You will easily see that it is the Lord that is there and that they in fact lift up Christ.

Watch and give us your honest opinion Blain. We trust your heart for the Lord.

Joel Osteen is not against Jesus Christ!!

Matthew 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Matthew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

So I watched the sermon video and here is what I saw from it. Joel while made it a point to speak to us about self worth self encouragement and self confidence always pointed to God he continued to make sure we knew to look to God for our worth and for encouragement he also was pretty fun i got some good laughs he gave good biblical examples and was even willing to express his own shortcomings and mistakes.

Granted from just one video I don't know him as much as I should to make a certain and complete view on him but so far I see none of all that is said about him that the op expressed

What We Believe

We Believe…
… the entire Bible is inspired by God, without error and the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine.

… in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth as Savior of the world.

… Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe that salvation is found by placing our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and is coming again.

… water baptism is a symbol of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

… in the regular taking of Communion as an act of remembering what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross.

… every believer should be in a growing relationship with Jesus by obeying God’s Word, yielding to the Holy Spirit and by being conformed to the image of Christ.

… as children of God, we are overcomers and more than conquerors and God intends for each of us to experience the abundant life He has in store for us.

can someone maybe point to me the words or sermon or video in which makes everyone say what the op said? otherwise I would have to conclude everything said about him in the op is merely an attack on him and nothing more. I am not one to simply believe what I am told or taught I have to seek out and learn the truth for myself which is why I am asking for proof of the accusations

His ministry is to exhort the people and to encourage them to trust in God. He is NOT a teacher as he himself says so. His function in the body of Christ is to help people get out of the mindsets of being discouraged and they have lost hope. When they get new hope in God and cry out to Him - the Lord will send good teachers to get them established.

He is just fulfilling his ministry as being one who exhorts the people. To some this is offensive.

The evangelists can't stand the fact that people are sitting in teaching sessions when there is a lost world out there. The teacher is telling people that they need the word of Christ in order to grow up in Him.

The pastor is trying to tend to the wounded and hurt under his care.

The prophet is seeking out the heart of God and proclaiming it to the people.

The apostle is looking for new areas to establish churches and Christ in the new people there.

Everyone has a function and sometimes we think others should be doing what I am doing because we are so passionate about our calling - so we try to put everyone else into our own box and thus in reality we end up stifling the body of Christ.
