Well it would seem that the message is the same. But which of the modern versions were you using Homwardbound?
Here is the thing though, I will do a comparison between the King James Bible and the message bible. And you tell me whether or not if you can discern the difference. And if you can discern the New Age agenda behind the Message bible (translation).

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying,Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (Message):
14 And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Revelation 22:20-21 (Message)
20 He who testifies to all these things says it again: "I'm on my way! I'll be there soon!" Yes! Come, Master Jesus! 21 The grace of the Master Jesus be with all of you. Oh, Yes!

Deuteronomy 32:8(Message)
8 When the High God gave the nations their stake, gave them their place on Earth, He put each of the peoples within boundaries under the care of divine guardians.
John 17:23 (King James Bible)
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
John 17:23 (Message)
23 I in them and you in me. Then they'll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That you've sent me and loved them In the same way you've loved me.
1 Corinthians 10:17 (King James Bible)
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
1 Corinthians 10:17 (Message)
17 Because there is one loaf, our many-ness becomes one-ness - Christ doesn't become fragmented in us. Rather, we become unified in him. We don't reduce Christ to what we are; he raises us to what he is.
Exodus 25:30 (King James Bible)

Revelation 20:11 (King James Bible)

Revelation 20:11 (Message)
11 I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth.
Does any two people interpret words in the same way, and is why there are so many sides to get to the same place all through Jesus.
Now if one will read in context, one might get the true meaning of the whole, yet never in their own flesh, for all Scripture is Spiritually discerned, So I am posting just the message in context and one see what exactly happened in Acts 7
[h=3]Acts 7:51-60[/h]The Message (MSG)
[SUP]
51-53 [/SUP]“And you continue, so bullheaded! Calluses on your hearts, flaps on your ears! Deliberately ignoring the Holy Spirit, you’re just like your ancestors. Was there ever a prophet who didn’t get the same treatment? Your ancestors killed anyone who dared talk about the coming of the Just One. And you’ve kept up the family tradition—traitors and murderers, all of you. You had God’s Law handed to you by angels—gift-wrapped!—and you squandered it!”
[SUP]
54-56 [/SUP]At that point they went wild, a rioting mob of catcalls and whistles and invective. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, hardly noticed—he only had eyes for God, whom he saw in all his glory with Jesus standing at his side. He said, “Oh! I see heaven wide open and the Son of Man standing at God’s side!”
[SUP]
57-58 [/SUP]Yelling and hissing, the mob drowned him out. Now in full stampede, they dragged him out of town and pelted him with rocks. The ringleaders took off their coats and asked a young man named Saul to watch them.
[SUP]
59-60 [/SUP]As the rocks rained down, Stephen prayed, “Master Jesus, take my life.” Then he knelt down, praying loud enough for everyone to hear, “Master, don’t blame them for this sin”—his last words. Then he died.
So by the context the meaning comes out to those that God will reveal the truth to. Now if one just holds onto the KJV as the only way to Heaven, the only way one will know truth is not true, for God is not physical, not flesh as Jesus was and once known in the flesh now today no more, and Any book is a Book, to put the Bible above God is having other God's before God
who is a Spirit and can today only be worshipped in Spirit and truth. No other way
The Message when I go for just john 4:23-24 is brings up 21-24 to keep it in context
[h=3]John 4:23-24[/h]The Message (MSG)
[SUP]
21-23 [/SUP]“Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither here at this mountain nor there in Jerusalem. You worship guessing in the dark; we Jews worship in the clear light of day. God’s way of salvation is made available through the Jews. But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter.
[SUP]
23-24 [/SUP]“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly
themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
Do we understand the meaning here?
[h=3]John 4:23-24[/h]New Life Version (NLV)
[SUP]
23 [/SUP]The time is coming, yes, it is here now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father wants that kind of worshipers.
[SUP]
24 [/SUP]God is Spirit. Those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
[SUP]
23 [/SUP]But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
[SUP]
24 [/SUP]
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
[h=3]John 4:23-24[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)
[SUP]
23 [/SUP]But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
[SUP]
24 [/SUP]
God
is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
[h=3]John 4:23-24[/h]King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]
23 [/SUP]But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
[SUP]
24 [/SUP]God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Same message different wording, do you really think God can be tricked and that man can rewrite with wrong intent, publish the word as the inerrant truth and man actually deceive God? No way, nor you with the KJV only doctrine.
God is God and God will and has accomplished what God has set out to accomplished, God already accomplished salvation for us all those of us that believe and are going to be if not already set free, God is not mocked. God is not a liar, man is and man by his own selfish ways does continue to get in the way of God, and is trying to make a mockery of God, I personally am just glad that God did gives us free choice and God will not interfere in that and cries out to us all to trust God, and all one is left with after the cross is either to believe God or not. God never once in any scripture say KJV is my final version to you all. No where is that written and man has taken this up and is deceiving many in the process over this
Pleas go on reading your KJV, and see truth I hope and pray, not to take anyone as a captive to see things your way and your groups way only. God called all of us to freedom and the purpose of this freedom is not for one to continue in Sin, Rather to be freed from sin in the Spirit of God
I got saved from the Living Bible Paraphrased. It was not that version that I got saved by, it was God himself
All in love to you, and God just love you and all the world, God is just waiting for ones free choice to choose awaredly 100% aware of their choice and then I am sure the end will follow.
Unpack your bags, the guilt trip is over, rest in God as God has rested since the foundation of the world
