Read all of Wigglesworth stuff ages ago, for a while I used to think that God would heal anyone if I had enough faith. I have changed over the years, I still believe a person can be healed, I have been healed myself, however I learned not to base my faith in God on what I believed God should do, that is very dangerous, I have faith in God regardless of what happens simply because I believe in God.

"He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”" Luke 10:18-20

Once again, JP has pulled a verse out of context. The whole purpose of this passage was to do what? Rejoice that you have power of the enemy? Not at all. Read the next line.

Rejoice that your names are written in heaven! Hallelujah! That is what really matters!

Both statements that Jesus made are true. Nothing has been pulled out of context. We have "been given authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you" And we rejoice in the fact that Jesus has saved us and our names are recorded in heaven.

The truth is He will deliver us from all evil and we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. He who watches over us neither slumbers nor sleeps. We can have confidence in the fact that He is for us and not against us. He is our Good Shepherd who gave His life for His sheep.

[h=3]Psalm 23[/h][h=4]A Psalm of David.[/h][SUP]1 [/SUP]The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [SUP][a][/SUP]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

These promises are not only for when we are in heaven but most of these promises are for now while we are here and need His protection and guidance and watch care. We need feeding and water. There are no enemies to be protected from in heaven.

Where it's clear many Christians only believe the promises are for when we go to heaven, many of us Christians believe they are also for our time here on earth where we are in the battle and fight the good fight of faith. Here is where we need to remember the promises. Where we need to grow in the faith and we have to hear the Word of God to do that. Because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

We have the Holy Spirit to comfort, teach and guide us into all truth. In heaven we will not have to walk by faith and not by sight. We will not need to have to be transformed by the renewing of our minds because we will be in our glorified bodies. All these promises and encouragements are for the believer to use now. To claim now while here on earth in the middle of the good fight of faith.

So these are encouragements meant to help and uphold us in times of fear and doubt. He knows our frame that we are but dust and He has made provision for us. So instead of some Christians teaching we can't believe the promises, we should be encouraging each other that we can most certainly and we must believe the promises above our experiences.

While we can encourage each other with our experiences., we first must learn what the Bible says and then believe what the Bible says. Always respect other people and what they are going through but before that, know what the Bible says and lean on that as our standard. "Trust in the Lord will all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths"

I also want to add along those lines of God always seeking to encourage and look out for us, I and many other believers are looking for the appearing of Jesus as described in 1 Thess.4:13-18 We have been given this promise because He does not want us to be uninformed or without hope here.

And we are to be comforted by one another with these words in the Bible as we remind ourselves and each other. But many don't believe this either. The "rapture" is not believed by all Christians., And that's ok if it's your particular interpretation but as for me and many others, we believe in His returning for us the church. Many believers are missing out on the encouragement of looking for Jesus coming.
We don't have to always agree but we should by all means respect each other despite our differences. We are all under the blood who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior.

[h=1]1 Thessalonians 4:13-18American Standard Version (ASV)[/h] [SUP]13 [/SUP]But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

[SUP]14 [/SUP]For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep [SUP][a][/SUP]in Jesus will God bring with him.

[SUP]15 [/SUP]For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the [SUP][b][/SUP]coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.
[SUP]
16 [/SUP]For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

[SUP]17 [/SUP]then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

[SUP]18 [/SUP]Wherefore [SUP][c][/SUP]comfort one another with these words.

Joidevivre., yes dear suffering sister in Jesus., even in knowing your situation and what you are going through. We not only learn from the Bible, we also learn by the circumstances living here on earth exposes us to., and He walks through them with us as He keeps beckoning us all along the way to believe Him anyway in spite of them.

My dearest friend Barbara was shockingly diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago. She is many times of my day my biggest reality. What she is going through, how she feels and what she struggles with., and my seeing it so closely is another challenge to my eyes and senses as I help care for her and do baths and am intimately aware of her suffering. The changes her body is showing and her breathing has totally changed.

These are real changes and they also match up with the rest of the things I've seen in my life that were impossible to refute in the face of faith in the Word. Yet I must refute them daily as I read the promises He has shown in His Word. What do these promises mean for us? How can we dare hold on to them when our lives are hurting? Did He mean for us to? Yes, I believe with all my heart He means for us to hold on to them and Him in the face of these tribulations.

