I kinda just check out and quit reading once I see someone putting a spirit behind everything and everyone. That dang ol' Jezebel spirit's at it again.
John MacArthur isn't about to be Jehoshaphat compromising with Ahab. But there are always those false prophets who want them to stoop to doing just that, and if they don't they're castigated. Don't these people realize exactly what and who they are reflecting in Scripture when they behave the exact same way? They think they will escape the judgment of God when they practice the same exact things? Nothing new under the Sun.

The only difference is that tongues in the bible were understood spoken human languages proclaiming the glory of God, not incoherent babbling that serves absolutely no purpose other than puffing up the one who thinks he is more spiritual.
Yep, tongues are known languages. Thanks to the KJV many have made the word into something it isn't.

This hits a nerve for me,perhaps I shouldn't comment at all. But I feel I should warn people. Not only did I see this in my travels but I experienced this first hand when I lived in Canada. The "Toronto Blessing" came to my church. The pastor there was whole hog for it. Of course its a way to generate excitement in church. And it did.People came from miles around. I cant tell you the things I saw. There was "being drunk" as in the video where they fell all over you and on to the floor. Then there was "laughing in the spirit" so mix those together. Then there was "birthing in the spirit" where they would lay on the floor and act like they were birthing a baby. The pastor who I knew all my life, encouraged all of this. We didn't get the gold in the teeth, feathers from the rafters but we got a good dose. We were gonna have us a super church. Big shiny one like in the States. I knew that was the motivation.I sang in front of this crowd and if you've ever seen the movie "Jumangi" that would about explain it. One side of the church looked like they had lost their flippin minds and the other side,my side, sat in stunned silence looking at the mayhem taking over the church. It looked quite funny, looking down at the two sides. Funny except for the fact that my aunt had taken stomach cancer, she had to have her stomach removed and then another sweet sister in the church took cancer at the same time. So while the church was trying to pray and believe as my aunt fell more ill this nonsense swirled on around us. My aunt fell more and more ill and she was at the point of deaths door. And every Sunday we had to face a literal zoo of people falling on top of each other, line dancing, birthing while my aunt was dying. She died at the age of 43. While these morons were laughing their brains out and dancing like we were in a nightclub getting their blessings my aunt was dying and another saint struggled for her life. There were no prayers, encouragement just one big ol' party every Sunday. One lady said laughing her butt of that she "wasn't even saved" To say we were outraged is an understatement. Please dont tell me these buffoons are in the "spirit" trust me,they are not!! That pastor left,we helped him along, and all the "spirit" left with him. He went to a church on another part of the country and every one of these people left. None of them stayed.I wonder why? As someone who has faced this foolishness, this "spirit" is not from the Lord. Not even close. When you are so out of your head that you scare Pentecostals there's somethin wrong with you!!
Hi Kayla,

I'm ashamed to admit that I was a part of this
crazy third wave movement or whatever others want to call it.

First our pastor had a handful of us watch Rodney Howard Browne videos acting drunk and laughing with others doing the same and falling on the floor. Then they had a special speaker come in to kind of prepare us for what was about to come upon us.

Then the pastor and a couple leaders went to England to experience what was going on over there and brought it back with them.

It was so awful and my husband and I were deceived to go along with what was going on.

Some of the England group came over and were doing crazy antics in front of the church that was suppose to have been brought on by the Holy Spirit. Many sat down and laughed as if they were being entertained.

People were making noises like animal calls or whatever and others were laughing and falling on the floor. Some looked like they were having an epileptic fit.

One woman, after she went down under the "so-called" spirit told me afterwards that she was down for about 30 minutes and couldn't get up. She felt a weight on her pushing her down and she got really scared. That was the wake-up call for her, but also for me that shocked me out of the deception I was in, realizing something was seriously wrong and this wasn't God.

When you went up for prayer all that was said was more Lord, more Lord and that was it. All everyone wanted was more of the craziness, no one was being prayed for for real life issues like healing, jobs, marriages, etc.

We had false prophecies happening and no one seemed to think they needed to judge them. Things that were said never came to pass.

I get a sick feeling every time I think about that awful experience. The worse part is the thought that we and others were so easily deceived.

I asked myself why this happened to me and others. I spoke to another friend who was involved in it. She said that many we're so thirsty for experiencing the gifts of the Spirit.

I think part of it is that you don't want to be the whistle blower when everyone else is going along with it and you want to believe that your pastor and leaders know what they're doing.

