To go to the original of "whoever shall call upon the name of Christ shall be saved", we need to know what God meant about calling on the name. In the English language with western thought that is the same as calling on our spouse to do something. In the bible it was much, much more. Think of when Jacob was renamed Israel. It was nothing like if we decided to call one of our children by a nickname instead of what we had been calling her. It gave Jacob a new being and a new destiny.

So when we are calling on the name of Christ, we are doing something very profound and involved, as many of the posts are bringing out.
