P_R and Greenie,

You both are saying the same thing, but in different words and understandings. The most important thing Jesus came to do was to fulfill God's will and that will was that He should die for His sheep.

God's will = Salvation
Jesus' fulfillment = Salvation

Everything about Jesus spells salvation.....
Jesus giving glory to God is not the most important thing Jesus came to do.

Jesus dying on the cross for my sins so I can be with Him after I die IS the most important thing, and, yes, He was following His Father's will.

OK, cee, that's what's being said :)

Hey,cee, just saying, for me, it was not a personal thing that Jesus came to do anything for me by giving glory to His Father; that showed how Jesus was showing HImself as acting straight on behalf of God's will and at any time Jesus could have done His own will because , well, He was God, God's will could be Jesus' will because Jesus is God , right :)

But, yeah, Jesus dying on the cross for my sins so I can one day be with Him , yep, that's it, for me.

I didn't confuse you toooo muich more did I , bro :D

Having thought about it,

I would have to agree, Greenie, the most important thing Jesus came to do was to deliver salvation through faith in Him.

Having read John 17 several times,

I would have to say that Jesus is saying that He glorified (rendered glorious) the Father while He was on Earth. And, in having done this, He is asking the Father to glorify Him (render glorious) so that by such, the Son could have also glorified the Father, in that He, having been glorified, could prove His glorification of the Father.

I do not see this as the purpose of Him having came, but that, in having came, He did render the Father glorious by the Message He came to have delivered: salvation by faith. By such, we praise God, nay, Abba, glorifying Him in His mercy.

Amen, cee.

Salvation by faith in Him, belief in Him, that's the most important thing I see Jesus having done, and, bringing us back to right relationship with Him through the Son Of God dying on the cross that was how God brought us back to a right relationship with Him, Christ our propititation for our sins, which before Christ's sacrifice we were all an 'enemy of God.'

Romans 5
9Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10For if while we were enemies (of God)we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

A couple of thoughts.............one is, that you might really study John 17 a wee bit more........and the other is:

There is NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT than Glorifying God! Are you forgetting the Greatest Commandment?

Yes, it's wonderful that Jesus established God's Salvation Plan for all mankind, and gave us a way to be worthy of being called His children, but Glorifying God is JOB ONE!

"to God be the glory.................in all things put God first...........there is none good but God........" And on, and on, and on........If we are not glorifying God, then of what value IS our salvation?

Dunno, I think I'll go with Jesus on this one guys........... :):)

God bless and keep you........

Yes, I agree, we are to glorify God, to Love God with all our heart soul mind body ,this is the greatest commandment, and, the 2nd is like the first: Love your neighbors as yourself. Of these TWO, all the other commandments 'hang.'
Right, Pblankrehbein :)

But ;)

----------------------------

But, this thread title of cee's is speaking of what is the MOST important thing JESUS came to do, NOT me . It's not about me, LOL, sorry, little humor there, and, emphasize the 'little.' :D

But, yeah, this thread is not about what I am here to do, which is ABSOLUTELY just as you say: Love God #1 in my life. Amen ! I completely unequivocally aqree :) But :)

But , this thread is about what Jesus did when came to Earth and the most important thing He did was FOR ME , FOR US, bro, and, it was DYING on that cross so you, and, I, and, EVERYONE ever born--Christian, non-Christian-- in the world , every soul that hath breath from God above given to live on planet Earth MIGHT HAVE LIFE :)

We have to CHOOSE salvation, we have to choose Christ, but it's there , at the ready, not something unreachable, like it WAS for the time in the New Testament when there was NO going to be with the Father. That time did not come until Christ GAVE us Salvation through His death on the cross, thanks to His Father, God, who made this all possible and in so doing reconciled us back to right relationship with Him. :)

Eternal life, for us, THAT is the most important thing that Jesus came to do on planet Earth ,what God came to do ;) What the Holy Spirit came to do, too :)

again.............again............

John 17:1) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 .) As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 .) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 .) I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Ok, I seriously need a cup of coffee..............and a couple of Ibufixmyheads............

OK, have it your way, then, I'm just answering the question as cee stated it, pbro, again, again, and, again, I say, rejoice in the fact that you HAVE salvation, that is what Christ gave you. He didn't come to give YOU GLORY, did He ?

Jeeesus, Jeeeeee-sus , be Thou glorified . Sing it , brother :)

But, salvation is what Jesus came to Earth to do that was most important for me.

It is a given that I am to bring all glory to God , it is a given that Jesus' authority on EArth came from His Father in heaven.

Not sure where the head hurt is coming from , the Lord leads, and, He came to save sinners from DEATH by His DEATH on that cross. I don't really see where the problem is . This is what Christ came to do, to show us "the way" Home, which took on many forms, as bananananapie aptly stated many of the works on Earth Christ did, which ended with the climactic point of Jesus' willfully dying on a cross that He did not deserve to die on but did for you and I, so we could have ETERNAL LIFE and NOT perish . The veil was ripped, brother, FOREVERMORE :)

"For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever (anyone) believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 :)

headhurt is just joking..........no smileycons for that.......

I don't want it "my way," I want it God's way.......just saying......

One final comment and then I will leave this thread alone, and please know that everyone is surely right to believe as they wish, and not forced to accept my thoughts.......just saying....

FOR ME: I must ask; "How did Jesus Glorify God?" Answer: By establishing God's Salvation Plan for all mankind.....John 3:16 being that plan.............Question: If Jesus had not Glorified God, would there be a Salvation Plan? Answer: Not in my mind.

ERGO: If Jesus does not Glorify God by establishing His Salvation Plan for all mankind here on earth (John 3:16), then we are ALL hopelessly LOST for eternity.................Thus, I must conclude, that the most important thing Jesus did here on earth was to Glorify God, and thereby God's Salvation Plan is there for all mankind to accept or deny.

God bless ya Brother.......

It's a given that Jesus was going to glorify Himself, "it is written," it is FULLY KNOWN, before Jesus came to Earth exactly what Jesus would do. Prophecy foretells this long before Jesus was born, like, in the beginning (Gen. 3 judgment of Satan head getting 'crushed'), pblankrehbein, brother. :)

But, I see what is being said, I will leave it at that, God bless, too, bro :)