I've learned from Paul to prove all things......see if they're genuine before you go along with anything. And Paul commended the Bereans for searching the scriptures to see if what Paul was telling them was true or not. So that's what I do now.

Making things happen in the flesh is not the Spirit and we invite the enemy in and give him place. Satan's very happy to come in to deceive us all and will show false signs and wonders.

So I really don't like associating with the Charismatic name even though we believe in the gifts for today. Maybe we're conservative Charismatics if that's even possible. :) Just not the word of faith or prosperity gospel type. Our church wasn't that type of Charismatic group.

Thanks for sharing your story. We all need to be warned and need to discern what's of the Lord and what isn't.

The Toronto Blasphemy is Gods judgment and that is a fact. Thank God for the solid churches that didn't fall for this nonsense. Thank God for those that are sound in doctrine, and aren't tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. I hope and pray God saves more people out of that tragic nonsense and deception!

Thanks for sharing this experience, and I'm sorry you and your aunt had to go through the spiritual abuse at the hands of people like this.

I just realized I wrote a wall of text. That is how upset it still makes me. It happened years ago but I honestly still dream about it. I miss my aunt but she is in a better place than I am right now.

I believe the gifts of the holy spirit are still for today, but not the way it's done in the video, of course pentecostal is just a word to say I believe in manifestation of the holy spirit today and I said so on your thread.
No I dont believe in the way its done in the video,to me its a mockery. And as I said,I saw it first hand.No one will convince me that was of God.

It wasn't too long. I'm sure it was pretty shocking and maybe even traumatizing. I hope others read your post and take note.

I'm curious how it first started in your church. Was it something that happened very rapidly and everyone just seemed to go along with it? Like a mass hysteria? Or did it happen gradually? It's just weird to hear these stories of it infiltrating churches. It seems to happen fast in most cases.

One thing I found interesting about your experience was the person who felt the weight on them. This is a common feeling in something known as sleep paralysis where a person wakes up terrified with a feeling of something weighing down on them, usually their chest, and a sense of something in the room with them. Sometimes people even see things on top of them or in the room with them. I dunno if there is a connection, but I thought that was interesting.

Wow
I watched the vid presented in the op . My mind is blown? I won't go into how or why these folks are wrong here, it has been covered . What I will talk about is how can we defend them ? Folks talk about not wanting to acuse the pastor or the church congregation. What about the injuries inflicted on those seeking Christ . With this type of behavior from anyone.
I currently work with alcoholics and addicts to help them get back onto their feet. One of the first things I do is to get them into a good Christ centered church congregation. Can anyone in their right mind recommend any of the mentioned church groups to a recovering alcoholic or addict ? What do we tell a recovering brother or sister in Christ about doing a holy joint or about being drunk in the spirit? Sorry you should not go to this church because you can't hold spirit or you can't go because you bogart the spirit ? Come on sometimes we need to call it what it is so that others won't be damaged by this . More importantly to maintain the integrity of the church that belongs not to us but Christ .
Blessings
Bill

I believe these folks are experiencing a spirit and they believe it is God, but it obviously is not God. The scary part is that a false spirit can give a person a spiritual high feeling so they think that it has to be God and they do not think they need to check it out with the bible.

You do realize you're speaking to a moderator, don't you? He deserves respect, not just because he's a moderator, but because he's a fellow human being and a fellow Christian....but also especially because he's a moderator and can boot you out of here.
I said this in a post...

I couldn't give two shakes what he said in the above. To endorse this movement is horrible. Smoking weed in the Spirit? Blasphemy.
To which Brother CS1 asked...

hey Soverigngrace

could you please provide me the proof of your statement please " To endorse this movement is horrible. Smoking weed in the Spirit? Blasphemy."
This is where Brother P4T said...

Soooo...you are unable to discern "smoking marijuana in the Spirit" as blasphemous? WOW!
If Brother CS1 had watched the video in the OP, he would not have asked me what he did, Brother P4T would not have said what he did, &c.

However, Brother P4T did offer an apology...

Thank God you're on track here, I feared your prior questioning. My apologies. :)
Then CS1 gave a gracious answer...

if you weren't so judgmental and could have given one the benefit of the doubt as to not seeing what the person had seen and wanting to get confirmation. This is why one should be slow to speak and fast to listen.

Then Brother P4T responded by saying...

If you practiced the same you'd see I've apologized already. ;)
Now, this is Brother CS1's response to Brother P4T's apology...

