The sealing of the Holy Spirit of Promise, part 1

.”Ephesians 1:12 "who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

The gift of eternal life is in Christ and all those who abide in Christ have the gift abiding in them. If they don't follow/obey Christ they don't have eternal life in them. This is the "earnest" of our inheritance “until" redemption of the purchased soul. (the sealing of the Holy Spirit of promise). The inheritance rests upon our keeping Covenant with God.

We are to serve God in whom holds the gift till our race is finish. Christ hasn't given the gift over to us yet, He holds onto that gift of eternal life until we finish the race. We are being tested here of our faithfulness to God.

Holiness and godly virtues are not transferable, but rather sets us apart unto God by recompense for our righteousness works of godliness from a heart of sincerity in this present world. Its biblically defined in scripture as "IF" you do this then God "will" do that, "ie" the conditions of Covenant. Covenant must consist of two parties, and each party must be holy. There are many scriptures that tell us to endure to the end, run the race, finish the course etc. Matthew 24:13; Hebrews 12:1; 2 Timothy 4:7; 1 Timothy 6:12; Galatians 5:7; Ephesians 4:1; Philippians 3:14; 1 Thessalonians 1:3

The Gift of eternal life is given as a reward to all those who finish the race and endure to the end. Rev22:12 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

The Holy Spirit and the Eternal Gift of Life is two different things. One is God's Spirit guiding us from our inner man along this life's journey to do that which is righteous, and the other is yet to be given to us. The Holy Spirit guides us to do the will of God He doesn't make us holy, but rather we are made holy by what we do in His name. Holiness is not transferable, but rather sets us apart unto God by recompense for our righteousness works of godliness from a heart of sincerity.

The gift of eternal life is in Christ and all those who abide in Christ have the gift abiding in them. If they don't follow/obey Christ they don't have eternal life in them. This is the "earnest" of our inheritance "until" redemption of the purchased soul (the sealing of the Holy Spirit of promise). We are to serve God in whom holds the gift till our race is finish.Christ hasn't given the gift over to us yet, He holds onto that gift of eternal life until we finish the race. We are being tested here of our faithfulness to God.

Having the seal of God is the Lord knowing those who depart from iniquity. This is how one becomes sealed by the Spirit and saved.

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Psalms 101:4

The Holy Spirit of promise is Gods faithful promise of eternal salvation to us if we abide in Him.

Holy Spirit…the earnest> The Holy Spirit is an earnest. By the grace of God man makes a first settlement of what is owed through repentance, the debt is made void at the time of repentance and reconciliation takes place, for the wages of sin is death. Then he must abide in the faith until the end. Luke-16- "And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat take thy bill, and write fourscore"> the earnest of our inheritance> A clearing of past sins when one comes to the thrown of grace in the baptism of repentance, but we must "continue" in HIS word, enduring to the end, whereby we have hope of things not yet seen, and yearn to hear HIM say "well done my good and faithful servant". The Holy Spirit is given to believers as an installment of what we are going to have in great fullness in the future as we patiently await the full manifestation of the Sons of God at HIS 2nd coming (Romans 8). His presence and power in our lives is HIS faithful pledge of our inheritance to come (Rom. 8:23; 2 Cor. 1:22; 5:5). The sealing is Gods PROMISE that HE is true and faithful, and will keep HIS promised covenant, for it is impossible for God to lie. God was true and faithful to Old Testament Israel, but it was the children of Israel who broke the covenant promise, not God.

Here we observe that Paul speaks of those who first trusted Christ, and this they chose to do after they heard the word of truth. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word". Trusting in our Saviour and His full pardon for our sins is a volitionary act, it is a voluntary freewill choice by each individual to receive the engrafted word that can save our souls, or reject it.

Those who believe, trusting in Christ, "abiding in the vine" keeping covenant, a faith proven by works, are then said to be sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. The whole context here is that these who are sealed have placed their faithfulness to God in the LORD. The text says nothing of those who would depart from the Lord, which is a possibility according to the word (Heb. 3:12-14 1 1 Cor. 10-12, I Timothy 4-1, Cor. 15-3, Hebrews 10:26-31, Hebrews 6, 4,5,6 ).

