years ago I commited a crime and I am deeply sorry for it everyday would god still forgive me even if I dont turn myself in? I honestly dont think I can bring myself to turn in. note i committed this crime 7 or 8 years ago

God has forgiven you, but you need to forgive yourself, that was the old you, and this is the new you.. the one who repented over what he has done in the past...Its not a matter of paying the price for whatever you did, its about being righteous in God, and what he says about you now that you are a new creation in Christ. You have to move on, forgive yourself and let it die in the past, that used to be you, but it isn't anymore... If God wanted you to go to jail, trust me, you would
have been sent there by now. Before i came to Christ i used to do a lot of "stuff" too, so you are not the only one who did crimes.. I actually have an interesting testimony that happened a long time ago when i was about 15 and how God kept me from being sent to jail. Its somewhat a long story but ill share it with you if your interested sometime, just private message me or something... but yea, Just live for God from now on, you are not the mistakes you made in the past.

Like I said I don't think I can willfully turn myself in. My question is will god forgive me even if I don't go to jail. If it comes to that I will go to jail but I can't be the driving hand that causes it.
Hi Monnkai,

Most statutes of limitations are way less than 7 years except maybe murder. And each state is different as well.

So given that you didn't murder someone (I'm assuming) the statutes of limitations for your crime is probably already past and you wouldn't be imprisoned.

There's a difference between crime and sin- even though they can be one in the same. With God, all He judges is sin. You are confusing the two. You are thinking you have to be punished for crime on the earth in order to not be punished for the sin of it in heaven? No, whether we receive consequences on the earth or not, they will be irrelevant to the judgement in heaven.

And that judgement will be simple- if you died while in Christ you go to heaven, if not you don't. Moses killed an Egyptian, did he go back in order to turn himself in? No. Did he go to paradise? Yes- he was even seen with Jesus and Elijah on the mountain of transfiguration. If you are in Christ, and repented of it, and do it no longer, you can rest in knowing it is washed away.

But be careful, a lot of people deceive themselves that they are in Christ when they are not. A prodigal son is not currently in Christ, one who uses Christ as a license to sin is not in Christ, one who leaves the church is not in Christ, etc.

It will depend on what the crime was, and whether or not you already made restitution. If it was a heinous crime but you have repented and made restitution, then God will accept that completely. So study the man called Zacchaeus in the Gospels and see if that example applies to you. You do not need to disclose any details on a public forum, and in fact it could be harmful in some cases.

As to submitting to authorities, that is a matter of attitude. Are you a lawless person right now or are you an upstanding law-abiding citizen?
I am a law abiding citizen Now and bellieve me i repented. Im thinking of goinng into somme kinnd of ministry Im going to a new church this sunday and im going to ask them if they have. any. programms

GOD KNOWS how long it has been.
GOD ALWAYS forgives the truly repentant sinner.
It is BETTER to face the consequences HERE, than to face them at your judgment.
Repentance is a MUST.

Just some things to think about....have a good day

Submit to Authorities?
For me there is only one Authority and One Power and it has nothing to do with man.
Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
But I will say that prison is a great place to pray, meditate, and study the teachings of Jesus, but only if you're able to stay away from the foolishness; you will need no more than 7 years.

I don't think we are required to "turn" ourselves in for every "crime" we've committed, otherwise I'd be having to go back to when I stole a few pencils from school.

Unless you feel really strongly that you should its better to leave it as an X-file - just keep an eye out for that Fox Mulder.
They had pencils back then? I thought it was all done on writing slates .
Blessings
