You speak about love continually, as though whoever does not see it exactly as you do, cannot know or understand that love is the fulfillment of the law. This self imposed blindness is again on your part alone. The scriptures plainly state that love is the fulfillment of the law, and I have not ever seen anyone on these boards deny that. In your own head you have determined some deny this, simply because they do not agree with your assertion that love fulfilling the law means we no longer need to observe the fourth commandment in relation to the observation of the seventh day. What you determine in your own head, is certainly no authority regarding truth to me or anyone who will acknowledge the scriptures themselves as the final source of authority. Even during the old covenant, God repeatedly stated the motivation for keeping His commandments should be love. Yet you continually insist this is some new knowledge of the new covenant alone.

Ex 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of themthat love me, and keep my commandments.

Le 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD……………………………………………………………………………34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

De 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

De 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

De 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

De 10:12 ¶ And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

De 10:19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

De 11:1 ¶ Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway……………………………………………………….13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day,to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,……………………………..22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

De 19:9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day,to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

De 30:16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it………………………………………….20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Jos 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Ne 5:5 ¶ And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Isa 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. 3 ¶ Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.

Da 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Love has always been pointed out as the prerequisite to proper observance or obedience to the commandments of God. Yet here you are repeatedly demanding that this is a new teaching from the new covenant which nullifies the observance of one of the commandments of God. If it means that now, why didn't it mean it then, when love was pronounced as a priority to the proper keeping of the commandments of God? You have invented this tangled web of a teaching to support your own rejection of one of the commandments of God, it has nothing to do with rightly dividing the word of God.
Strange, the above quote is my original message, which does not all appear in that post.

Why would we ever dream of having to "memorize" them? Is there something we can't grasp about simply treating others right without having a list to check first?

I think a Christian must read Matthew 5 in order to understand what the Law truly requires.

I think a Christian must continually read the bible and pray in order to begin to understand how God wants us to live.

I think Psalm 23 is a better description of how God wants us to live than our poor understanding of the 10 commandments.

Most people see the 10 commandments as something they must fulfill. I guess that's because we are all under it until we come to faith in Christ. Or maybe it should be come to Christ by faith...

Again you folks who claim to keep the law...do not! Those who love as the New Covenant clearly commands fulfills all the law in one word....so who is really obedient ...those who claim to keep the law or those who actually fulfill all the law?

This is not hard to figure out for any honest person....anyone who claims to keep the law is lying!

=================================================

Willie,

for myself and my wife, memorization of scriptures is a very comforting thing
and something that gives us so much pleasure, especially when we decide to
speak them out loud together in different places at any given time, we just
seem to know when to speak His Word and of course we know how it makes
us feel to repeat our special favourite verses together -
it brings us joy and confirms our love of Yah's Word

it is written, 'in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God'.

so, if we memorize what is literally God, we have a piece of Him that becomes a part of us,
and we rejoice in this !
the more of His Soul and identity that we can put inside of ourselves, the closer we come to Him -
it is a great and wonderful comfort.

I John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

23: And this is His commandment, [Pay Attention HERE, The Apostle John is about to plainly tell us what His Commandments are] That we should 1) believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and 2) love one another, as He gave us commandment.

There you have it. Believe in Jesus and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, do those two things and you fulfill ALL the LAW. But woe to those who FAIL to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

now, if only we could live on bread alone, on just one or two verses, and ignore the rest......

nope, not gonna happen.

EVERY WORD that proceeds from the mouth of YAHWEH. not one without the others, and not at all

in contradiction. remember JESUS HIMSELF said .... "man shall live by EVERY WORD from the mouth

of YAHWEH ..."

and even if he had not said so, there's all the other word in which he tells yahweh's way, and it includes

what men do not want it to include; and yahweh is swayed to drop any of his words.....

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on ...

biblehub.com/matthew/4-4.htm‎

But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD
ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF
GOD ...

If the above were all Jesus or the bible had to say about the matter, then that would be the end of it, but anyone who will read the scriptures for themselves will see that this is not the case. It is the truth to say that Christ and others taught that love is the fulfillment of the law in the New Testament. It is a lie to insinuate that by this statement of truth they intended in any way shape or form to nullify the authority of any of the ten commandments of God. They simply did no such thing. In fact, they did just the opposite.

Which one of you could stand today before God, guiltless and forgiven of your sins, without the sacrifice of Jesus Christ atoning for the same? You could not, you cannot, and you never will be able to this side of heaven. You and I and all would stand condemned today by the authority of God's law but for the sacrifice of Christ. You have been delivered from the condemnation of the law in Christ, which deliverance would not even be necessary if the law of God no longer had any authority. To this day, if you will not confess your sins and seek God's forgiveness through Christ you will perish. How say some, the law of God no longer stands?

1Jo 1:8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
2:1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
