Wow ... are those the stats?! (shakes head) ... How that must warp perception of reality ...terrible, horrible world we live in.

Can't vouch for the stats, not remembering numbers and had to look this up, but every time numbers have been mentioned over the years, they're mind boggling. And the overt Satanism, in-your-face evil and sinful in a lot of music children listen to is a horrible statement of where our society is at, has been at, for a long time now. Evil is acceptable, even a cultural standard, souls sold-out galore, churning out their Satanic filth, corrupting the whole world. God has been most longsuffering.

I must admit that I can't help myself when I see a biblical movie coming to theatres - I find I'm compelled to go ... despite the fact that most of the time I leave the theatre disappointed and shaking my head in wonder... Anyone see the movie "Noah"??? Mind boggling how they twisted that up! I mean ... Noah had no faith in God!!!
Almost always, it's the old angel of light routine. I don't care to give "Biblical" dramas from Hollywood, or PBS religious documentaries, a try, anymore. Don't need Christianity framed by people sucking the devil's kneecaps. And you know something? Just read the reviews, learn what you're glad you missed. It wasn't the Bible account? Do tell! Shocking, I tell you, just shocking!

I'm not going to lie and I'm not accusing y'all of it but truth is I like watching movies but I don't listen to secular music because some of the songs might take me back to a memory of when I wasn't a believer . I enjoyed The Passion of Christ and the Bible movie and the story of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.. I like the Discovery Channel and The cartoon network...but the question was should Christians watch Hollywood movies and e.t.c? Well I do and I am a Christian. Those were great scriptures y'all put on here .I still do like Rock Hudson movies cause the man wasn't carrying on like a homosexual onscreen and he's already paid the price for his sinful sexual act. Just look at some of these preachers sinning worse than what you see in a Hollywood movie. As always I'll respect your views and thanks for sharing those scriptures.

A lot of girls (including some at church) dig this chick flicks known as the Notebook, I watched it a day before posting this thread and thought to myself throughout the movie. Am I watching porn? Most of the movie they are making out with McAdams half naked. (she does have a gorgeous smile, not going to lie) On top of that, they seems to start right at the beginning, no start with friendship and of course pre-marriage sex. In the end, I thought it was an average movie with McAdams being the saving grace. (Not when she is half naked though, did i mention how much i dig her smile?)

I like good story lines and good endings on some movies and tv shows. I soooo deplore the love stories like you mentioned ToBeWithHim with all the wrong messages for young women and men. Not just the wrong messages but total lies. They never talk about the STDs. Not to mention the emotional turmoil and sometimes ruin of people who have had these physical relationships outside of marriage.

Woman (and men) who do love that way fall down big time emotionally and physically. Men who love that way are being trained to treat woman as objects. hollywood doesn't even try anymore to make a distinction between being in love with who you are with let alone being married. God did not make us humans to treat our minds and bodies in such a careless manner. Being married is always God's plan that works right and best for us. He gave us the manual.

Seeing the world take God's plan for men and woman/right and wrong and so distort on tv and movies does vex my soul so I just don't watch them anymore. Including glorifying walking dead people etc... Calling good - evil and evil - good.... Calling dead - alive and alive - dead. yeeessshhhh

I like Law & Order but it has some really stinko messages threaded through many of the shows. I turn it off. I sometimes like CSI Miami and CSI LasVegas programs too but when it gets bad it isn't worth vexing my soul over so I like having the power to just "click" off the tv.

I have some of the DVDs of those shows and fast fwd. But unlike one of the posters said here that we should watch some nudity, some blood and guts., and listen to swear words.,so we are not hiding under a rock and seeing the seedier side of life ? no thank you maam. Not in my opinion. We are not under a rock but are supposed to be standing on the Rock of our salvation. (that just came to me while writing this)
:D

We as Christians are never under some rock like hollywood has presented the Christian to be...uneducated and stupidly simple. We should be able to live here and to be confident in our stand and avoid things that would corrupt and vex our soul and spirit. I know I can't wear ear plugs working with the young woman in my business so I hear enough of the bad stuff.

Words and combination of words from these young women's lips that I would never have even thought to put together.
 That is our world. Making yourself watch these R-rated bad hollywood movies and programs by choice will not make us more "educated" but instead it will distort our views bit by bit.

I used to attend a church people recognized as a cult, in that church the pastor told us not to watch hollywood movie because many movies are topics that God didn't like, and a lot of lyrics from worldly music is about ust, which God hates as well. Christians are supposed to boycott all hollywood movies and music and only listen to gospel music

Would you agree?
we were bought with the previous blood of Jesus. We are to think of things above. There are some good wholesome movies out there even though they are few and far between. I've seen some lately that were so beautiful they made me tear up.