"What is the seal?" The sealing of the Father is the HOLY NATURE OF GOD given to us in regeneration (2 Peter. 1:4).It is that new heart and new nature (Ezek. 36:26), that is given to the born again believers, now having a hedge of protection surrounding them. We are given this sealing for the purpose: that we may be made like unto Him in HOLINESS (Ephsians. 1:4; 2 Cor. 3:18; I Thess. 4:3,7; Hebrews. 12:14). Every child of God has this seal of holiness and shows it by worshipping the Lamb and following Him all the days of his life, by walking in righteousness set apart unto holiness walking within His hedge of protection. In 2 Timothy. 2:19: "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure; HAVING THIS SEAL, (the seal of holiness) The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, LET EVERY ONE THAT NAMETH THE NAME OF CHRIST DEPART FROM INIQUITY."

The scripture repeatedly warns over and over again of those who might depart from covenant faith, by not continuing to follow and obey Him to the end of their earthly lives; these will perish. Those who depart from Christ after knowing Him will have a worse time in hell than if they had never believed and been saved at all (2 Pet. 2:20-22 Luke 11-26). In the book of Ephesians, the sealing is clearly connected to one’s continuing in the word and trusting the LORD. Take notice that the word trusted appears before the word sealed, thus trusting/obeying from the heart in Jesus Christ fully precedes and is a conditon required before the sealing of the Holy Spirit of promise. The bible teaches us that a believer can stop believing, that sin can separate him from God, and that he can fall from grace (Isaiah 59:2; Luke 8:13; Galatians 5:4; 19-21; Hebrews 12:14-15, Hebrews 6, 4,5,6, Hebrews 10:26-31, Matthew 12-45, Matthew 13-41, Matthew 23-13, Rev. 21:8, 21 along with a multiple other places in scripture. I think there are over 80 verses that imply this in the NT alone.

According to Ephesians, the presence of the Holy Spirit is the earnest, a down payment or deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the final redemption of those believers who keep His commandments. The Holy Ghost will abide in them forever John 14-15,26 . This sealing and promise does not mean that the one who is blessed to be chosen and redeemed will continue to walk in the Gods grace and be saved in the end. Each believer has a continuing and ongoing choice to serve God, and is only of his/her own choice and no one else’s. God does not force the free will of men
(Gen. 6:3; Deut. 30:19; Isa. 1:19-20; Gal. 6:7-9; Rev. 2-3).

Let’s examine a passage found in the book of Hebrews. The Holy Spirit would never contradict Himself in His Word found in the whole council of God. To see that departing from Christ after trusting in Him is possible, let’s look at Hebrews 3:6, 12-15.
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, IF we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end…Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you (brethren) an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrews 3:6, 12-15

Being sealed does not exempt the person who has first trusted in Christ from continuing forward in obedient faith. He must hold his confidence in Christ stedfast unto the end, while not “departing from the living God.” The partaking of the vile sins of the flesh separate us from HIM. Therefore the one who endures to the end must remain in the grace of God, not an evil heart of unbelief, and becoming a castaway. A castaway is a biblical word for one who is cast away from God after being with Him, these are those who have left their first love in Christ.

The book of Jude speaks even of those angels who left their first habitation, they fell away in rebellion. Paul the writer of Eph. did not believe that he was unconditionally sealed into a salvation with no possibility of falling away from the faith. (1 Cor. 9:27; Heb. 3:6, 12-15).

“Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.” 2 Corinthians 1:10

just one thing bro if they dont follow or obey they could be lost... doest mean automatically they will not recieve salvation if they disobey,,,,, im not saying disobeyment is good.... but correct there will be punishment for those who disobey... now whether that means the verry stiff penalty of exercution by God for disobeying then thats up to him,,, but lord does say all can be forgiven...

which is saying you can lose it befor that day is wrong...

