QUOTE=disciplemike;2807042]Have you ever considered that when Paul wrote this letter to Timothy, the New Testament was not even written yet?
Certainly both Paul and Timothy were believers in Messiah.
The question I am asking, what "word of truth" was Timothy to study?[/QUOTE]
Hi Mike I
I respectfully disagree brother. Although the not all of the new testament was complete ,some was in place and being called scripture at the time of Paul's writing to Timothy.
It is generally accepted that Paul's letter you mentioned was during his time in Rome . Placing it from 64 to 65 AD . We have a quote from II Peter 2:15

II Peter 2:15 “And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.”

Here we have Paul's writings all ready being called scripture. We also have this quote here in the New testament . I Timothy 517-18

I Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of a double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,” and, "The laborer deserves his wages.”
You will note Paul's quote is from Deuteronomy 25:4 but the second half " The laborer deserves his wages.” That's nowhere in the OT ,but it is being called scripture. It is found in Luke 10:7
Luke 10:7 “And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.”
So it's safe to understand that when Paul directs Timothy to study the scriptures he is not saying just the OT brother

HS, good morning. I want you to understand one thing. God has one people. God's instructions are for God's people. There are no covenants or inheritance for gentiles. You have to be adopted, or grafted into the commonwealth of Israel.
mike's post # 424 from the 4th commandment thread

however what the scripture actually says is different --

The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying,
"Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork,
and Israel my inheritance."

(Isaiah 19:25)

Romans 9:6-8, "However, it is not as though YHWH's plan had failed. For it is not everyone who is a descendant of Israyl who belongs to Israyl. Nor, just because they are his descendants, are they all Abraham's children; but: In Isaac will your seed be called. That is, it is not those who are the children of the flesh who are YHWH's children; but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's seed."

Abraham was not a Jew.

Boy Mike. If you can't answer that question straight up and directly. Doesn't that give you pause? Like," what the hell am I doing if I can't answer that question?"

Even on a human level. If you have a car that the brakes go out every once and while and your life was in question every time you used it. You would fix it or get a new one right?

post 428, same thread

do we read the Bible Mike?

yes we do and we study it also

you are not a Jew and observing Jewish holy days and celebrations...given to Israel...will not make you Jewish
I know that post was not directed at me, and surely I dont agree with Mike on everything, only read a few of his posts, but many here are denying or not understanding Scriptual truth, and those wo are really in Messiah need to know...

There is no Jew (really should be Hebrew) and Gentile in Messiah, all in Messiah are Spiritual Israylites/Israylites, Body of Messiah, Notzaraim, children of Yah, etc...

Psalm 105:6-9, "O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Yaaqob, His chosen ones! He is YHWH our Father! His judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, the Law He commanded for a thousand generations; Which He made; ratified, established, with Abraham, and vowed by His oath to Isaac. He confirmed it; let it stand, to Yaaqob for a Law, and to Israyl for an everlasting covenant."

Galations 3:28,29, "Is there not the Yahdai as well as the Greek; Gentile? Is there not the slave as well as the freeman? Is there not the male and the female? For all of you must be in unity in Yahshua Messiah. And if you are in Messiah, then you are a seed of Abraham, heirs according to the promise."

Psalam 89:26-37, "He will call out to Me; You are my Father, O YHWH! You are the Rock of my salvation! And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast with Him. And I will establish his Seed forever, and his throne will be as the days of heaven. Should his children forsake My Law, and refuse to walk in My judgments; Should they profane My statutes, and fail to keep My commandments; Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with lashes from the whip. Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly withdraw from him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. My covenant I will not break, nor will I change what has gone out of My lips. Once for all, I have vowed by My holiness--I cannot lie, and I say to David: His Seed will endure forever, and his throne will endure before Me like the sun. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky."
I know I said earlier I have not read your posts...but I've brushed up on them since then

are you taught by internet apologetics as well?
What? I posted Scripture. What are you talking about...

Yeah never said he was...

He was Hebrew from the land of Ur...

Nice way to ignore what is written tho...

So are we seeking truth or seeking to discredit by distracting from posted Scripture?

Throwing things now? What "challenge" ... Youknow, I care not what argument you have going with others, it is none of my concern, I simply posted Scripture, as I said accept it or don't Yah gave a free will.

you make your point in such a concise way, there is no need for further discussion

and of course, you must know who is and is not actually saved or you would not write that way

just more puffed up and vain teachings

throwing the shoe was a joke...mid-eastern culture...since you and mike cannot get off the topic of that region of the world...albeit you both are standing on a peak beyond the atmosphere and oxygen has apparently become thin

since I have started joking, it appears to me I need a rest from this endless silliness, so I shall take leave for now

and you are not Hezikiah nor Jewish nor, it seems, actually a Christian in the sense most of us here are

The Scriptures were explaining theat Israyl is not physical Israyl, but rather the followers of Messiah/the true seed, this does not exclude Hebrews and Jews, but also does not make it exclusive to them. Those Scripture clearly stated principles about being heirs to the promise, aka grafted in, etc... again i dont know what you have going on with others on this site and including me in it imo unfair.

again, I posted Sccripture, and I stand by what it says, there is no intent of being rude on my end. IDK why you would call principles explained in Scripture vain teachings.

and of course, you must know who is and is not actually saved or you would not write that way
So you just implied im not savedand or judgemental because I wrote something, you accuse me of what you just did... WOW
