Problem with tongue speaking is that it is over since the bible was completed in A. D. 95.
This is a common misconception which it taught in many denominations. And many accept it because they do not fully research it. This erroneous teaching uses 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 as its basis,8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.” The claim is that the Canon of Scripture, that is the Bible, is the “perfect” referred to in this passage.
“Perfect”, is the Greek word teleios (teleios – Stong’s# 5046), which,in this instance, according to Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, means “ the perfect state of all things, to be ushered in by the return of Christ from Heaven”. Has that happened and I missed it??
Also, I would also like to mention, if one believe tounges have ceased, they will also have to believe that knowledge and prophecy have also been done away with. However, these same people claim to have knowledge, but, how can they believe that?? Makes me wonder if they are truly studying, or just accepting what others are saying as truth.

It is not foolish or ignorant to be concerned about the issue of tongues in the church. .
I thought this thread was about tongues as a PRAYER language.

Ignorance is not bliss(Hosea 4:6)! A nation is a people, not a place!!! U must first compare the prophecies with history, before U can speculate about the future of a nation. 2 Peter 1:20 says that NO prophecy is of ANY "private" interpretation. That means ONLY God can reveal the picture I keep pointing at, & make U a witness as well. Daniel 7:17 says that a beast is a kingdom(nation)!!! The fourth beast of Daniel 7 is in the world today!!! Furthermore... If U were to place Jeremiah 6 beside Daniel 7 & Revelation 17, U will find that ALL NATIONS are seduced by the globalist zionist false jewish synagog of satan(freemasonry & illuminati) & are drunk with the blood of saints. Did U know that obama is a zionist??? I bet U didn't.

I thought this thread was about tongues as a PRAYER language.
Here is your initial post on this thread.

Re: The Necessity of Tongues For Prayer Language

1 Corinthians 14:38-40 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. [a]
39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

2 Timothy 2:23 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.

If disputes are foolish and ignorant, what does that say about a man who constantly stirs them up???

If you are referring in your post (above) concerning tongues as a prayer language, so have I. Praying in tongues is mentioned and referred to one third the way through (1Cor 14), that deals with the subject of tongues in (v/13-15). If your conclusion concerning the gift and subject of tongues, as a prayer language and otherwise, is (v/39 & 40) with no examination of the scriptures in this chapter, then you need to do that as a student of God's word and find out what Paul was teaching. It would be ignorant on my part or your part to dispute things we know nothing about or understand, and that would be foolish and gender strife. When we study this subject all the way through (which may take some time) we come to have conclusions and convictions that are balanced and edifying because they are sound and sure in the faith.

Don't con me! Tongues is finished and done with, God is not giving new messages to the church. He gave us the bible which is god's complete message to us. You fail to realize that tongue speaking is part of Satanic sings, wonders and miracles in the last days. You need to do some more research of the bible.

(2Thes 2:8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
(2Thes 2:9) [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
Please don not waste my time if you are still believing in Satan.

This is one of the saddest things I have ever read in these forums, it is the definition of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. I just pray you did this out of ignorance so that God may forgive you.

1st Timothy 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

I honestly do pray that God will grant you mercy.

Around and Around we go!
It seems like the same mountain for four months now!
It almost seem like the forty years in the wilderness, it was only suppose to take five days or so!

What kind of fruit is this?
Is it up lifting,
Is it life giving?
Is it patient or kind?
Does love demand it's own way?

Where is the fruit of love?

James 1:16-20 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning,
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth,
that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.
So then,
My beloved brethren,
Let every man be swift to hear,
slow to speak,
slow to wrath;
For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
For we all stumble in many things.
If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man,
able also to bridle the whole body.

James 4:1 Where do wars and fights come from among you?
Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
You lust and do not have.
You murder and covet and cannot obtain.
You fight and war.
Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive,
Because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Rev 22 says do not add or take away. Speaking in tongues thinking you are getting messages from God is adding.
The word of God, the entire bible is the comforter. Gibberish, even to yourself is of satan the liar.
(Lk 13:26) Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
(Lk 13:27) But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity.

So let's just erase the book of Acts... wait... doesn't the bible talk about how adding to or taking away from scripture being an.. dare I use the word?
1 cor. 14 would be where the prayers are in odd tongues. but every time in the book of acts context clearly says that it was real languages.

Good luck finding faults.
well I won't go into all the faults that i know seeing that I was raised baptist. however most baptist also believe that we can't just take the parts of the bible we won't to believe. so with that thought in mind, I will ask you what you do with:

1co 14:39Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
and the great commission in mark 16, where the baptiust and others teach us that this ii only applies to the apostlesMr 16:15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.Mr 16:16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be ****ed.Mr 16:17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;Mr 16:18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.Mr 16:19So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

But it is clear from these very scriptures that whosoever believe the preaching of the apostles, are the ones that receive / the signs will follow

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Now i don't know lf all baptist teaches that these gift died with the apostles, but all that I have heard teaches that they were only given to the apostles,

All speaking in languages was perfect for its day, and only corinth was the one getting messages from the holy ghost until the bible was completed. Holy Ghost is out comforter, and does not speak to bring any more messages. The babblings are all the same parrot talk! And as far as picking up serpents and drinking poison, I do not drink the poison of the speaking in tongues, and if i do it cannot hurt me, and If I pick up a serpent, a false preacher or prophet, it will not harm me either. In these last days, Satan is doing his best to impersonate Jesus, even bringing down fire from heaven which symboliclally is nothing more than falling over backward, another sign of the devil combined with the tongue speaking signs, wonders and miracles. (2Thes 2:9) [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

You fail to realize that tongue speaking is part of Satanic sings, wonders and miracles in the last days. You need to do some more research of the bible.
I find this amusing that the fellow who said someone needs to do more research in the bible, actually follows an erroneous teacher named Harold Camping.
I know who is doing satan's work here and it is NOT your friendly Christian neighbourhood tongue-speaker.

Well, MS we are all entitled to believe in our teachers, you believe in the pastor or teacher that you believe in, and so do many others, that is why there are many denominations that do not agree, right? I just thought as a watchman it is the duty to warn of danger when it is seen coming, do you agree. When it happens, remember me.
Oh, by the way, Dr James R. White had a debate with Camping last week, and if you are interested in hearing it, go to familyradio.com. and find the site that says what is new, click on that and it records the two day debate, see if you can glean anything from that. I have yet to listen to it, but it may be interesting since J. White is a brilliant theologian.
