it is amazing how many people have no clue that
the word eternal means exactly that...everlasting...
it is amazing how many people have no clue that ...
God initially catches da little fishes with verses like John 3:16.

Den later dey find out what's happenin' ...
via the indwelling Holy Spirit who teaches dem ...
what the word (Scripture) means and what the Word (Jesus) means!

Note Jesus' parable of the net ... where at the end of the age,
some who were caught in the net are thrown into the fire!

If this is true, then John 3: 16 is meaningless. And no one can have no hope because anyone can be saved, be given eternal life, and be condemned to hell.

If one can not have any hope. they can have no faith.

If one can have no faith, they can not be born again or justified, Because we are justified by faith.

But hey, If you want to carry on with your hopeless, faithless gospel Feel free

10,000 years from now ... you still will NOT get it ...

I want to keep trusting ALL of the verses in the NT.

Thou just simply do not ... and not even close to boot.
I do trust the verses of the NT, I do not trust YOUR INTERPRETATION OF THEM however.

Because if I did, My savation would be based on ME, and HOW WELL I DID. and on MY WORKS, and not on the word of God and death of Christ.

You can not claim you trust Gods word. when you preach works, Because when you teach works, You trust yourself. Because it is ALL YOU HAVE..

ie, you better make the standard.

ps.. what is the standard? How good is good enough according to the NT?

Tink I'll start a thread tomorrow on a dozen conditional "IF" statements in the NT.

And we'll be thrilled to read your interpretation of them!

However, you will NOT deal with them ...
because you only deal in emotions (such as fear of the Truth).

Prepare to read such as... IF you don't overcome sin, you won't receive eternal life.

Overcoming sin is possible indeed for those who have truly been born again (from above),
now are new creations, and have received the Holy Spirit to dwell inside.

These enlightened people are NOT living a lifestyle of habitual (unrepentant) sinning!

They are living a lifestyle of habitual repentance of their occasional sins!

They are living a lifestyle of having their occasional sins cleansed by Jesus' precious blood.

Paul goes into great depth (in several places) saying ...
the truly converted are NO LONGER slaves of sin.

And this is what Jesus was talking about when He said ...
through Him one is FREE INDEED ... free from being in bondage to Satan and sin!

Just explain why I can be told I will never hunger never thirst, Live forever, never die, HAVE in my possession eternal life, and given CHrist assurance I WILL be risen on the last day. (see John 6)

If you can tell us why Jesus lied.. Maybe just maybe you wil have some say.

Of course, You already claimed to be sinless, When even paul said he continued to run the race at the end of his life, because he did not make it (meaning your placing yourself ABOVE paul) and John said you are decieved.. So I will listen to John.. ok?

Overcoming sin is not sinless perfection. It is having power to overcome sins we struggle with. and not having to be enslaved by them anymore.

However, NO ONE loves God and neighbor perfectly, So NO ONE is sinless. Because everytime our love of others falls short. We are in sin.

Amen, I HAVE BEEN SAVED by God mercy not my own works of righteousness. Not "I am being saved" or "I might be saved"

My salvation is a completed fact.

and it is based on this fact that I can pick up my cross daily and walk with no fear. but do it while resting in christ.
Amen, I agree with what you say (and I don't believe in OSAS!) :)

Amen! Amen! As I continue to believe and live in my Lord Christ Jesus, this is the ongoing reality that I hang onto!

This bloviating has nothing to do with the definition of eternal....nice twist though of a parable....it has nothing to do with the saved losing their salvation and being cast away........kind of like the wheat and the tares.........the tares were never saved to begin with!

And leave off the obedience and enduring belief? (see posts 8 and 9)
You confuse the results of salvation for the cause of salvation......

The original statement was "if I can lose eternal life, it is not eternal". This statement is man's thinking and not Biblical - (my view - you can disagree! - and I won't be offended or call you names! )

God is the initiator and creator of eternal life and of course eternal life is always eternal life. If I lose the gift of eternal life because I cease believing in Jesus, that does not diminish or change the gift God gives to those who believe in Him. This is perhaps what you are trying to say Eccl. 3:14 says.

If someone gives me a gift of a watch that will always run forever - then I lose the watch - that watch will still keep on running forever but I do not have it!

I have no fear of losing my watch.

The scripture says it is sealed to me until the day of redemption.

That's interesting - never heard of that verse before - I would like to have a watch like that!

I have always feared of losing my watch - but have never feared of losing my salvation (even though salvation can be lost).

If salvation can be lost... maybe you SHOULD be afraid.

What if you do something wrong?

What if you make some mistake?

What if you misunderstand some scripture, and get something wrong.

What if Satan deceives you?

What if your heart fails, or your courage fails, or your obedience fails?

I dunno... maybe you should be afraid.

Ha! You can't make me afraid no matter how hard you try! I believe in Jesus Christ and have absolutely no intention of giving up my faith in Christ under any circumstances!

The only thing that would make me afraid is believing in "eternal security - that is OSAS" - because then if my works did not match up to what people thought they should be, then they would tell me I was never saved in the first place! I am not putting my faith in OSAS under any circumstances - I am keeping my faith in Jesus Christ alone!
