I am talking about Spirits that are of God, and those that are not. The gift is to recognize the difference between evil and pure persuasions. A discerner of spirits.
Exactly how did you discern these spirits?

Its either you have lost your faith or you have not found it yet. But God gave you free will so you are free to choose. I pray that you wont regret your choice.
I don't think you understand. This is not a matter of choice. I cannot choose to believe the world is flat or that the sun orbits the earth. The evidence all shows that these beliefs are wrong. Do you think that you can simply choose to believe in an earth centric solar system and a flat earth? Can you simply choose to alter your perceptions and accept the reality of an archaic belief system, or would you need evidence?

I think that the fact that you are here is evidence enough. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Why are you here, ask yourself that question. It's for a reason and God is using you wheter you know it or not.

Hi Cycel - I have missed chatting with you.

I think in answer to your question though you would need faith.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

What I was saying is that even when atheists say there is 'nothing' after our bodies are 6ft under...that is their religion...their view of the 'after death' if you will.
You have very seriously watered down what it means to be religious. I guess for my brother-in-law motorcycles are his religion. Perhaps genealogy is my religion, eh? Really though, what you're saying is that absence of belief in what you believe should be construed as religion. That type of logic seems flawed.

Hi JL,

If you posses faith then you are already a believer and you are not asking the big question. This is why atheists are forever asking for evidence. As I tried to explain to Tinkerbell, I can't just choose to believe the earth is flat. I need confirmation. Without prior belief one needs evidence to make decisions about what to believe.

Cycel, my advice is to ride, walk, jump to the edge of the world and fall off if you want evidence of a flat earth! Of course flying is not an option, since humans cannot fly.

Just joking!

It is not evidence for anything, I'm afraid. If you want to understand why I am here you need only to ask. Guess work has led you down the wrong path.

It will not be called faith if you require evidence. Doubt will only lead you to trouble. And besides you don't have evidence also that God does not exist so why are you even on that side?

M. Luther should have had better reason, sense and understanding than to say things like that. :).

...atheists are forever asking for evidence...
Canada observes a Thanksgiving Day in October. The USA observes a Thanksgiving Day in November.

The many millions of people who have given thanks on those holidays for many years have seen evidence that there was someone to thank for life, breath, water, food and other blessings.

Please excuse me but I think that atheist errs by apparently counting nothing as a blessing bestowed and finding neither cause for which to give thanks nor a god to whom to give thanks.

Why not? He lets good people suffer and die. Eight children were killed in the 9/11 attacks, and I find it difficult to believe that the 3,000 or so who were killed deserved death. A Christian nurse with whom I had a discussion a few weeks ago pointed out that the cancer wards are full of children. No, good people do die, so why not allow a few to wander trapped between this existence and the next? Perhaps it's an alternative to Hell? Now, I don't believe that Hell exists, but I think you do. Or perhaps they are not trapped as the secularist ghost believers think. Perhaps they are on a mission from God. Unless you have all the answers then how can you be certain?
....Why are you so interested? Why do you care? If you don't, then why did you bother bringing it up?

That's right, and it gets us through a lot (faith)

That's why I am here, to expand your understanding. :)
...you're not doing us any favors. You just get a kick out of debating us.
Why do you care about 'expanding our understanding'?

You don't like atheists?

I very much hunger for the truth and I question everything to find it, always have. That is how I happened upon this path. I hold none of my beliefs sacred.

Do you believe you are right about everything then, that you have nothing to learn?
We've got nothing to learn from you, but I
bet that won't discourage you from "helping us" huh? Leave us alone.

It's not that we don't like atheists, it's that you're rubbing us the wrong way, in a way that is very apparent to you so bother asking how you're doing it. What makes screwing around with us or venting at us so enjoyable considering you don't even know us? Save any excuses about why you're not doing what I said.

Please speak for yourself.

Personally, I am very glad that Cycel has been here and continued to be here. Cycel, please be assured that this is true. Penknight, you are not the first to dispense rejection. I have been helped multiple times over multiple months. We can learn many things from other people that we would not easily learn in isolation and this has happened for me here.

Freedom is a wonderful thing. Rather than forbidding others, I think that we all benefit when often thoughtful and respectful individuals exercise bounded liberty and freedom of expression.

Do you consider Cycel a friend?

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
(KJV)
Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? (NLT)

I never said I disliked atheists. You are still God's children, and we are taught to love EVERYONE.
To some degree your mind must be open to learning more about God yes? Or you would not be on here??????

Yes or no?
Just on a side note:
Where did you get the idea that atheists or anyone else not following Jesus (having Him as their Lord and Savior) are "the children of God"? That is not biblical:

John 1:12-13
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Rom 9:8
That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.
