Indeed MARK... Thank you for understanding a little of what I try to convey....

As the HOLY SPIRIT leads a person, that person is being cleansed... That means DIRT is being removed, but even God warns that if the DIRT is being removed, the room it leaves should be filled with something GOOD, And as you correctly stated NOTHING good comes from me, so some GOOD is being put in me to fill that space. So! This is where you people and about 4 billion other's with you hears and talks WRONG.... IT IS NOT THE SPIRIT THAT GOD PUTS IN YOU TO FILL THAT PRIVIOUS DIRT places... It is NOT the Holy Spirit, it is something else.... Jesus said we should be born of that, other than the Spirit. It is the WATER....The Truth, the WORD OF GOD! THIS IS THE WATER WE SHOULD BE BORN FROM! AND THE WATER IS WHAT "GROWS" in us, NOT THE SPIRIT!

Mark please, for once in your life, and for once in our communication, TRY to see it as I get it from the Word.....

When Jesus made the best wine EVER, what was the wine just before it became wine.... WATER.... The vessel was filled with WATER! H2O in that case but bear with me. If Jesus did not DO something with that water, it would have REMAINED water. And it would not have been served... So! Here goes...

When we are being cleansed on our REPENTANCE road, God removes sin out of us, it might even be demons, but still we are making place for OTHER things, and God places WORD in that place.... TRUTH! Look what God said about Word/God's Will/God's commans/God's Truth and Love...God said if we LOVE Him we will keep HIS COMMANDS/WORD... etc. So it looks like the more we LOVE GOD the more we KEEP TRUTH! That menas Love grows in us in DIRECT relation to the Truth that grows in us, in DIRECT relation to the SPACE we (The Holy Spirit and us) leaves as we lay down DIRT! Sin is dirt!

Please think about this, do not be in a cold or dense mood when you read this. If you are not in a SHARING mood, come back to this when you ARE! PLEASE! I plead with you, read this with an open and sharing spirit! One that WANTS to understand Cobus' faith! I listened and concidered ALL your advice and suggestions, your gospels does NOT MAKE SENSE! And God is NOT a God of confusion. God speaks about a Spirit! God speaks about a PUT MY SPIRIT IN YOU! And God speaks about the RESULT of that action.

This here is what I ask you all, not only Mark.... Do you think God has something that HE can put in a human body, to make that human EXACTLY LIKE HE MADE JESUS? LEt us not argue about how and when and why He doe this. Take this question just by what I ask!

Does God have something that HE can put in a human's flesh to change that flesh to be EXACTLY like what HE MADE Jesus to be? A PERFECT BEING IN FLESH?

I ask this becasue I want to stress the FACT that no matter when or how God does it, the RESULT IS ...JESUS - LIKE! That is what the Bible teach. The Bible is so straight talking about this that the Bible says.... To the FULNESS OF CHRIST. UNTO A PERFECT MAN. I am not even English and I get this.... If ANY PERSON is to the fulness of Christ, that person is EXACTLY like Christ. If any PERSON is FILLED with the Holy Spirit, that person is AS HOLY AS GOD IS HOLY, because he is filled with THE HOLY SPIRIT!

Just so far, let us only go up to here. Or do you think the Holy Spirit GROWS in us? Show scripture!

Cobus, how can I talk to you and understand Cobus's faith? Unless we had a intermediate source like
hmmm...maybe the bible?

You wont perfect your flesh. Paul said to rekon the old man dead.
He also said that war wont stop in this life.

In otherwords to me your not reasonable. It seems you want a "faith"
of your own choosing the way you want it to be. With your own unique understanding.

...You can keep your likes...
Wisecracking apart, sometimes I don't know if you wish me to address you at all. Why not let me know?

PS. Of course position has everything to do with the scriptures you enclosed. How otherwise are we motivated to strive for more Christlikeness?

If you want to provide something to the thread, maybe something that would help cobus
understand the difference between our standing and state. Go ahead!

"strive for more Christlikeness?" you just got done saying that was already done.

I was about to press the "like" button, almost there, then I saw these coming up:

abiding
IF after being saved He promises us He predestined us to be conformed into the image of His Son.

tribesman
That happened already before our salvation, yes even before the foundation of the world (Eph.1:4-6).

abiding
Then it only makes sense to get to it and forget about wasting time "trying" to be perfect. We should do our job and leave the perfecting to the Lord.

tribesman
The perfection is already done (Heb.10:14).

