Hi Becky.
I'll be up front in saying i am what is known as a cessationist (forgive the use of bogus wiki, but it's "easy"):

Cessationism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
In Christian theology, Cessationism is the view that the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as tongues, prophecy and healing, ceased being practiced early on in Church history. The opposite of Cessationism is Continuationism. An account of the dispute between Cessationists and Continuationists is presented in the article Cessationism versus Continuationism.

Cessationists generally believe that the miraculous gifts were given only for the foundation of the Church, during the time between the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, c. AD 33 (see Acts 2) and the fulfillment of God's purposes in history, usually identified as either the completion of the last book of the New Testament or the death of the last Apostle, i.e. John the Apostle. Its counterpart is Continuationism which believes that the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit have been available for use by the church ever since Pentecost.

.........................

Having said that, I was curious as to what group (denomination) you are studying with, and what methods or resources they use to determine gifts. (I did a spiritual gifts analysis once years ago)

I understand if you choose not to respond to someone the other side of this issue.

Anyways, here's a link useful for anyone as yet undecided on the matter: good to examine all things!

hi becky there is another strand where others on site have taken a poll and paulnsiilas, umm she doesn't like contemporary christain music either, but Jesus told us to be nice to even those who curse us and revile us so I'm trying to be nice to her.

I have the spiritual gift of discernment of spirits, giving and encouragement. :) I hope you have a blessed day.

God has seen fit to give me the gift of tongues, the gift of prophecy, the gift of discerning of spirits, the gift of faith, and the gift of knowledge.

But the greatest gift of the Spirit He has given me, besides the Spirit Himself, is the gift of love, of seeing and understanding God's love as a tangible reality.

God bless you in His love,