Part 2

Nowhere in the text does it teach that the servant of God is permanently bound into salvation, nowhere. Paul says here in 2 Corinthians 1:10 that the great LORD has delivered us…the word "doth" means in the present tense deliver us. The terms "Keep and kept", is all throughout the NT; if we abide in HIM we are kept by HIM. Those born again are presently saved, are being saved, and as we continue in His grace, we will be saved.(this is His promise and is upheld in His sealing of that promise) Vs. 10 must be taken in context by including the preceding words in Vs. 9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead. Those who are saved must continue abiding in His grace (His power), and if they do, they will by HIS Spirit of PROMISE be ultimately saved and raised up on the last day, just as Jesus stated 4 times in John ch. 6. According to God’s Word; Christ must reign in the lives of those who will be His, now and forever. In relationship with Christ, and by His Spirit of grace, and our own free will, we must crucify the deeds of the flesh that the resurrection life of Jesus Christ might dwell in our temple (Rom. 6; 2 Cor. 4:10-12).

Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
In 1 Cor. 10 Paul warns us and uses the Hebrew children in the Sinai wilderness as and example not to follow their ways. He said let Him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. In other words darkness can be perceived as light . And Jesus asked; if that darkness in you be light, just how great is that darkness. (or just how deceived are you) Deceived people don't know they are deceived and hence forth go out deceiving others as Satan's angels of dark light. This can only come about when one does not love the truth, thus strong delusion is vested upon their minds.

In Eph. 4:30 we are commanded to “grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption". Grieving the Holy Spirit, quenching the Spirit, chokes off spiritual nourishment, stunts the growth and can eventually kill the branch as it withers and falls away from the VINE.. No place in the text does it teach that the sealing cannot be broken. The easy-grace corrupters, and the OSAS crowd, both foolishly assume such theologies to be true, without scriptural authority to support their beliefs. There are those that USE scripture to appease the flesh, and the are those who obey scripture to please God..

It is of a truth that one can fall away from the faith, making it self-evident that God’s sealing does not mean that one who initially is saved and believes in Christ is automatically locked into or forced to remain a child of God and raised up on the last day. It another lie of the Devil! But be assured that we are saved if we hold fast to that which is good, keep the faith, and continue with obedience in His word.

The OSAS crowd are those who by way of vanity trust that they are sealed in such a way as to exempt them from personal accountability or responsibility for their sins, allowing them to live in their sins. The Holy Spirit’s presence is only in the one who has trusted in, and is ever present trusting in Christ. (Abiding in Christ).

The presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer is the “earnest” in (Eph. 1:13-14), or the divinely-given down payment until final salvation has occurred, when that person is finally in Abrahams bosom Luke 16:23. One must believe to the saving of their soul, and be kept by the power of God (grace) through faith proven by deeds, that worketh love unto salvation, thus making him one who endures to the end, an over comer, one who then receives his crown of glory (Heb. 10:39; 1 Pet. 1:5; Rev. 2-3). There is no suggestion of an unconditional OSAS eternal security in Eph. chapter 1. Only by wrestling the scripture to one’s own destruction can OSAS be thought of as true. These wolves that vainly imagine that they themselves are sealed, and then blindly teach others of such damnable heresies, are devouring the flock, and blocking others from entering in. The false sealing they foolishly parrot places their souls in danger of a greater damnation Matthew 23-9.

The Earnest of the Spirit
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Eph1:13-14

Earnest is not a Guarantee, arrabōn 'down-payment, pledge', of Hebrew origin, word used in trade for money that exchanged hands in pledge of a future purchase. The Gift of eternal life is in Christ and all those who ABIDE in Christ have the Gift abiding in them by the Seal of the Holy Spirit. Abide: 'Remain, not to depart, Continue, dwell, endure', [SUP]'[/SUP]If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. John15:6, 'IF', Subjunctive mode, something that may or may not occur depending on circumstances. The 'Seal does not guarantee the Gift, the gift is held in 'Earnest' unto the Day of redemption, when we finish the race, endure to the end. 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith 2Timothy4:7

Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 1Cor.1:22

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto (toward) the day of redemption. Eph4:30

Our Soul is the purchased possession, it is 'vouch safe' by Christ, who has freely given us remission of past sins through the shed blood, plus all things that pertain to life and godliness, the exceeding great and precious promises through which we can escape the corruption that is the world through lust. (2Pet1:3-4) The Holy Spirit guides us as our Comforter, 'Paraketos', but we are Made Holy by what we DO in His Name, holiness and righteousness is NOT transferable! It is an absolute Imperative that we remain Faithful to the end to receive the Prize of eternal life!
[SUP] [/SUP]Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1Cor9:24. 'Look to yourselves, that we do not LOSE those things we worked for, but that we have receive a full reward' 2Jh8

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. Rev.22:12...the reward IS eternal life.

