The fact that she teaches at all is the problem. The teaching consists of the common charismatic errors and the Health and Wealth Gospel.

Hey I'm wondering if Joyce Meyer is reading this thread (and my responses in light of 1 Timothy 2), because we got a call today on our Christian Chat number, and on the caller ID it said "Joyce Meyer"! :) If that's you Joyce, feel free to try again and leave a message if there's no answer. I'll be glad to discuss 1 Tim 2 with you. God bless

Ah you guys are gonna love this. Brace yourselves.

Issue 1: Joyce Meyer doesn't believe that Jesus atoned for the sins of God's elect on the cross, but rather the Jesus she believes in had to go to hell and be tormented for 3 days to atone for sin.

“During that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because of our sin (...) He paid the price there. (...) no plan was too extreme (...) Jesus paid on the cross and in hell (...) God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God, “Let Him go.” Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus (...) He was resurrected from the dead ¾ the first born-again man”

(From The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make: A Complete And Thorough Understanding Of What It Means To Be Born Again, 1991, pages 35-36, - Joyce Meyer)

"He was pronounced guilty on the cross but He paid the price in hell."

(What Happened from the Cross to The Throne? audio - Joyce Meyer)

"There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell"

(”The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make”, 1991 pg. 3 - Joyce Meyer)

"God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God, ‘Let Him go.’ Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus. He was resurrected from the dead — the first born-again man.”

(”The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make”, 1991 pg. 36 - Joyce Meyer)

The Truth: 1 Corinthians 15:1 - Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Hebrews 4:15
- For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin.

Colossians 1:19 - For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Issue 2: Joyce Meyer believes she's not a sinner.

I’m going to tell you something folks, I didn’t stop sinning until I finally got it through my thick head I wasn’t a sinner anymore. And the religious world thinks that’s heresy and they want to hang you for it. But the Bible says that I’m righteous and I can’t be righteous and be a sinner at the same time. All I was ever taught to say was, ‘I’m a poor, miserable sinner.’ I am not poor, I am not miserable and I am not a sinner. That is a lie from the pit of hell. That is what I was and if I still am then Jesus died in vain. Amen?”

(What Happened from the Cross to The Throne? audio - Joyce Meyer)

"I might as well go and smack Him right in the face if I’m going to go around and feel guilty and condemned. Every time you feel guilty and condemned it’s just like slapping Him in the face and saying, You didn’t do a good job. You didn’t do a complete job. I’m an old rotten this and I’m an old rotten that.”

(What Happened from the Cross to The Throne? audio - Joyce Meyer)

The Truth: 1 John 1:8 - If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

There are many more issues I have with her, including her lavish lifestyle (owning a private jet worth $10 million, $2 million homes for her and all of her children, other things), and many other false doctrines she holds that are blatantly heretic. She is one of my examples I give people when they say it's ok for a woman to preach.

In contrast, Joel Osteen flies on regular planes (no private jets) and doesn't ask for money on his program. He does sell books, and I personally think the only "self-help" book anyone would ever need is the Bible itself, but he doesn't beg for your money on his program.

Rick Warren paid every dollar he earned in his ministry, plus pledged 90% of his book royalties away, and he also accepts no speaking fees.

To quote Rick Warren: "Success in any area often creates a spirit of entitlement - 'I deserve this' - that is the exact opposite of servant leadership."

Information was gathered by me from a few different websites, and double-checked for accuracy (no, really, not like McDonald's!).

as a sister in Christ, I thiink alot about her, but someone said that she was a pastor of a Church, for this I dislike her bieng a pastor , how is she going to tell her flock to live by the Bible when she herself is not lined up with it.

1ti 3:1This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.1ti 3:2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;1ti 3:3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;1ti 3:4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

I'm sure she wears the pants in her household, does that count? :p

I appreciate Joyce Meyer's teachings, and I believe that she is an anointed minister of the gospel.

Regarding the interpretation of the Pauline scriptures regarding women in leadership, please see my posts in the "No Women Preachers" forum thread.

ok I checked out the web site you suggested, it merely says that they are allowing women to hold leadership roles in this certain denomination because assembies of God has had success in this and that watching the penecostal using woman in leadership roles, that it was obviously that God would bless women in these roles. the pentecostal people also speak unknown tongues, in Church with out an intrepeter, two wrongs don't make a right , cause one Church wants to go against scriptures hhhmm, well we see where it goes against the word of God but the pentecostal do it so it must make it right Wow!!!! The bible warns us that satan can even have his ministers in the pulpit, but this doesn't make it of God.
2co 11:14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.2co 11:15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.2co 11:16I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.2co 11:17That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.2co 11:18Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

Don't misunderstand What I am saying about Joyce or the Pentecostal Church here, I know other denominations that do things that aren't line up with scriptures. I thnk Joyce has a great testimony, I have listen to her myself on TV, before. and that there is enough lady conferences out there to keep her busy for the Lord, and if the ladies wanted to bring their husbands to listen to her, so be it. but A lady shouldn't have authority over man this is clear in scriptures it goes back to when Eve was deceived, When God dealt out to woman for what the first woman did, then He also said that there would pour out sorrow with thy conception, and this has been going on since then but women have brought themselves from under the Rule of their husbands which was also part of the punishment, they have raised themselve either to be equal or even higher than their husbands. and if this is so then it is clear against the Word of God , and someone said that Joyce was like a co-pastor with her husband. Can I get ten people in here to tell me what is Mr. Meyer's name. now there is some churches/ denominations that are ordaining homosexuals as pastors, and most say how can they do that that is clearly against scriptures, but half that are saying that have women pastors at their Churches.

Ge 3:16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

If today's churches have raised themselves above this verse and some others in the New Testament, then some of today's Churches have clearly raised themselves above what God has intended for the Church.