COBUS!!!
Jesus was not a created entity!
He was not just a flesh shell God poured the Holy Spirit into!!

and that's NOT how it works for us anyway!

you are in heretical beliefs! (i know it's out of ignorance, but you're still responsible for it)!

stop thinking like a child and smarten up and listen to people!

you're never going to be God...ever...not ever.
you're to imitate Jesus in His character.
you are to love Him and abide in His teachings like a child does their parents.

yes, God will be your Father.
but you will never, ever be a god.
do you understand this?

oh my..........

What he needs to understand is justification, on which all of it hangs. Position is all. Yes, perfection is already accomplished as Heb.10:14 says. This is not contrasting the desire of the saved: to be more like Christ in their walk. They desire this not to hopefully become acceptable unto God however, but because of loving gratitude that they are "accepted in the beloved".

Well by listening to him youd think he was ready to listen and learn.
Hes got perfection in his head...and he does need that. Apparently hes
not sure how to go about it. And he does need it to be acceptable to God.
But does he want it Gods way? Or Cobus's way?

Right.

While I'm not a spurgeonite, this one I think he got pretty well together. Worth a read:

http://www.spurgeongems.org/vols4-6/chs232.pdf <-link/pdf 'Perfection in Faith'

Directed from monergism site of course.

But we are perfect, for the blood of Christ has been sprinkled on us and, therefore, our standing before God is the standing of perfection!

Bottom line, he must want it his way
Because he will not accept the plainest of scripture put to him, but prefers his reasoning to what the plain word states

And he continually states the Holy Spirit does not dwell in Him.
Paul tells us if the Spirit does not dwell in us we do not belong to Christ

This is serious stuff Abiding

Unfortunately many who are self taught strongly believe they have been given revelation/understanding that the vast majority do not have

On another website one man who was self taught believed he knew more of the Spirtual than did Paul, Peter, James and John.

I am not setting out to upset Corbus here, but the internet does provide an outlet for such people to air their views.

before he decided he wasnt perfect or saved yet, he taught he was perfect, before that
he had a morning revelation session where he gave direct revelations from god daily. so
im still waiting to see the next move. if he opens and wants to learn the truth...its not far away.

I understand why you would think that about the water which is the Word of God which is placed inside of us. however your understanding of the Holy Spirit is flawed. You are trying to keep the Old Covenant of Moses and not the NEW one mediated by Jesus.

The answer to this question "Do you think God has something that HE can put in a human body, to make that human EXACTLY LIKE HE MADE JESUS?" is NO because GOD did NOT make JESUS.

There is not another human being who will be EXACTLY LIKE JESUS.

this is how the Holy Spirit helps people to grow, by teaching them not only to live in the Spirit but to Walk in the Spirit:

Galatians 5
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [SUP]23 [/SUP]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. [SUP]24 [/SUP]And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. [SUP]25 [/SUP]If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [SUP]2[/SUP]

By teaching them through the Holy Spirit to add to their Faith

2 Peter 1
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, [SUP]6 [/SUP]to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, [SUP]7 [/SUP]to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
The Holy Spirit helps YOUR spirit grow and strive towards the upward calling. The Holy Spirit allows your spirit to call out Abba Father. however without faith all works are useless and nothing you do can be pleasing to God.

Romans 8
[SUP]8 [/SUP]So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. [SUP]10 [/SUP]And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [SUP]11 [/SUP]But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. [SUP]13 [/SUP]For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” [SUP]16 [/SUP]The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [SUP]17 [/SUP]and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
for you see in verse 16, your spirit is not replaced with God's Holy Spirit but taught and guided by His Spirit to learn God's laws and follow His ways. you must first have God's Holy Spirit agreeing with your spirit that you are His child. if you do not have the Spirit of Christ guiding you than you are not His.

Cobus you shared with the Bible study room that you're not yet born again, yet you've been trying to achieve that for all these years that we've known you. You keep saying you're getting there. It was pretty clear that to you being totally sinless was the defining characteristic of a born again Christian, and if you're not totally sinless then you're not yet born again -- that it's impossible for a Christian to sin at all, and if they ever do then they were never truly born again.

Well don't forget that in the same book that you were quoting from (1 John), John says:

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.[SUP]2 [/SUP]He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

I'm sure glad that's there.

Also Jesus said his yoke is easy and his burden is light. He doesn't make it impossible for us. Under your doctrine or former doctrine, it's impossible -- you'll never reach that state on this side of heaven. Having said that, you/we can live a totally transformed life. God set me free from bondages of sin that I myself could never break free of. I'm not perfect but I definitely have a new life, and every day I have to seek first His righteousness because yes it is very possible for me to sin, walking in my flesh.
