all generations of English speakers, i guess.

i have this request of KJVO, and that is please open your eyes to the wide world of non-English speakers.

_______________________________________________________________

we have a KJV along with many other English translations (and they're ALL translations). isn't God good to bless us so?

my go to for daily reading? NASB or ESV

It's not about English, it's about the meaning of the phrase being changed. Do you think people who all lived before us, thought oh, we'll hide the truthful scriptures for 1950 years in the dead sea, until someone finds them and makes accurate translations with them. But we'll let the Christians ahead of us burn in hell. I don't think so. Otherwise God His Word for nearly 2000 years just waiting for the NASB, NIV, ESV etc.

I think the new Amplified I got today, is the fastest reading Bible I have so far, even though it's bigger. I think I'll highlight the errors and use this as the main one to read, and refer back to the KJV. Mainly because it also has extra potentially insightful added points that I didn't know, which is nice.

I'm not suggesting people get rid of their Bibles, though people with too many should donate them to worse off people/new believers etc. I'm just suggesting, which one is the one you trust most?

Which Bible do you trust most so far?
As you may not have many?

To find out the best English Bible translation for the daily use (today we have more than thirty versions) read a history of particular translations,You'll learn a lot from the history and ask the Lord to show you which one to use.

I watched a video recently that changed my mind on the type of Bible I should keep as the over-riding bible authority. I have an NIV, ESV, Gideon's new testament, NKJV, KJV and am picking up a n Amplified Holy Bible tomorrow. I will probably use one of the most accurate to the King James, for quick reading, but highlight thereof area's and swap back to KJV. But will try to stick with the old English in the KJV until I get confused.

I watched Pastor Steven L Anderson's, New World Order movie. Just under 2 hours long, very interesting. Puts potentially the NIV, ESV, NKJV and more to shame, depending on version's and errors of course.

So, (1) Have you watched the video? If not,
watch it first, please.

(1b) Did the video change your mind?

(2) What Bible do you support?

(3) Why do you support it?

At the bottom of your post, please put final Bible choice in caps, alone, so it can be seen as a tally. Thanks.

KJV
I'm sitting here trying my best to make sense of anyone saying they want to try to follow the translation that makes the least sense of all of them.

I WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY. I'M NOT TELLING PEOPLE TO GET RID OF YOUR BIBLES. I'm just asking you all, which one do you trust the most? Why?
So far the KJV makes the most sense to me, even though it's old English. It's meanings make more fuller sense to me. Others seem lesser in some way. Or are misrepresenting in some way.

I think AMP is my new favourite speed reading Bible, so I'll use it more often, but highlight where the errors are and check KJV at those points etc. That's all.
Not suggesting anyone throws or changes any of their Bibles, just asking what's the best you know of and why. In capitals at bottom of your posts for all to see. Not asking for a group of translation rantings.
Hope you all understand, thanks, God bless you all Amen.

Ok so thats what you think, but what about those who struggle with the King James and find NIV makes most sense?

If you think it's difficult to understand, it's obviously off-putting to you. But that doesn't mean other translations make more sense. It doesn't mean they're more truthful. It just means the KJV should have a like for like update for easier reading. Though I don't agree with KJV only at present. I'm just asking for why people choose theirs and have they watched a video. That's it really.

I'm not talking about easy to read, I'm talking about most sense. There's a difference. KJV probably should do a like for like update, for easier reading. But should probably keep the same meanings for sense.

Hey Dai3234, I’d just keep in mind that when Anderson is verifying what the Greek actually says is the correct translation, he is doing so from the Textus Receptus (the Greek text that the KJV is based on). However, there are many other (and older) renderings of Greek manuscripts as well. If you are in the KJV only camp, you will only believe that one can translate/study from the Textus Receptus (as would be the case with Anderson).

Many interlinear online sites use older renderings of the Greek for translating that anyone can use for free. I’m not going to spend hours viewing every one of his arguments to see which one is only valid if we were reading from the Textus Receptus, but I’m sure some could be dismissed by the fact that not all bibles use the Textus Receptus as the source of their original translation. Therefore, one could easily use a Textus Receptus manuscript to point out differences.

thank you for responding. i think for Mr. Anderson it is about English, though, don't you?

the Amplified is a paraphrase, just in case you didn't know. :)

(did anyone else think Matrix when they read Mr. Anderson? lol)

*giggles*

i know you use the KJV. i like it at times, too, and i'm surprised at the number of passages stuck in my head in the King James.

my posts aren't intended to offend those of you who prefer the KJV.
i'd just like for us to consider the people of the world who speak Spanish or Portuguese or Sambal.

ya know?
You mean the REAL Bible?

Yes, of course... Doesn't everyone?

Is God limited to speaking through the kjv only? That's a pretty funny thought seeing as the kjv is just a translation.

God doesn't speak Spanish... Sorry... lol thats funny

Fair enough. If you happen to recall any of those incidents they would be worthy of our discussion brother.
Its normally when someone tries to convince Christians that they are still under the law or that they can lose their salvation.

They use translations that seem to support their view.

Again I don't recall the exact translation or the exact passages. They are not true so its hard to remember stuff that is not true.

Dr. White destroyed his KJVO ideology
Using one world order theology obviously...

I just finished 2nd year seminary
Rule number one when studying the Word of God... pay NO attention to anyone that went to seminary.

our prof, who is on the translation committees of the ESV and NIV, had nothing good to say about using KJV today
The NIV (nearly inspired version) is luciferian so if you are listening to this guy you have serious problems that you do not know about yet... but you will.

YES!

haha it was actually my first thought too

& for me that makes this, the umpteenth KJV-only thread of 2017, seem like some of the bizzareness in it is actually appropriate

Well, there are far more errors in these newer translations than in the KJV so it comes down to how much error one wants to put up with.

does that apply everywhere?

when you need to design something, pay no attention to anyone who has been taught engineering?
when you need to bake, you must ignore what anyone who has been to culinary school says?
if you have to calculate a complex measure of something, reject everything a mathematician might say?
never take the advice of anyone with actual medical training when you are ill?

or is it only in the realm of theology, doctrine and the opening of the scriptures that it is of prime importance to utterly reject all that is said by everyone who has formally applied themselves to becoming educated and well-taught in these things, instead each person should rely on their own personal interpretations and whatever random, unaccredited and unsubstantiated things they may discover while randomly browsing youtube for videos that confirm what their own untrained minds were already thinking?

srsly -- universal "rule of thumb" to reject all education, or only in spiritual matters is ignorance the best policy?

Yes. The error being taught in seminaries is apparent when compared with God's Word.

Carnal, man-made religion is not of God and is leading the masses into the coming one world religion where all religions are said to be serving the same god... and sadly, lots of Christians are falling right in to this sort of thing having no discernment.

Education in general is leading the masses away from a personal relationship with God.

really.

so -- i should just cross stuff like this out when i come to in my Bible, because it's leading me away from a relationship with God?

The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge,
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

(Proverbs 18:15)

and who *taught* you this wisdom -- no one?
because you teach yourself that having teachers is evil?

i guess it ought to be more obvious to me that we should avoid, for example, listening to anyone who can teach us to understand Greek, since an educated knowledge of Greek might lead us away from the KJV . . ?

feel like i'm missing something here. maybe i doomed myself by learning so much about logic?
lol.

thank God for family in Him, who can steer me away from the pitfalls of knowledge and understanding.
