Exactly! That's why we know the woman in the video you so helpfully posted was out of order.

Unfortunately, many people do operate the manifestations incorrectly. Also unfortunately, those are the ones that make it to youtube.

Sleep well.

Good evening, zone.

17 REASONS WHY I LEFT THE TONGUES MOVEMENT
BY ALFRED H. POHL

I LEFT THE TONGUES MOVEMENT BECAUSE OF:
You DON'T have sincere convictions regarding your beliefs??? Hardly...
Any doctrine of holy spirit that does not include the manifestations is unsound.
Yes, all the manifestations are important. Tongues is specifically meant to edify you spiritually.

I don't know where he went to church, but God and Jesus Christ should assuredly be the center of doctrine. Without Christ, nobody could be born again.

Experience is no guarantee for truth. Everything must be weighed against God's Word.

The gift of holy spirit does not have a personality.

Same could be said for any group. Even cessationists.

Tongues is a sign that a person is born again. Many born again Christians never speak in tongues because they have never been taught what it is.

Yes, we are not to seek signs. But "I would that ye all spake with tongues".

Yes, unfortunately there are many people who use tongues incorrectly. Strangeloves video is an example.

If something is not aligning with God's Word, it is wrong. Proper use of the manifestations will line up with the bible. This is why we know certain posters on this form are not what they claim.

The Corinthian church was NOT a model church. Not sure where your author got this idea.

Tongues with interpretation or the manifestation of prophesy will never give "extra biblical" revelation.

As I noted above, faith and practice must always line up with the bible. If it doesn't, it's wrong.

If your leaders are saying things contrary to the bible, they should indeed be questioned. Like the author of this book, for example.

He's out to lunch on this one.

Many people distort what a spirit-filled life is. Including some charismatics. And all cessationists.

He's wrong on that... Tongues is seen as anathema to most "normal" Christians. I don't think there's much danger of it taking over the world. But I can pray about it.

If you're a cessationist, those books will confirm what you already believe. If you're searching for truth, avoid them.

He confirms what you believe, zone. You're both wrong.

Well I see we have many self rightous folks tonight and on that note
correct me if I am wrong but when tongues are spoken is it not also translated immediately by others in the congregation so that those who are not in the spirit and are present also understand the glory of God as a testament to the glory of God

Yes you are wrong. We can pray in the spirit all day. Alone with no one around us. The only time it is translated by someone is when the Spirit has prompted a person to speak in the tongues for a message. Praying in the spirit where others who don't understand about it so they can want it.

Where do all these unbelievers come from??

hey Muskokaman

they were gentile languages.
miraculously enabled to speak them FOR THE GOING FORTH OF THE GOSPEL.
if there was no interpreter of that gentile language in house, they weren't to bother speaking what God was revealing - no one would understand.

but that's all historical. those gifts ceased as soon as God had finished revealing the full NT.

but only cessationists believe that (the ENTIRE CHRISTIAN church for 1900 years).

love ya

Do you have any examples of correct manifestation of tongues?

Can you show us?

We'll analyze the difference ok?

This statement is contradictory.

You say tongues is a sign that a person is born again.

Then you say many born again Christians never speak in tongues.

It doesnt make sense.

By the way, anyone can speak gibberish, even a baby....its not a gift...or a manifestation of the Holy Spirit..or whatever you wanna call it...its GIBBERISH and its the ancient heresy of MONTANISM.

Pentacostals do it becuase they mimic others in their church. its mob pressure

In first Corrinthians 14:2-13 Paul explains that it is better to bring edification (understanding) to the church than to speak in an unknown tongue without interptreting. and in vs 19 he says "Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
In vs 22 he says "Wherefore tongues are for a sign not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them that believe. And in vs 27-28 "If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or at the most by three, and that by course and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God"

He performs His Commission by convicting men of sin, and convincing them that Jesus Christ is Saviour and Lord, God manifest in the flesh.

He regenerates and indwells the saved man, being the earnest, or downpayment of the christian's future inheritence - GLORIFICATION and ETERNITY with God.

He carries us, grooms and guides, and reproves, and rebukes, and comforts and teaches and testifies of Jesus.

He quickens the mind and spirit when the scriptures are taught, feeding the believer.

He makes intercession for us to God when we are unable.

He spreads the Agape of God in our hearts, that spirit of adoption as sons, so we may call on our Daddy.

He testifies that we are in the presence of the brethren, and He promotes unity always and only ever based on God's Truth.

He enables us to preach Christ Crucified.

He is God The Holy Spirit.