I am glad I meet your approval I would not be able to sleep at night knowing I did not....

So, after Brother P4T apologized to Brother CS1, he keep insulting him, bullying him, &c.

Not taking sides, though I do love Brother P4T to pieces, just calling it as I see it. There's the evidence in front of you Sissy.

The Holy Spirit's ministry to bring glory to God and testify of Jesus, in love. I see none in all of that chaos.

Ephesians 4:1-3 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,
2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I Corinthians 14:1-3 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. 2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

Colossians 1:7-8 He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf 8 and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.

Romans 15:30 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,

I see no peace of love in that chaos, no testifying of Jesus and no bringing of truth.

I John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

I John 5:6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

What I find interesting is that it is eastern mysticism at the source, cleverly
disguised so that it does not fall under the I Timothy description, because eastern mysticism does fall under it, their leaders do not marry and they have restrictions of foods. But the real question is, how does it testify of Jesus and/or relay the wondrous works of God? I thing to remember is a lie id not all false it has to have truth mixed in to make it believable to the uninformed.Genesis 3:1-3 He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You[a] shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’

Tried to edit last part with this.

Genesis 3:1-3 He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’

That was a twisted and unlearned version of what God said.

Genesis 2:16-17
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

Ya know I was thinking about something Church congregations are like clocks . The broken ones are right at times but more often they are not . They give the wrong information, and without a working clock you will not know when it is wrong .

It's a satanic spirit. My satanist father done this to me once. The spirit can't enter you without permission and it gives you a false sense of feeling 'great'.Pretty sure that's how a lot of satanic rituals are.I heard a voice. It made me fall into my knees to worship it.Then your under control of this spirit as you roll around acting like an animal.Even when the fear hits you,it will control you into thinking your having this great feeling.Kundalina awakening crap.

The people in the churches are liken to Rahab who ends up saved by the scarlet rope(the blood of Jesus)when the two spies(The Two Witnesses)/(Remnant)are hidden under the stalks of flax as they are helped into hiding by Rahab, who asks to be spared and all of those who are hers. They say "our lives for yours".And that's where they are to this day. That's what the bible says right?.
It's all symbolic. The Two spies are Two Witnesses, who are also the remnant that made it out of Egypt.Flax was used to strengthen bricks used for walls and building roads. The word of the Lord is like a wall surrounding the temple as protection to keep the enemy out.
See the symbolism? The two witnesses hiding under stalk of flax are symbolic of them strengthening the walls of New Jerusalem.
There is nothing new under the sun.

Or are the things taking place in this video with Bill Johnson, Todd Bentley and others of their ilk "of God?"
Nope... not of God, at least not the Bible.

The god of this world is quite pleased with all this stuff tho...

http://yoursmiles.org/tsmile/demon/t1434.gif

I believe in manifestation of the holy spirit in various forms, but they always bring repentance and a sense of humility before a holy God
Thank you!

Here is a short video showing Bill Johnson talking about trusting God. You judge for yourself about the spirit behind this man
Sadly, there are serious problems with his doctrine that is extra biblical such as the dominionism stuff and kundalini devil stuff, etc,

Some to satan's very best deception looks and sounds authentic and uses lots of scripture and encourages people to do good things... but underneath the hood the engine driving it is demonic

We have witches comes to our meetings
They do. There was one witch that had a Youtube video where she did not tell them she was a witch and when they prayed for her several church leaders told her the Lord had a word for her and it was that the Lord apprecited her faith and all the wonderful things she was doing for the Lord.

She was there to see if she could get physical healing and was not a believer... she was a practicing witch and the people that prayed for her could not even tell... serious lack of discernment.

A little searching on Youtbe will bring this up if anyone is inteerested in watching it.

John MacAuther is a false teacher in the ditch on the other side... he is a cessasionist and is to be avoided due to not adhering to sound doctrine.

Smoking weed in the Spirit? Blasphemy.
Yeah, it gets worse than that...many that adhere to false grace smoke the weed in real life.

OSAS teaching gives people the idea they can live after the flesh and not die inspite of Romans 8 telling us if we live after the flesh we WILL die... There are some on this board that drink booze claiming to be Christians. God will judge.

That was written to Christians since those that have not been born again are already in the flesh and need not be warned about dying since they are already spiritually dead.

Here is the same brother speaking about sexual sin
False "brother"... one of satan's very best ear tickling deceivers!
