I look forward to the creation of the man-made third temple so that I, like Paul has done, may go there at least once and present offerings to God before its future corruption and desolation. It's one of my life goals. :D
Book of Hebrews is still alive and kicking! Wow...

Ya, but I thought Aristocat wasn't one of them. He's a Christian, right? I mean, his parents were Baptists... :| Surely he's not one of them?
I'm a Messianic Jew. So I believe in the literal Gospel account. In simple terms the Torah does not save us; it instructs us. I believe it beneficial to follow.

I'm discerning something else besides Christianity.

And even if Christ somehow abolished the laws, what does that mean for the Noachide laws (some of which are found in the Torah) which are supposedly outside the jurisdiction of the Torahaccording to these abolitionists?

Praus, what is your definition of the Gospel? I can tell you mine if you want to hear it, but I'd like to hear from you.

P.S. When I say "your definition" I mean your perception of what the Gospel is according to Scripture.

What are you sorry about? That I believe in the Gospel or that I try to obey God?
I'm sorry, because I thought you were a Christian.

You seemed fairly level headed, with just a hint or two of Jewish type leanings. That's why I was surprised and saddened to learn that you think trying to follow the Torah has religious benefit.

Is it just me or has the room here grown a little colder? Praus, I don't believe in Gnosticism, which is more than I can say for the majority of Protestant Christians these days. They claim that they can be led - apart from the Bible - by some indistinct heart murmurings of the Holy Spirit that all true believers get. Gnosis: intuitive knowledge of spiritual truths.

I don't believe in heart murmurings, a spirit whispering in my ear or God speaking to me through my feelings. I believe that we're led by the Scriptures. And it takes prayer, knowledge and human reason - that God has granted us - to understand them. Your understanding of them differs from that of mine, I get that. But our understanding of the Gospel seems to be the same.

THE GOSPEL

  • John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

So unfortunately I don't have any messages from spirits for you.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to make the room any colder. But I think the issue is quite serious.

Wasn't one of Paul's letters to those foolish Galatians, who thought trying to follow the Torah was beneficial?

You're just now noticing that?

That's them. If they're being led away from the teachings of the Apostle Paul then that's a problem indeed.

I debate with these KJV-only people all the time and they say "Holy Spirit" just like you do.

The Holy Spirit led me? ;)

Christians will have a hard time believing that Holy Spirit is leading you to disregard the teaching of the Apostle Paul...

Gal 3:1-4 You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?

...to the point of desiring to watch an animal die,for reasons that you won't state.

I look forward to the creation of the man-made third temple so that I, like Paul has done, may go there at least once and present offerings to God before its future corruption and desolation. It's one of my life goals. :D
That's what I mean by "for all to see".

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Is it not also 'cultish' behavior to have an insatiable appetite to expose cults or false religions that are deemed so by some authority? Is there a 'quid pro quo' for this type of behavior? Perhaps we should label those with this insatiable appetite as 'anti-occult zombies' because of the sound their deadbeat drum that is always sounding off in the jungles of false religions. Don't make the mistake of categorizing me in favor of false religions, but to make it your vocation to expose them as 'Walter Martian' has done with many others through 'The Kingdom of Cults' does nothing to promote the kingdom of God or Jesus Christ and him crucified and the light that comes from the the glorious gospel.

Nope. Why would you think that, unless you have a fear of being exposed as a cultist?

Is there a 'quid pro quo' for this type of behavior?
Not that I'm aware of, no.

Actually, it helps people not to get suckered into these cults. Although the fact you would say such a thing does not surprise me, as you were opposed to the exposing of John Hagee as a heretic.

A gentile was never expected to hold to the law tradition, gentiles were adopted into the new covenant to begin with.I can't understand why they would want to observe something they were never expected to.

I know messianic Jews that have accepted Christ hold to tradition but , IDK why a gentile would when they were not even raised Jewish.I am more skeptical of gentiles who adopt the old tradition they never were a part of to begin with.Jewish people are brought up with it so it is a lot more easier to understand, but a non Jew,whats wrong with being a gentile it isn't sufficient or what?

This speaks volumes about your reverence for Jesus' words.

Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman, that an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is out of the Judeans. But an hour is coming—and now is here—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for indeed the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers. John 4:21-23

No, it's anti-cult ministry not hunting and gathering.

Yes, it looks like this:
I don't think it's biblical to bless those who don't honor the sabbath.
Perhaps we should label those with this insatiable appetite as 'anti-occult zombies' because of the sound their deadbeat drum that is always sounding off in the jungles of false religions.
Wiktionary is a dictionary that you can edit, so you can add "anti-occult zombie" if you like.

Don't make the mistake of categorizing me in favor of false religions,
How would you like to be categorized?

I think it's the amusing hats Jews get to wear. You'd be surprised how many people like to wear funny hats. :D