Psalm 91 is an impossible chapter to hold on to today for many believers. I've read it and thought how can 1,000 fall at my side and 10,000 at my right hand and have it NOT approach me? The only answer is learning how to believe and walk by faith even in the middle of it all.

This learning takes the very personal and private walking in and through this world. And the truths about the 10 fold and the 20 fold and the 50 and 69.9 fold and the 90 fold up to the 100 fold faith and healing. It's a walk taken one step at a time personally for each one of us.

So each one of us is walking it on our own (humanly speaking) and often alone without the human strength of and even encouragement others. Yet we have to walk it because He calls us to walk it. Even if no one follows or agrees.

Psalm 91American Standard Version (ASV)

Security of him who trusts in Jehovah.

91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
[SUP][a][/SUP]Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in whom I trust.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]He will cover thee with his pinions,
And under his wings shalt thou take refuge:
His truth is a shield and a buckler.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night,
Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]For the pestilence that walketh in darkness,
Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
[SUP]
7 [/SUP]A thousand shall fall at thy side,
And ten thousand at thy right hand;
But it shall not come nigh thee.
[SUP]
8 [/SUP]Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold,
And see the reward of the wicked.
[SUP]
9 [/SUP][SUP][b][/SUP]For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge!
Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;
[SUP]
10 [/SUP]There shall no evil befall thee,
Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
[SUP]
11 [/SUP]For he will give his angels charge over thee,
To keep thee in all thy ways.
[SUP]
12 [/SUP]They shall bear thee up in their hands,
Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
[SUP]
13 [/SUP]Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:
The young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under foot.
[SUP]
14 [/SUP]Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
[SUP]
15 [/SUP]He shall call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble:
I will deliver him, and honor him.
[SUP]
16 [/SUP]With long life will I satisfy him,
And show him my salvation.

So like I pray for my dearest and best friend Barbara, I pray for you Jodevivre. Knowing only some of the suffering and some of the questions you also must be walking out. It overwhelms and intertwines our senses. Sometimes resting is the only way to get through the next few hours. But like you wrote here, they are for a season. Am praying for you sister.
That PS is conditional.

Verses 1&14 are the conditions to receive the promise

Wigglesworth was a pit bull in the spirit. He would continue where you and I would give up. You missed the secret of his success.

Many,many times the answer would NOT come.

Wigglesworth would then change his prayer. Now he prayed for the OBSTACLE to be revealed.

He said he was too dumb to disobey. He would then do WHATEVER the HS told him. That is why he would jerk a man out of a coffin,hit a woman in the gut,and kick a baby from the platform. (then beyond the gasps of the crowds all of them were restored)

I counseled with a black pastor once a long time ago. He changed my life. His name was Crenshaw. We did not know each other.

He told me 2 things. From his wisdom and experience.

1) "you got to get "over" people,I did a long time ago."

2) "your trials are actually the source of your blessing."

Man,that was about 17 years ago. What a mighty word that man gave me.

He said" David,when you see that van parked outside,I am here. You can come by anytime"

Some of you people aren't quite right in the head.

Yep He has a way of doing that to anyone divorcing this world and getting blown out for Jesus.

You biggest attackers will be from believers

Many times Wigglesworth would pray all night,a l l n I g h t. Only to see the person get worse. But then something would happen...

I have seen this a couple times.

I call it "the breaker" anointing. It is mat 18:18&19.

We give up way too soon,then mislabel our failure with stuff we literally make up in our minds.

Amen...Jesus said it this way. "Which is easier to say "Your sins are forgiven you or rise up and walk?"

Matthew 9:4-6 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?

[SUP]5 [/SUP] "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, and walk'?

[SUP]6 [/SUP] "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—then He *said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your bed and go home."

Good posts and very encouraging. I don't understand the kind of personality Smith Wigglesworth has but do know God uses each of us with our varied quirky ways. We DO try to seek out people who are like us but that doesn't always happen. :eek: Getting together with others can be a mess because we are human with or own personal set of quirks. Depending on whether we decide to look at each other with the love Jesus sees us with will determine how much judging goes on.

Lord please help me to always love my brothers and sisters in Christ who are different from me so as not to allow the enemy to bring division and get a strong hold in this place. In Jesus name, Amen!