The Prize, Crown, Reward (all same thing) is ETERNAL Life. There are not many rewards or varying degrees of inheritance, that would make God a respecter of persons, playing favoritism one over another. A Covenant requires both parties to remain faithful to the agreement. His faithfulness is without question, your is dependent on what you DO! 'Therefore know that the Lord

your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; Deut7:9, Daniel 9:4

Just as the modern Bible translators have changed 'Earnest to Guarantee' (in most newer version) and your Pastor Pundits have made the Hope of eternal life an Assurance, based on the finished work of Christ instead of your faithfulness to the end, so to we have masses of Professed Christians who have placed their confidence in something they do not possess; for God will not place His Seal (of earnest) on a defiled Vessel. How can the 'hope of eternal life be in someone who is not Pure and dwelling in Christ.

The HOPE of eternal life is NOT the Assurance of it, 'That being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Tit3:7. It is YET to be Reaped, Gal6:9, in the AGE to Come, 'Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Chris Tit3:13, Every passage in the NT that speaks of eternal life in Christ is expressed as a HOPE: Rom4:18, 5:2,4, 8:24-25, Gal5:5, Eph1:18, 4:4, Col1:5, 23, 27, 1Thes5:8, 1Tim1:1, Heb3:6, 6, 11, 19, 1Pet1:3, 13, 'In hope of the glory of God', 'We are saved in this Hope', 'Rejoicing in Hope', 'Wait for the hope of righteousness by faith', 'The hope of His calling', 'The hope that is laid up for you in heaven', 'The hope of the gospel', 'Hope in our Lord Jesus Christ', 'The Hope of Salvation', 'The Hope of eternal life', 'Holding fast the confidence and rejoicing of the hope firm to the end', 'Having begotten us again to a lively hope', 'Gird up the lions of your mind, be sober and hope to the end', 'That your faith and hope might be in God', 'And every man that has this HOPE in him, purifies himself even as He is Pure!' 1John 3:3

YES, it is a 'Lively (living) Hope, 1Peter1:3, for those who are abiding in Christ, who eagerly wait for it with perseverance, Romans 8:25, and have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear (actively sinning) but received the Spirit of adoption by whom they cry 'Abba Father', Romans 8:14. Those who understand their Covenant relationship with Christ and their responsibility to Continue in the faith make their calling sure, never trampling His blood (by excusing sin) but holding it precious by which they can draw near with a true heart in full assurance having been washed and purged (of their dead works of rebellion) holding fast the confession of their hope without wavering; for He who promised is faithful! Hebrews10:22-23. 'Watch, stand-fast in the faith, be brave, be strong!' 1Cor.16:13....................Mike

No voting in polls or strength in numbers can change the truth..Like I said in another post; I would suppose most all voted for eternal security in Noah's day, however Noah stood aloof abiding in the truth, and obeyed God, thus he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.......Note: even Noah's own brothers and sisters in his immediate family all perished in the flood.

eph 1: 13 - 1 It says the moment you have faith You were sealed UNTIL the day of redemption. And this seal is our pledge (guarantee)

It does not say as long as we keep on having faith, If we keep on loving, It does not say we are sealed as long as we do good works. It does not say we are sealed as long as we abide..

why would anyone say otherwise, If god wanted us to know we could lose the seal. He would have said so when he made these comments through paul

it suggests God's abhorrence of their deed. It says nothing about whether they were saved.

And it does not mention forgiveness or otherwise. It is actually Jesus teaching by exaggeration which He often did. Otherwise we would all be lost.,

if we are saved eternally we can also hope for salvation, the one is the guarantee that God has saved us once for all from the guilt of sin, the other is looking forward with certainty to final full deliverance.

In both case we ARE BEING saved from the power and pollution of sin.

John 8:12-58

12 ¶Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Clearly doesnt this Show that we have to follow him to walk in his light ?
