So does frog legs. And rabbit.
Ok so how do I know that it is not the chicken that tastes like frog legs, rabbit, and rattlesnake? Perhaps you are attributing the flavor to the wrong animal.

Are you implying Luke 10.19 is a just a nice story?
I am implying that the story that these funny responses are about, the conversation with the rattlesnake by RickyZ on post#115 is a nice story.

Luke 10:19 is not even a story but a statement. Lighten up.

Are you implying the story is not true?

I find that a lot of people who deny the gifts and miracles believe that anyone who relates such a thing is a bald faced liar, and absolutely worthless as a Christian witness. (But they won't come out and actually say that).

Oh great now we have the gift of chicken. Everything you eat tastes like chicken. What does chicken taste like? Sort of like asking what grits taste like I suppose.

See now you went and touched on the crux of the matter. If the story is not true then the teller would be lacking veracity. That would make them pretty much an embarrassment to Christ.

Do we really want to prove the facts at the expense of another who names Christ? Some will gladly engage in that activity but are they any better than the one who makes unprovable claims? Even more so when the facts may not be readily evident nor tangible.

Of course they will not come out and say such a thing. Best left to the Lord for He see the heart with absolute clarity and in truth.

So Jesus is walking along with His disciples and a few followers and He performs a miracle. So these disciples and followers fan out to neighboring towns and locales and relate what they saw. Let's suppose it was a healing. Some of those hearing will listen and think 'gee this group of people all seem pretty sure about what they have witnessed happening' and receive the message. Others in the crowd are skeptical, and want to see medical records and doctors statements and ya know without a good xray it's all bs to them. They don't receive the message, and do not welcome those bringing it, and in their lack of faith grieve the Holy Spirit who sent those witnesses to woo them.

Yes you are right, only the Lord sees the heart. But we all get to see what comes forth out of it.

Of course his story is true. He spoke it didn't he? I've seen that sort of thing before myself...I found my Lady talking to a bear one time. The funny thing was sitting there listening to her. When she was done, she told the bear that she would leave him a treat, which she did. Then she climbed into the car and as she drove away...The bear came an got the treat. I've seen her talking to all sorts of wild animals...Elk bear and others. I tell you truly.

Has anyone witnessed these signs in Mark 16:17-18 today? How would you challenge those supernatural claims?

All beleivers have witnesed the effect of that parable. But not the ones that went out from us, not of us.

Signs are for those who reject prophecy. All believers follow after those signs as to their “spiritual meaning” of that parable. the poison of false prophecy has not effect on them

Serpents typify false prophets that walk after the oral traditions of men and in doing so make the faith of God without effect. In that way Christ called the father as a law of men... a brood of vipers. Poison represents false doctrine .Believers will not be deceived by them… they are given the faith to understand that God is no longer brining any new prophecy .The book of prophecy the bible is completed (perfect) it is sealed up in that way till the end of time.

Those who would ignore the warning have drank of the poison of asps .. that sign in Mark 16:17-18 speaks to the rebels.

Signs follow after believers...they do not point to them as eveidence they have the Holy Spirit... believers are not to seek signs or test God to serve as a sign to unbelievers.

That sign or parable is like the sign of the pole and the brazen serpent .Brass speaks of judgment in that way .Those who did not beleive prophecy died from the poison (false prophecy)

I think the snake-handler churches are out there in la-la land. That falls under tempting God and I'm surprised more of them don't get bit and die.
I agree. I saw a joke on the internet that poked fun at snake handling churches. - Top Ten Ways You Know You're in a Bad Church

10. The church bus has gun racks

9. Staff consists of "Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Socio-Pastor"

8. The Bible they use is the "Dr. Seuss Version"

7. ATM in the lobby

6. Services are B.Y.O.S. -- "Bring Your Own Snake"

5. Choir wearing leather robes

4. No cover charge, but communion is a 2 drink minimum

3. Karaoke worship time

2. Ushers ask "Smoking or Non-Smoking?"

1. The only song the church organist knows is "Innagaddadavita"

I am implying the story is baseless, without any basis of fact to challenge.

It is like claims of seeing bigfoot.

Am I calling you a liar, no. Am I agreeing that it happen as you said, no.

Must I agree with you to not call you a "bald faced liar"??

Your story is but an attempt at implying you are part of Mark 16's claims.

Pure straw man argument. Jesus never did anything on a haphazard basis. Everything had purpose according to His divine will.

You are going to believe what you want. Question becomes can you or will you believe without signs, miracles and wonders?

That must come from the long ending of Mark 16. The scribe probably worked for Wendy's.

The stupid thing about the story is that, with an occasional exception, all those asking for proof will be Churchians. They're called believers but they don't know what believe means, even when looking at the truth.
