The church/bride of Jesus Christ is Saint Mary.
Saint Mary plays a much more important role in the iconomy of salvation of the world than does that samaritan woman.

She really plays no part in our salvation.

There is no direct reference in the scripture that Jesus will marry Mary, neither the Samaritan women nor all His brethren.

She is not a co-redemptor of the world, but she is of great importance in the divine`s plan of saving the world.

Saint Mary is mysteriously both mother and bride of Jesus Christ.

To you she is as well as many Catholics as you've all been taught from childhood for hundreds of years. But this is not something that you learned from scripture because it's not there.

A study of bride as scripture uses that word to explain God to us is a very fundamental, and complicated word. We must not limit our understanding so completely we say it is "Mary".

Jesus loves the Church as a man anticipating marriage to the woman of his dreams. He was willing to give His life to save hers.

Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her"

Spiritual understanding of this word takes in the entire book of Song of Solomon, understanding what God meant by the word "harlot" and the spiritual meaning of sex. It gets into the very fundamentals of understanding the spiritual world we live in.

I agree that we shoudn`t limitate ourselves to say that Mary is the bride of Jesus Christ; but since the opener searched for a woman as a bride of Jesus Christ, I said that it is Saint Mary and not the samaritan woman. But, you are absolutely right that beyond these appelatifs (bride, groom, marriage) lies a great mystery that reflects the marriage as relation between Jesus Christ and His church.

The NT is full of terms and syntagms that send to marriage:
Mt 9,15: Can the children of the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them?
Mt 25: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

He have also the parable that compares the kingdom of heaven with a wedding, so, yes, we shouldn`t limit ourselves to give simplistic answers. Thanks.

I felt into the trap of your question :p.

i`m not sure about that.

Jesus sitting in the well.. He was the well... Etc
Agree.

Like RedTent pointed out, we shoudn`t search for a specific limited meaning.
But we can give examples of what it may signify. The bride is the Church (the community, us) that Jesus Christ has founded.

Simona25 and I are not Catholics. I am Coptic Orthodox.

Luke 1: 30 says Then the angel said to her, do not be afraid Mary for you have found FAVOR with God.
Luke 1: 28 says And having come in, the angel said to her "Rejoice HIGHLY FAVORED ONE the Lord is with you BLESSED are you among women
In the wedding of Cana of Galilee, Jesus Christ changed His mind for her sake!!

So the "Scriptures" showed that God gave her favor among humanity and blessed her among women. Imagine someone is "Favored" by God!!! Someone is blessed by God a lot more than all other women!!! Someone Jesus Himself reconsidered His decision for her sake!!!! Then don't you think if someone getting this special treatment from GOD!!!! How much should we human beings respect and honor that person?!!

To you she is as well as many Catholics as you've all been taught from childhood for hundreds of years. But this is not something that you learned from scripture because it's not there.

We are the bride.

I believe it was common in their culture for women to draw water from wells, so I don't think it has importance, besides the teaching and words of Jesus that occurred there and such.

Every female in the bible represents the bride of Christ, in various life conditions and stages of spiritual growth.

What I see in the samaritan woman is the humility of Jesus, who spoke to a samaritan adultress and assured her that he could save her if she wanted to be saved. If she repented and followed Jesus then she would be a member of his body (the Church).
She is evidence that God's intention is to save the entire world not just the children of Israel.

Very true! Jesus Christ came to save everybody, not just a few -'elected'- ones.

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:31-32 ESV

I totally agree . I think there is a resemblance to the church and the woman at the well. All of God words have and are full of knowledge and meaning .I think people are afraid to open their minds and hearts to new things because they are afraid. Afraid of being deceived or something. My god has always kept me in the truth, even if I get off a little he brings me back in line. We can trust God to keep in the truth if we are in love with him. God bless

Well, she does represent some of the church. 1. She had many husbands (many religions she basically dabbled) 2. She lived with the last man not even committing herself to marriage (not becoming a member of the organization). She was basically sick of men (religion) by the way she talked. But, once she got some spiritual understanding of who she was with she was his.
