Elect: precept upon precept John 17:9King James Version (KJV)9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. Why did Jesus say this if He died for the world ?
John 17:9 has little to do with John 3:17

Many christians believe that it is a sin to pray that God destroy their enemies or in other word to kill them

I am of the view there are times when you must pray against your enemies that God will destroy them from the face of the earth or get them sick etc

What sayesth thou CC ?
I'm all for the complete eradication our enemies, but we must first know who or what that is. We battle not flesh and blood.

Sorry I don't use scripture to prove a point, scripture is very sacred and holy and I will not use it to prove my point. If you want the proof you seek read the gospels and see how Jesus acted and reacted to his enemies who crucified him

Once again, in case you fail to see my other, longer post on the subject of your incredible distortion of the truth of the need to use God's Word in everything - all that we think say, and do.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [SUP]17 [/SUP]that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Memorize it Blain and live it, and there may be hope for you yet.

As much as I wish that could happen, but if that were to be the case then you and/or I could be considered enemies of God and he would set out to destroy us too. I mean, enemies of God are not to be tolerated as you stated. The gate is pretty narrow as well.

But nope. While we're alive, we're given that mercy and that includes the very people who hate God within every fiber of their being. The imperfect as well, which is every one of us. -sighs- I can't even tolerate myself sometimes.

You want that the Lord should destroy our 3 enemies: The world, the flesh, & the devil?

In His time the world and the devil will suffer destruction.
Already we have overcome the world for Christ has overcome it.
The flesh has suffered crucifixion, but not non-existence yet.
The Old Man waxes corrupt and will ever be giving his opinion in this life.

Walk by the Spirit, & you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

I am against physical battle but the bible does not say that asking God to turn people actions into foolishness is sin

Nice to see some reality. I've always thought the Christian faith was a bit soft.. so it's refreshing to see this. I know if I was religious I would pray for the demise of all my enemies.

[h=1]Jeremiah 18:18-23King James Version (KJV)[/h]18 Then said they, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
19 Give heed to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23 Yet, Lord, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

:) true but we have to be realistic here and be honest with ourselves about the world we live in and the enemy we stand against. Now praying for the destruction of your fellow man. I think we need to think more on the lines of protection.
Understanding. Father guide me past this situation that im in give me wisdom to overcoming all oppression, for no weapon formed against me shall prosper

One does not have to ask the Lord to destroy

His enemies are the same .... and He will [Jude 1:14-25] ..... in one, way or another

We are call to pray that our enemies will know the love of Jesus. And to show them Kindness and forgiveness. I like the quote "killing with kindness it drives them crazy" lol

[h=1]Isaiah 26:10King James Version (KJV)[/h]10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.

What sayesth thou CC ?
A new authority comes into the church at the beginning of the Great Tribulation which will give Christians that very authority to bring judgement upon the wicked (as well as the usual charismatic gifts of healings and deliverance), for God will show that He is not only a God of Love, but of righteous judgement to and also so that the Church will out-miracle the occults and Antichrist's followers! Matt 24v15-21,24, Luke 18v1-8, Acts 2v16-21, 2Thess 2v1-12, Rev 11v3-6, 13v11-18

However, that new authority will only be given to the Church at the beginning of the Great Tribulation, when the Mystery of Iniquity will work fully, because of the terrible darkness that will be upon the earth at that time. 2Thess 2v1-12.
