Then was Paul a self righteous apostle because He believed in everything in the Law and written in the Prophets?
I hope you know the difference between knowing the law and its purpose and trying to justify yourself by it? That's what Paul is speaking to....He was the greatest of law-keepers but said all that was dung compared to being justified by faith in Christ.

But it does feel good to be self-righteous..don't it?

Oh mom hi:D i was really excited to see you online:eek: I am doing okay I was really dissapointed yesterday because a car ran out of gas right next to the gas station and the drver was trying to push his car to it and I tried to go help but a man stopped me and said he would do it. It would have made my day if I got to help:[ But how are you doing?
true story:
we had a car when the kids were small, and the gas gauge had broken, i had all (then) 4 kids out grocery shopping in pouring rain, and ran out of gas on a busy road just a few yards from a station.
so i, at a buck-twenty, was pushing the minivan through the rain to get gas. uphill. (for real)
so many men in trucks passed by and -looked-.

God was good, though, as always. got the van to the station, got the gas...even had a towel in the car to dry off a little. can't really blame folks for not wanting to stand around in cold rain. haha
nice you wanted to help. :)

we're well, thanks! sorry, Mitspa, for derailing.

There's a lot of pharisees that believe that aren't able to put down their dung.

Oh but how it helps the tree of righteousness to grow if they would only cast it down...and use it for good instead of evil.

That's why grace and truth came together...so we had the grace to admit the truth and by grace overcome.

The funny thing is I notice how to God the ones who are righteous are the ones who lower themselves beneath the dirt who cant even look to the sky who are the ones who know how badly they need Gods grace.

not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[SUP][a][/SUP] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith Phil3:9

Jesus is the way, no?
He most certainly is and He left an example for us to follow...

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

So if we do things differently than He did, are we following Him?

respectfully, i think we need to be careful about casting 'they's rather than 'we's.

i mean, how many of us are feeling pretty good about ourselves
at this moment in comparison to others?

:(

He's the only way because He is the Door.
I saw you had quoted concerning believing all the law and the prophets, (not the way there) Didnt know whether you might have missed these (even there) as Paul was pointing out were as " they which testify of me" or as Jesus showed them (concerning himself) here...

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: (which was) Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Those things "concerning himself"

Then go to Paul confessing Christ (ie after "the way")

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after (((the way))) which they call heresy, ((so worship I the God of my fathers))), believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Because these (the law and the prophets) are they which testify of me.

See it here with Paul,

Acts 9:2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of ((((this way)))) whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

Those of "this way" (or of Christ) who is "the way" is the one he stated he followed after ((believing all the law and prophets))) which bear witness ((of him)) which he understood (being a Pharisee) that they called (((the way)) hersey.

He is sort of hid in that verse, if you skip over the part you can easily start justifying the law and the prophets but in a different way then was meant (which was both them and Paul pointing to Jesus Christ there) or "AFTER the WAY" (which they call hersey) so worshipped he the God of the fathers.

Do you know the worst part of being self righteous? You are not even aware of the sin you are commiting
Throwing this out there for everyone. Is self righteousness a form of blasphemy?
