Jason. Mennonites are a whole cultural phenomenon. The take a certain view on the nature of man, how communities work, what almost every aspect of life is all about. And however you look at their community it works.

Now it creates a mindset, a way of dealing with the world, that becomes part of who you are. It is like a culture, an emotional language, a way of expressing yourself. I have met some people from a similar background, bretheren, and I went for a number of years to an open bretheren church. These guys only socialise, holiday etc with their own. It is like a closed family.

So what you trigger in him works at many levels. I sincerely do not believe he hates, but you somehow wind each other up terribly. But why does it bother you so much? Do you want something he is not giving you?

You say he has insulted you. How?

I was accused of insulting people because I said I felt the little god theology was heresy. Can christians believe heresy? Yes. Just take the evolution creation debate. One side is definately right, but which one?
So I might regard something as wrong, but I am open to change my mind. Is that insulting someone? For me it is being honest, which Jesus calls me to be. But for some being a christian is just agreeing their view of faith is that same as theirs or one of us is from God and the other not. I tend to think God is very very gracious, and if we saw the truth, we would all fall apart, because no one would stand.

So grace covers a lot of things, and we are commanded to love as Jesus loved. Hey shoot me down, I am just following Jesus......
I was raised in the mennonite church. There were good people there...and there were wolves. Just like anywhere else.

yeah...well....I don't want to tippy toe around either afraid to offend those who take delight in offending

I think I may have been too quick to take a slap on the writst for my 'name calling'...way back...but I do support trying to
tone things down

There is absolutely no use whatsoever in embracing those who deviate from the only plan God has regarding salvation...they make the plan of salvation more like slaveation

I may just reroute how I express myself some...I used the expression 'bait biters' so as to avoid using a name but either way I guess

The point being that, while I did not actually see this thread as 'bait', it was and prob still is, taken as such...an invitation to insult or tit for tat

I don't see it that way, but I think it could hardly be passed up by some as evidenced almost from the start

So, 'kittens' aside, it sure should never have been an excuse to lay one on sirk...and I saw that too...and that riled me up some...it's like that song...kick em when their up...kick em when their down

we can, in the end, only monitor our very own leetle selfies...but I think people reveal themself in how they respond and answer..including me
In a way what you say here is the way that i am wired. The status quo drives me nuts and I am by nature a person who likes to challenge the way that a person thinks and sees things....including myself. Being fearful of what you disagree with is a childish mindset and it is one that I set out to kill in myself.......... AND... the only way to get iron sharp is to make some sparks fly once in awhile....if you're picking up what I'm throwing down. If I make mistakes along the way then thanks be to Jesus for covering over my sin.

Your statement reminded me of meeting so many people for various traditions. It was not the traditions that made the difference, it was the love that Jesus planted in their hearts. I had some good contact with catholics, which doctrinally should not have worked but it did.

This is why I found it odd that i got attacked by charismatics, when talking about love. Does not add up. The Holy Spirit is to minister the very work of the cross to our hearts, yet here were people calling me spiritually ignorant, empty, without direction, and telling me like a child I needed something else. Ok, I listen but what was this great revelation. Zip.

The best they have is crashing to the floor and words filling their minds. Ok, sounds a lot like a supernatural encounter of the strange kind.

And Jason, you are all doomed.... What happened to simple faithful walking with Jesus? So I say, praise the Lord, because I know who I have believed and he is able to save me on the Last day, and today and tomorrow, and everyday.

I honestly agree. We should not have to post things like I just posted to you. None of us should have to grovel to others to prove our hearts. We should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Everybody is on pins and needles, and if we cough and fart from the stress of coughing, we may get banned!
You can get banned for...

Why am I not banned yet?

(Pins and needle smashing. lol)

lol. I don't remember that but I do remember the wagon he kept from the farm. Haha.
Well, around my hometown, you have to beware topping each hill because there might be an Amish horse-and-buggy lurking just out of sight. It can be nerve-racking.

Comparatively speaking, I'd prefer black bumpers.

True, but look where they are. I think they ought to put 'em on flexible poles mounted on the back, kinda like kids have on their bikes.

Bet they wouldn't like 'em, though. Not black.

we have Hutterites in Montana. Very similar to the Amish. They even have to look outside the colony for new breeding stock on occasion (so I hear) as the genetics get a little bottlenecked. Lol. Except Hutterites prefer fords and Chevys to get around in.

Why do you suppose we're on pins and needles?
Honestly Sirk, Because the freaks of religion have us convinced that we can't say a word that disagrees with them.
And it is a personal insult to disagree with them. And they have skin thickness of.......lets just go with no skin.

And we don't want to insult them, just get the truth to them and there has been a call to be impersonal on this forum. So people are trying to work it out. But it has been taken to the extreme of if you sneeze a lynch mob is ready for ya!
Makes sense....but that is what satan does. He creates shame and doubt and then says...."see.... you're a failure". Then the choice becomes ours on whether to believe him or send him packing in Jesus name.
Ahaha! So this is the discord Sirk was talking about?

Now I get it! In which case, how about we just smash the pins and needles, or maybe just use them to pop farts, or make sure we get rid of the pins and needles far, farrrrrrrrrrr away from the box of tissues in case we sneeze, use the rope from the lynch mob to pull Mama Duck, (who just passed by for our Tall Ships celebration, and don't you dare mess with the duck by using those pins and needles lol), and then blow a big raspberry at those who tried to get us out of accord, and, well, have some joy again?

I don't cotton to martyr complexes!

Let's all have a go at this song...
Rubber ducky, you're the one!
You make bath time a lot fun

When people offer to us their advice or opinions, I believe that it is best to bring the same before the Lord so that He can either confirm the same to us or show us that there is no merit to what was suggested or something in between the two extremes. That's all that I was suggesting. In other words, that the Lord would either show Sirk that there was some validity to what I suggested or that He would just show Sirk to dismiss it. I wasn't speaking of some sort of outward sign. Merely confirmation or rejection of what I'd suggested at some point in time in relation to Sirk's own personal communion or fellowship with the Lord. You know, in times of prayer and things like that. No fleeces required.
Ah bummer. I got no fleece in the house and kind of wonder if that one still works. Then again, the way my life goes, I'd put it out and a thunderstorm would hit during the night. lol
